General Discussion / Re: Account creation fee is 190 BTS - Why?
« on: October 26, 2015, 01:44:15 pm »
I agree, these seems well high, given that the people signing up for accounts are not actually paying the price and Openleder-reg is footing the bill; also given there are not 'guest'/test access to the wallet i'm sure there are accounts that are being register without any intention of being used in the future.

you can send them to bitshareswallet.com it redirects to the account creation page at OpenLedger.

@Ronnie - are you looking at introducing a referral program? also will there be a better way to redirect traffic .. - i.e if someone use the url http://bitshareswallet.com and are redirected to the account creation page on OL ; make and account and on their next visit use the same link, they also end up at the account creation page although slightly different as their browser already has a wallet in its cache.
might be good if redirections could hit a page and check for active wallet; if wallet == true GOTO dashboard and strip referral code, if wallet == false GOTO account creation page and honor referral.

look forward to your response

Yes, there will be a referral system an I hope it is up and active incoming days.

Once referral system is up and running on openledger, I will start with the signup campaign, where eash participant will receive their individual signature with their personal referral code added as well as link to Openledger, and as part of this campaign you will be able to acheive additional rewards in the form of OBITS, a special token created as a unique asset of OpenLedger and on the base of various profit centres connected to Openledger, all of them in future adding value to the token, meaning each owner is actively participating in making it increase in value.
Thanks for the quick reply, It will be good to get the referral system online - Good new :) 1 question to make sure i understand will the referrer still take a portion of BTS trading fee/memberships in addition to OBITS or will a percentage of the refereed users fees/membership cost to be paid to the referrer in the form OBITS?
OBITS = a derivative of the profitability of Openledge

ABRA (https://www.goabra.com/)
I haven't used the services but looks nice enough, local Bitcoins with the support of a major player and a nice app to go with it.
They also lock in exchange rate when sending, so i guess that means Abra have to do the hedging and take the FX risk, if they we pushing Smartcoins around then nobody need to worry about volatility and can open up the ability to quickly interchange to other assets and customers can hold their value in whatever is most attractive to them... would also be another on/off ramp for Bitshares.

I guess we would need more liquidity on our exchange, but what comes first egg or chicken - don't ask me i have no more knowledge than any other egg or chicken guesser.

reminds me of *cough* BitCash *cough*

any thoughts or updates anyone?;  BM?

General Discussion / Re: Fee Adjustments
« on: October 20, 2015, 11:59:55 pm »
Looks like the price of the LTM is based on the fees payable, I was just lucky i suppose ;oblivious to this post i just purchased a LTM last night at the discounted rate (hour or two before this post), doesn't happen often but i'm glad to be at the right place and the right time for once :)

LTM price at the moment is 20,000BTS, BM also alluded to this fact in the OP

@Bytemaster - i would like to use my LTM to refer new user to Bitshares 2.0 any word on the referral system? is it planned that the following link would work to add my LTM account to  the 'Lifetime Referrer' field for new user accounts i refer?

Technical Support / Re: No Affiliate System at launch
« on: October 20, 2015, 03:15:18 am »
Couple of questions i hope someone could clear up for me please..

https://bitshares.org/wallet/?r=yourname#/create-account
Would a link such as the one above make the [username] the 'Affiliate Referrer' or the 'Lifetime Referrer' ? or both? (if lifetime member)

if the above link is for the 'Affiliate Referrer' how would one go about referring a user and being their  'Lifetime Referrer' ?

can the 'Affiliate Referrer' be a non-member account?

    • Can i import keys into the light wallet - only options i get are Restore Backup and New Wallet.

    Yes

    • if restoring balance to openledger web wallet, do i initially create a separate account(different to any of my 1.0 account names) or use the "existing account" then enter a password for my new wallet; then proceed with importing the keys?

You can do either. You can create a new account and import balances from old accounts to the new one or just import all old accounts to any account you own or to the current accounts. You can actually select which accounts you want to (or dont want to) merge (or not).

    • if i import my keys and do not claim all my balances will they be available next time i load the wallet from cache or from backup

Yes. I left balances unclaimed after closing wallet and you can go back and claim at any time. You claim your vested balance (daily if you like) in the same way.

    • is the Backup Wallet feature sufficient to protect my wallet from that point on or should i backup the brain key as well?

    I did both.

    [/list]

    Thanks Tuck your the Theman!,

I updated my light wallet to the latest version and am using that. my issue was then using 'existing account' i would enter the password and the title would change from 'enter password' or something similar to set-up account and i would be stuck there, with the updated version this issue seems to have gone away.

just in case anyone else has an issue with the wallet not loading when you start the light client and presenting a 'Application initialization issues' page; i thought i would post my work around.
when i start the light wallet it goes to a 'Application initialization issues' page suggesting the Websocket is not connected 1-2 second later the status updates to connected but my wallet does not load. I then proceed to the settings page, click wallet, click restore backup, choose my wallet backup file and supply my password, click verify then click restore, then click done, my wallet still does not load until i click View(dropdown menu) then reload.
after the page reset i have access to my wallet and unclaimed funds.
not sure if this is something wrong with my setup as i havent had a chance to test it out on any other machines.

the new interface is very slick and i can't wait to test out delegated permissions when i have another pc to play with

    I am also nervous,

I have my keys exported correctly from .0.9.3c and even got to the stage of importing the keys and seeing balances attached although cancelled the process. my concerns are:
    • Can i import keys into the light wallet - only options i get are Restore Backup and New Wallet.
    • if restoring balance to openledger web wallet, do i initially create a separate account(different to any of my 1.0 account names) or use the "existing account" then enter a password for my new wallet; then proceed with importing the keys?
    • if i import my keys and do not claim all my balances will they be available next time i load the wallet from cache or from backup
    • is the Backup Wallet feature sufficient to protect my wallet from that point on or should i backup the brain key as well?

my main concerns comes from the comment I read that claiming balance will create a transaction which will send the selected fund from the private keys holding them to the key of the destination account selected, which make me feel this is a one time only deal, better to be cautious and do it right than wing it and be sorry.

I'm sure it would be fine but i am to much of a chicken and would prefer to hold off and see how others a proceeding; but i want to get in there an play around. i have also gone through the migration steps many times today although my main problem comes from what i would believe step #1 should be  (creating/restoring existing account) (guide seems to start from a logged in account at the wallet screen) - i think i should be using existing account but again i want to be sure.

I think a you tube video from a senior member would help convey the process well and ease concerns

    appreciate any insight
    Cheers

Why wasn't the countdown set for the actual launch of the 2.0 chain instead of the demise of the 1.0 chain?

was the countdown set for the time of the snapshot...?
when i check the EST time at the moment it is 10AM, BM suggested in a blog post that 'The actual snapshot time will be the last block prior to 9:00:00AM EST.'

countdown finished 2 hours ago...  i think he must have meant EDT which is the timezone observed in Blacksburg at the moment (currently 11:18am) which coincides with the time

soon what the time was linked to will be irrelevant and we all sing hallelujah and live happily ever after

I'm sure this has been answered before... but what about all the non upgraded delegates that are still producing bts 0.9.x blocks?  Are there 2 chains running?
Second chain is not up at the moment although if the snapshot has been taken which i believe i has (but not sure) all BTS transfer on the old BTS 1.0 chain is considered worthless / less valuable as any new owner of BTS after the snapshot occurred will not have a 1:1 peg with BTS 2.0 and therefore will only own the BTS from v1...

that's how i understand it anyway, can someone comment or correct me if i am wrong..

    Thank You
