General Discussion / Re: bitShares Charts (technical analysis)
« on: December 28, 2016, 04:38:54 am »
Hi Townsend,

Love your charts :) - and your right, BTS is trending higher is USD terms.

In Trading view you can multiple(or divide or what ever you want to do) x price by y price, so to see BTS in USD (even though it on trades against BTC).
PAIR     :     What to type into Trading View
BTSUSD   :     BTSBTC*BTCUSD
BTSCNY   :     BTSBTC*BTCCNY

Here is a prettier picture, with the green box showing the time frame you mentioned above (on daily candles) :

@desi - Also isn't BTCPLUS meant to be redeemable for BTC?? - maybe i am completely wrong here as i thought it was compuceeds that was valued at 1 EUR.

General Discussion / Re: btc38 hacked and 10M BTS stolen
« on: December 27, 2016, 04:16:50 pm »
Does this account belong to the hacker or to BTC38? has anyone confirmed this? i thought it was BTC38; but the order on the DEX for 10 Open.BTC makes me think otherwise.

if it is the hacker; who are we to say he can't have his money. maybe it was his money in the first place and BTC38 stole it from him/her.... not likely but we don't know and we should not care either. on the edges this maybe different (Blocktrades, Open Ledger, PoloniEX) but the core Bitshares network should not judge.

Just broadly so far I've:

- Merged some fixes from upstream Graphene repo that have been sitting there for a while
- Workaround for log files filling up disk space during sync
- Removed some offline seed nodes
- Deleted some abandoned branches from GitHub repo
- Updated docs submodule (repo wiki) with upstream Graphene updates
- Merged a couple minor pull requests
- Removed some no longer active members from GitHub org
- Added @svk as admin to GitHub org

Next I want to begin merging updates/fixes (of which there are many) from upstream steemit/fc. This requires a lot of care because some of them are incompatible with BitShares.

Thanks for the update Vikram, great to see work progressing and excited to hear about target updates and fixes you mentioned from steemit/fc.

If you have a spare 15-20 minutes on a Friday; it would be really great if you could stop into the Beyond Bitcoin mumble (https://steemit.com/beyondbitcoin/@officialfuzzy/guest-signups-beyond-bitcoin-hangout-185-12-9-16-rsvp-to-guest-speak-about-your-blockchain-project-last-week-s-payouts-signups) and just say Hi and let us know some of the updates you think are worth merging.

I am hoping one day you may look to expand your role and take on further dev work on the platform.

Cheers,
GC

Also we have the guys from Bitkapital setting up their gateway and trading platform.
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23523.0.html

I think Bitshares Munich should get another mention as they are heading multiple projects
-> Blockpay, Echo, C-IPFS (for blockpay intergrations), Stealth, Mobile wallets
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22576.msg300341.html#msg300341

EstefanTT  is working on BitTwenty a market pegged asset, which tracks an index based on the top 20 leading cryptocurrencies.

and just this week we have started seeing mentions from John Ferguson and Travis Remington who have been working on a project which i think they name valuechoice - details are very light as this is a stealth project and they just wanted to let people know they we working away in the back ground..

All this and we barely (btsbot was the only Chinese community member project mentioned) covered what the Chinese community is doing.... given they have 1300+ people in their QQ channel and 900+ in wechat i am sure a few of them have projects in the works as well; may also eplain btc38's surge to being the leading cryptocurrency exchange for Bitshares.

outside of these projects running on Bitshares a lot of dev working is being done on other graphene chains which indirectly benefits Bitshares via code and features being built on graphene which would enable easier porting of interesting features. Projects such as Steemit, Peerplays, Muse and DAC Play

General Discussion / Re: Any non spam posts I should read here?

wow, this escalated quickly  :(

the forum has been quiet but not as hostile for a long while now.

Hi Tonyk; there is some interesting threads on Blockpay, Peerplays, Transres and OpenLedger as well as some smaller project looking grow and the merger ending should be a welcome sign for all holders.

newmine - it is an interesting time that you happened to be in the neighbourhood and thought they may stop in and say 'hi'; haven't seen you for months and all of a sudden the merger is finishing and the sun it starting to shine and bang.... here you are.. like magic... i do agree with one of your points that Bitshares is a gamechanger not sure if that comment matches your context exactly but there is a lot of potential for Bitshares; which i know you must recognise despite perceived execution.

mf-tzo - In regards to brownie.pts how do we know that 'me2' is not bytemaster? this account currently holds 230,000 brownies and bought half of that at market (i watched it happen); the other half was orders around 4-6bts

lil-jay890 - In regards to larimer lemmings being burnt on steem; i am a larimer supporter (despite feeling a bit unloved at the moment, the platform that was left for us is top shelf, it does need some further development i will agree but the base products function well and we have budget to pay core devs) so back to steem... i am not an early adopter, i did not mine but i am very far from burnt from the experience . sorry if your faith did not stretch that far that you were around to hear from the horses mouth and get involved. A lot of members from this community did very well, directly from their support of Dan and his visions.

Bitshares has a lot of untapped potential and the only reason the forums are so quiet is because there is a very active conversation elsewhere and members from Bitshares were first inline to try out steem so are active in that community also.

so i guess i'm going to get slammed now, but in the end one of us will be right and one of us will be wrong (and if that is me; i can live with that). Time will tell and until then it is all speculation.. but the proof is in the pudding; Bitshares as it stands today has far better tech than majority of its competition; and its competition can generally only compete against 1 or 2 features within Bitshares arsenal.

are you fearful?? because i am feeling greedy  ;D  +5%

I agree 100%, i think the vesting period ending will not cause a massive surge in pricing but i am looking for a slow increase pretty much the reverse of the last 2 years; let not underestimate the impact this has cause. it is literally 20% of the total supply that has been trickling in over a long period and once the trend is historically down why would the people receiving these 'free' shares hold for a longer term when they could sell now and use profits to by in later wehn the trend is more favourable.

I also think this negative trend has stopped a lot of would be investors/users looking at the platform in detail as why would they want to own  something that goes down in value 95% of the time, i think once the trend changes direction we will also have people more willing to look into the platform as they are doing their due diligence on a platform they are looking to invest in. once the 'Bitshares is awesome' message come from more than the small percentage of diehards we have here and people start hearing the same message from multiple people; the diehards and the people that recognised the value early will be very well placed :).

WTF guys. If you compare it with most competitors THERE IS NOTHING BETTER AND RELIABLE. You can check it. Try other decentralized exchanges. They dont work
