General Discussion / Re: MakerX - new bitshares frontend in town
« on: March 30, 2016, 12:38:59 pm »
you should remove "find markets", because i can find the not wanted market here and could try to trade.

what happens if i send BTS to a maker address? i can not use them?

General Discussion / Re: Importance of early adopters

i am using on a daily basis the online wallet and it is absolutly not really that buggy heavy.

i importet my whole keys after my harddrive crashed and the backup run smothly.

the only problem we have is sometimes the server seems to be out of sync, but this is handled in a matter of hours.

what i see as a future problem is, that "normal" user are not adjusted to take their backup in their own hands, so this should be
considered. The devs are working on a serverside backup, but i think this will only solve 1 of 2 major problems with the end
customers

1. "i need to backup, because something happend with my own machine" - here we have a solution
2. "sry, i forgot my password and i need a new password" - daily used for email, facebook etc. recovery and i think
you can address this problem if you force all users on your plattform to make a 3way account. 2 accounts they or a friend holds and 1 key for you
- with this solution we could provide most of the users a solution if they are loosing keys or have no backups

So, i think the wallet in it current form is a good startingpoint and is stable enough to make it your core feature and you code your stuff around it.

Meanwhile....

which social contract?

with great power comes great responsibility and when you invest in a coin with votingpower you should ask
if the exchange who votes is voting as you would. So if you agree with yunbi it should be fine to let your
BTS on this exchange, if not you should move your BTS.

I think this shows just how fragile a blockchain is, who the riches decides what we can vote for. this is
the reason why in RL you have for one personen one vote. but the truth is BTS is not a democracy, it is
more like a cooperation, where the biggest stakeholder has the biggest voting power and the rest doesn't count.

General Discussion / Re: Move BTS from Polo to Bitshares 2.0
« on: March 26, 2016, 09:52:15 pm »
Thanks Speedy,

I was looking on Polo and is says: ´Deposit address: poloniexwallet´ So that is simply my username.

Thanks - Peter

When depositing into Poloniex, you MUST include the code in your memo field.

Deposit address: poloniexwallet
Memo: some alphanumeric string

If you don't include the memo, Poloniex will not credit your account.

its all said

if you transfer to poloniex you need to send to "poloniexwallet" + MEMO you see in your DEposit/Withrawel page in poloniex

if you want to transfer out of poloniex just use your BTS name in your wallet as reciever without memo.

in the faq it is stated he means OPEN.BTC and OPEN.ETH, so i don't know why this addresses are needed.

General Discussion / Re: BTC/BitBTC bridge?
« on: March 19, 2016, 04:20:01 pm »
I don't understand what OP means. There are UIAs in bitshares which are hard pegged to BTC. They are useful to deposit/withdraw funds into/from bitshares. Unfortunately, there is no market between bitBTC and BTC pegged UIAs. To deposit/withdraw you need to go through BTS.

we are providing liquidity also to the market METAEX.BTC /bitBTC on the bitshares exchange. https://bitshares.org/wallet/#/market/METAEX.BTC_BTC

in the past we run directly bitBTC/BTC on metaexchange.info, but the demand was not really there, so we changed the provided pairs into the internal exchange. so you
can go from BTC-->METEX.BTC-->bitBTC and visaversa. at the moment the provided liquidity is low, but if you look into our pairs it is enough for the current demand.

METAFEES are in effect a basket of 4 cryptos BTC BTS ETH NXT
METAFEES trade in the free market but are not redeemable for the basket of coins. This could be considered the first bitETF.

They have a (NAV) net asset value which was quoted by @Shentist at the last buyback.

that's true! I personal see METAFEES as a kind of index with added feature of earning some money via transfering value between the supported coins. the
risk of the UIA is the same as ever : we can run with the money or could get hacked or we have a major failure in our pricing.

i like the idea or a ETF as a smartcoin, and who would short it? the same people who are shorting bitBTC. all the believers they think BTS will outperforme
the basket.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares.openledger.info issues
« on: March 16, 2016, 06:18:11 am »
If you compare it with your bank

you choose your bank - openledger.wallet
on this bank you can have many bankaccount - same on openledger.

bitshares in this case are the backbone to connect all the banks aka walletproviders on the system.

per wallet you need only 1 backup, so if you have the need to import you get all accounts back. i had the same problem and more videos or documentations would be
really nice.

I really like the concept of Fiat on a blockchain.

I was explaining this concept to a friend of mine, how secure his money would be on the blockchain and he raised a very good question which I need help answering.

The question is: Let's say I put my savings on the bts blockchain in BitUSD, who or what can assure me that bitshares would be around in the next 5 to 10 years? What if people loose interest and the price of bts goes down to 400 sats, would I still have access to my savings? (I guess he means like a black swan event).

How can I answer these questions? Sorry I am just a novice.

i would answer your friend

"this is the reason why you buy a bitAsset in your case USD. This backed asset will be always 1 USD worth. His value doesn't relay on the underlying Bitshares. If bitshares price falls and he converts back, he gets more bitshares. the only problem would be that no one want to buy his bitshares back. but for this reason he should not put everything on the bitshares blockchain, but something"
