Follow My Vote / Re: How do you stop someone voting twice?
« on: January 28, 2016, 12:38:45 pm »
I suppose the "central authority" issues the indivisible token to each "individual". But I think this could be done in a decentralized way. If there were a reputation based system. The higher someone's reputation the more verification they can provide. It would still require a government ID or something individual. I like this verification technique that scans the pattern of blood vessels in your hand.

General Discussion / Re: Millions of Features, Features for Me!

Polls/Voting, etc are not good means of prioritizing. Profit is perhaps the most important means of prioritizing.

As a company, Cryptonomex is interested in working on the most profitable features.  Those features that we can sell for the highest price will get the highest priority.

It's important to realize some features are not directly profitable, but will result in more ease-of-use, security, or comfort for the user. For example I'd love to see the API improved (which will increase liquidity!) and also enabling 2FA to log into my wallet (btw is that crazy?).

This is a good idea, I'm hopeful that it takes off, but I also hope the "free" features like GUI improvements don't go by the wayside.

May the profit be with you!

General Discussion / Smartcoin Premiums

I know this is somehow basic Bitshares economics here but I can't find much information about smartcoins on the forum. Why are people willing to buy USD at a 10% more than the settlement price?

Also, when I click on settle asset there is a 1 billion bts fee... equivalent to this feature being turned off?

ohhh on double checking there is only a 200 bts fee. righto.... when I settle does it use the sell wall or the settlement price?

General Discussion / Re: Show something good on the front page

I don't see much difference.

You sign in polo then you click on exchange and you there.

You sign in OL, then you click on the trade tab and you have a list of the markets, you click and you are there.

It might be good enough for you as an existing user, but is the exchange good enough to convince someone who still wants to believe that BitShares is just an altcoin? Giving the charts quickly on the frontpage without having to register is the way to overcome that misconception.

If you want to share a link just share one direct to the USD market rather than mucking around https://bitshares.org/wallet/#/market/USD_BTS. I don't think you need an account to see that do you?
