Technical Support / Question: How to get a historical wallet balance?

How does one get a historical wallet balance for an arbitrary time in the past?

Can any wallet or web site easily do this yet?

How does one get a historical wallet balance for an arbitrary time in the past?

There once was a technical support forum, but I could not find that so am asking here.

There is a great way for people to vote for delegates on the Bitshare block chain, including the ability to delegate their vote to others.  It seems to me that we need some way to expand this so people can vote (and delegate their vote) to arbitrary 3rd party survey / petition systems.

In other words, instead of voting your shares for a particular delegate you would vote your shares for a 3 number identifier.  The first number would identify a 3rd party, such as Canonizer.com, survey monkey, or whatever.  The second number would identify a particular survey/partition, or whatever on that sight, the 3rd number would vote for a particular position/camp/answer or whatever.

Given that, people could do things like sign their shares to support petitions to accomplish things, vote for things, you could use systems like Canonizer.com to build and measure consensus or share support for a particular change in the system, or whatever.

I see there was a snapshot for Bitshares DNS, Bitshares VOTE, and a latter one for Bitshares Music.  I had Bitshares during all of these snapshots, so how, when will I get my new shares?  I also have significant Angle Shares, so when will I get the new merged Bitshares for my Angel Shares?  I also hear rumors that I will not be able to access these shares for a period of time?  Is all this documented somewhere; I can’t seem to find it.

I also hear a lot of stuff about stuff earning interest.  When, or what is that?  When will I get some interest?  Will we ever get interest on the BitUSD I am holding?....

In the wiki how to page, there is a description of how to “Attempting a wallet import to receive BTSX from February 28th snapshot”:

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares-x-how-to#Attempting_a_wallet_import_to_receive_BTSX_from_February_28th_snapshot

But I don’t see how to do this process in a current wallet.  Does anyone know how to do this in a current wallet?

General Discussion / BTS Governance voting system design
« on: November 07, 2014, 03:14:43 pm »

We are working on the designing and implementation of a system enabling BTS owners to vote their shares.  We want to do this as rapidly as possible because being able to do this is a critical prerequisite to any governance development process.  The initial design specs are being collaboratively developed in this publicly editable Google doc:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uWpw93xlJk3qwqNAaiwvMeQmXkjUt7e8rco17DOP8UA/edit?usp=sharing

As you can see, we are attempting to address a couple of design issues and need to select the best way to resolve them.

First, how will Canonizer.com verify public Keys (or Titan IDs, will using Titan IDs even be possible?) submitted by Canonizer.com users, to avoid voter fraud?  I hear this issue is already proposed, and in the system, so any detailed information along these lines would be helpful.

Next, canonizer.com currently lists all users in a camp, along with their canonized score (based on the user selected canonizer algorithm) contributing to the total canonized vote for their camp.  Obviously, if we set up a N bitshares N votes canonizer, this canonized support score will publically reveal how many shares each camp supporter has registered and verified with Canonizer.com.  While this may work for some transparent people like Brent Allsop, there is a good chance there are at least a few of you for which this will not be acceptable.  There are many ways this problem can be addressed and we have started brainstorming some of the better ideas in the design document.  We obviously could use a lot more help in this area since we want to pick a design that will do everything everyone wants.

As usual, if anyone can contribute anything to this process, anything would be appreciated.  Brent Allsop is willing to commit some capital towards this development effort.  So if anyone is willing to help with the development in any way, Brent Allsop will be able to pay you for your time in either BitUSD, Bitshares, Bitcoin, Canonizer.com coins, plain old USD, or whatever you would like.

Upwards,

Brent Allsop

What does everyone think?  Does anyone here know about these guys?  They don't seem to have a clue about us.  Can't we work together?

General Discussion / Purchasing BTSX with Ether?
« on: September 09, 2014, 10:03:39 pm »
How long after Ether is trading, will it be before we can purchase BTSX, with Ether, in the Bitshares client AKA vault?

I invested a good chunk of money in the Ether genesis block, just for fun, but would like to move it back to BTSX as soon as, and as easy as possible.

It looks to me like the volume, pricing and market caps being reported in coinmarketcap.com
only include that going on in centralized exchanges like BTC38, BTER, only for BTSX.

But what is the market cap and volume of BitUSD, and any other assets?

It doesn't look like any of them are being reported on coinmarketcap.com?

Is there an easy way to find out things like how many BitUSD are in existence, and volume, over time?

Don't know how to add an "other" value where people can add other suggestions, so maybe just post them to the forum?

Technical Support / Voting questions / issues.
« on: September 04, 2014, 02:45:21 am »

Trying to figure out this voting of my shares thing.

If I want to vote for 33 delegates on all transactions, I set up my slate for these 33, then for each transaction, I select "vote all" as in vote for everyone in my slate?  Will the random choice only vote for a random set of the 33 delegates in my current slate?

When I execute this command:

   votes <account with no shares>

I get the expected "No votes found."

But when I execute the same votes command on an account with shares, it just does nothing?

Oh, and what is an easy way to tell what version of the wallet I am running?
I believe I am on 0.4.10

Technical Support / How much is a Bitshare Satoshi
« on: September 04, 2014, 02:24:36 am »

What is the resolution of BitsharesX (how much is a Bitshare Satoshi)?

In the wallet I see 5 digits after the decimal, but in other locations I see more?

Does the wallet clip or round...?

How do you set the wallet so it will always display them all?

General Discussion / When will we achieve next order of magnitude increase?
« on: September 03, 2014, 09:16:06 pm »

Through most if Bitcoin's history, it increased in value an order of magnitude in price 7 times, and all but one of those was in almost exactly 6 months.

See this historical graph:

http://canonizer.com/topic.asp/154/2

I'm assuming the reason it has stopped this progression is because of Bitcoin 2.0, primarily BitsharesX.

And it seems that Bitshares is taking up this 10 times increase every 6 months where Bitcoin left off.

After all, most of us purchased our Genesis block Bitshares at around $0.005 per share right?  And the first bubble easily made it past $0.05 in about 6 months time.

My prediction is that it will hit $0.50 per share in less than 6 months, and that this rate will continue for some time.  Anyone have any arguments for a different view?

Also, just as I've been predicting, the price of Bitshares would be depressed until the Either sale ended, many people taking their 10 times profit and rolling into Either.  Now that is over, the price looks like it is starting to move again.

General Discussion / Failure to peg currencies to USD?
« on: September 03, 2014, 04:16:39 pm »
Other countries, such as China, have tried to peg currencies to the USD for some time.  The only way they do this, is by purchasing, and holding in reserve, huge amounts of USD.

This community seems to think they will be able to achieve a peg of BitUSD to the USD, with nothing other than a few hard defined mathematical formula to determine prices, fees, and so on.

Can someone explain to me how and why BitUSD will work, with no "government" controlling things, while it seems to me nothing like this has ever worked before, without huge expenses, and a very powerful government making centrally controlled decisions, in the past?
