Hi Clayop,

Unfortunately the wallet is having problems keeping the sync, we are already working on it but we do not have an ETA as of now.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

I have same problem!! 24 hours and no bts deposit showing.

Johnny Garcia told me "they are looking for a solution"

They seem to be having lots of problems with BTS deposit... just while BTS was at 0.000013 btc, coincidence?

What percentage of merchants accept USD in Argentina? If non-trivial, then maybe bitUSD would be a better payment method than bitARS. that way you can piggyback on, and contribute to, the liquidity of the dominant smartcoin at the moment. another benefit to any Argentinian using it is that it wouldn't have the same ARS-USD depreciation you guys are plagued with down there. accumulating bitUSD would also be much more useful if/when we get some bitUSD-USD gateways up here for you to clear back into plain old USD (or BTS, BTC, gold, bitGOLD, or whatever else people may want).

I dont think is legal to accept USD or any other currency in Argentina as a payment option, I agree that USD is way more stable and BitArs wouldnt really work for "saving" money. However we are thinking of possible using BitArs in a different way, more like an online decentralized payment solution, sort of like a reliable PayPal (Which we only have with limited access). We may even have some cooperation with the Bitcoin Embassy to act as a bridge!

we are going to give it some thought and put out a statment soon,

Really appreciate your comments!

Regards

I stop using their services when I realize they decide whatever rate they feel like on their weak currencies.... for example they have Argentinian pesos at 19 peso per dollar, when in reality is 14.9, so basically they just slowly take the money from people who deposit on those currencies...

Me and a couple of friends even contacted their support and they said "they were looking for a solution" instead they devaluated the peso even more  while we waited lol... very cheeky on their part!

Hello,

I found this old thread and I have also been looking for Bitshare supportes in Argentina.

I have been contemplating the idea of creating a smartcoin for Argentinians Peso, is this something you guys have evaluated yet?

I am willing to support and help you guys in whatever way possible.

Just drop me a PM if you think I can help in any way..

it's great you're rallying support from other Argentinians, but--and this is just my American perspective--wouldn't it be useful for Argentinians to park funds in bitUSD instead of a bitARS? we're having a tough time creating enough liquidity with bitUSD, so i would think the problem would be worse for a bitARS.

what would be very useful for your local market would be a gateway from ARS to BTS, then people could buy whatever other BTS-synthesized assets, like bitUSD, bitGOLD, etc.

Yes, you are right the liquidity would be a problem, specially for a coin that has a tendency of constantly depreciating....

This is why I think the utility of having bitArs would be to allow argentinians to trade BTS assets with their local currency, a gateway for them to obtain bitArs with pesos would be needed for this to happen.

I think argentinians would trade a lot more if they knew about the possibility of doing it in a decentralized exchange, currently we are the number 1 country in latin america using Bitcoin however there is not 1 big exchange in Argentina, I think this is because trust issues (hell we dont even trust goverment, nevermind an exchange). Most of the trades are being carried out trough LocalBitcoins, or brookers who are contacted via Facebook.

So, in conclusion, yes you are right, it would be really hard to provide liquidity for BitArs and this smartcoin will probably lose value over time, like the real argentain peso does, but if we can find real use for it and get people to use the exchange then it would be worth it.

P.S: I am already in very preliminar talks with some of Argentina´s Bitshares Team to "put our money where our mouth is" and provide some initial liquidity by shorting some of our BTS and generate the initial "reserve" of BitArs

Technical Support / Re: OPEC OIL Price Feed

Worker proposal to pay for a service that provides a feed. OR since witnesses get paid and feeds are their responsability, they should all donate a bit of their pay to a fund that will be used to pay for a service that can provide a feed.

I would support either of these proposals

I've also looked at quandl as a feed source but I think a daily feed is much too slow.
The blockchain must react quickly to price changes, and commodities are sometimes quite volatile.

Thats a shame, I would have loved to trade Oil  :-[

Technical Support / OPEC OIL Price Feed
« on: February 05, 2016, 06:00:22 pm »
Hello,

I see that the Oil "Smartcoin" has no feed provided due to the difficulty of finding a free oil price feed. Well, this is true for WTI Crude Oil and also for ICE Brent Oil, however I found a daily price feed for OIL that may work for a OPEC OIL smartcoin:

https://www.quandl.com/api/v3/datasets/OPEC/ORB.json?auth_token=cbxyQU-PDEH9BHf8RXR-

You can get that feed for free on quandl.com, I know myself as much as many others would like to trade oil if there was a proper price feed that works.

Can the Committe get a smartcoin with this feed or do they need and hourly feed?

Thanks!

@hcf27: It shouldn't be your task to fill up the fee pool of obits and you have no benefit from doing so ... i have notified @ccedk to refill the pool ..

If you download the cli-wallet, you don't need to download the blockchain, you can connect to any of the existing full nodes (e.g. wss://bitshares.openledger.info/ws)

I see, so I can only fill my the pool of the assets I created?... I get the same message for gold or for usd...

really I was just playing around to see if it was possible
Technically you could fill any fee pool .. at least the blockchain would accept those transactions .. however, there seems to be a limitation in the user interface that assumes that you are the owner and expects you own the keys of the owner ... even though it wouldn't need them ..
The cli-wallet is a little more flexible and lets you define from which account to pay the "pool fund" transaction .. but the web GUI does not yet ..

Thanks for all your help, I sent you a little tip for all your troubles and answering my stupid questions lol
