Borrow bitUSD, buy OPEN.SBD, move it to Poloniex, sell for BTC, buy whatever, move it to DEX.

General Discussion / Just an idea I want to share. [sci-fi]
« on: February 05, 2017, 12:48:08 am »
I was thinking about contract that pays you token  if you pay into reserve pool at 1 x feed price . Token issued by contract is pegged to feed and can't be destroyed.  The peg is kept by faith of the players. Faith is measured by power of believers (issued supply).
Transaction is proof of transmutation.

Market could start as a community game, for fun.

Openledger / Ethereum hardfork
« on: July 16, 2016, 03:20:53 pm »
 https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2016.07.15-Ethereum-Hard-Fork/

"In addition, for those interested in keeping their tokens from the losing blockchain as a keepsake, we will support a one-time withdrawal of the deprecated tokens, provided that the losing chain is still functional when you attempt a withdrawal. Specific instructions on how to access your tokens on the old chain to follow."

What is Openledger statement? How it will be managed?.

Or maybe you could take oportunity (maybe risky in ETH case, not sure) and manage event using this logic*:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22638.msg294494.html#msg294494

Which would reguired:
-Assurance that crosschain transactions not occur
-Forked and unforked whallets to manage deposits => chain1 and chain2
-New assets: OPEN.CHAIN1 OPEN.CHAIN2
-After the fork OPEN.ETH can't be withdrawed or deposited, just OPEN.CHAIN1 and OPEN.CHAIN2

Pros:
Revolutionary market that certainly bring some attention.
Alowing deposits and withdrawals when everybody's shutdown.
Gaining know-how - there may be more events as this in future.

Cons:
Not much time to think, something can go wrong.

What will happen when bitCNY:BTS become volume leader? Maybe i'm over optimistic but if this was not possible then i'm not interested with BTS.
I've been wondering whether scenario such as this could have catastrophic consequences? Are you ready for that?
I'm sure this was already discussed 1000 times here (i think event like this is Bitshares wet dream) but i couldn't find any good topic about.

General Discussion / Bitcoin fork futures
« on: June 09, 2016, 03:41:31 pm »
Ok guys, here is a story:
https://bitco.in/forum/threads/gold-collapsing-bitcoin-up.16/page-621#post-22017

Quote
That's exactly what I've meant. Maybe I am getting the terminology a little off and that is throwing some people. Unless I'm forgetting some details, all I mean by "fork futures" is that, say, Huobi says something like:

NOTICE: On September 1st a spinoff of Bitcoin will go live, meaning your balance (currently 8 BTC) held on Huobi will entitle you to withdraw that amount in both sides of the spinoff. If you would like to adjust the ratios, we have set up a market for you to trade the 'rights to withdraw BTC' (in one or the other side of the spinoff) with other users. Note that any amount of BTC not entered into trading on this market can be withdrawn at any time, but the amounts entered into trading on this market won't be withdrawable until September 1st."
It is like Openledger ICO sells, just easier i think.
Can be done?
