General Discussion / Shorting question
« on: September 03, 2014, 06:20:01 pm »
Hi,

I have shorted $100 today at 33.8761.  At the moment median price is 32.7466. According to my understanding BTSX have gone up in relation to USD.
So I thought to cash in the profit by covering my short so I bought $100  for 3119 BTSX. That would give me profit 3387.61 - 3119 = 268.61 BTSX  :)
Open Orders are showing my short, but there is not Cover button so I do not know how to proceed with Cover.
I would be very grateful if somebody could tell me where I am making mistake?

Kind Regards
aloha  :)

Like you, I have to reinstall an earlier version.  I will do that but there are some things I do, some things I dont.  I believe that talking on this forum is the most important aspect of my digital waiterness.

Hi eagleeye,

Forgive me I am a not very technical but can you please explain to me what is digital waiterness?

Its a person that goes from thread to thread, comment to comment, with prior past knowledge and experience and takes peoples orders (comments) and gives them what they want.  All I ask in the end is maybe a tip.  But only if this succeeds and not now.  My job is to satisfy each and every client, whether they are rich, or poor, whether are developers, or side developers, or legal team, or just general users etc.

Also I should have said Digital Waiter.

You are funny guy  :). I would like to tip you with BTSX just need registered account  name.

General Discussion / Re: Account Registration and Delegates
« on: September 02, 2014, 01:20:17 pm »
Hi sezerain,

Yes it is label for convenience and privacy also  :)

Delegates are nodes  who produce blocks and verify transactions in BTSX system. There is 101 delegate and anybody can become one if you have enough votes from BTSX shareholders. Their job is similar to that of the miners in Bitcoin system, except that Bitcon miners are using POW (proof of work) and Bitshare delegates using DPOS (delegated proof of stake)
I would also recommend to check out bithshares wiki for more detailed and accurate info. Here is link http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Main_Page

Kind Regards  :)

The real enemy is the legacy financial system and establishment.  They are losing.
I do not think they are enemy, they have just stopped evolving and that is much worse.
You stop evolving in the system which is evolving you are left behind. I am not feeling animosity toward current financial system any more than I am feeling animosity toward black and white TVs, they are in the process of becoming irrelevant.  :)

HI suzerain,

Welcome to the forum and Bithsares community  :)
1. If somebody is sending to you bitcoins you would need to provide them with bitcoin address which is normally long string of numbers and letters mixed (5AzpjhXsKi2Bhrj2S8FY9ovRrAXkoDucs).
If somebody is sending you bitshares all you will need is name which is in my case aloha and you can see others on this forum, in most cases their names represent their receiving address. When you register your account name ( as you can see on the forum most people use nicknames for privacy, but you can register your real names if you wish so) that name becomes your receiving address. If I send bitcoins to your bitcoin address you will be able to check how much bitcoins I have in my wallet, but if I send you bitshares to your registered name you would not be able to find out balance of my account without some expert knowledge and time.
So it is for convenience and security that you should register your account (no personal info required).
System which allows you to Transfer Invisibly To Any Name is called TITAN.
If my explanation make sense to you I will try with your second question if not just ignore it and forgive me for unclear explanation. :)

Hi gazadon4,
Welcome to the forum and to the Bitshares community. Feel free to check out the forum and ask any questions.  :)

I placed buy order for 1 BitBTC for 15700BTSX. After a while I received 0.99999998 BTC and 15,699.99984 BTSX was deducted.
Problem is with remaining 0.00016 BTSX which is still in open orders and it can not be cancelled as I get message that cancelation fee is higher than balance being cancelled.
You can see it in Buy Orders second from the top. It is not causing any problems for me, but just wanted to report it.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Was TITAN a bad idea (terribly timed feature)?
« on: September 01, 2014, 01:12:52 pm »
TITAN is great...
But it would be awesome if somebody could choose some accounts to work without it somehow with a button for example right to the account...
So the user could choose which account are "hidden" and which not ...

2 in 1...

Sorry but I think that is terrible idea.  You can imagine that in the future government could force payment gateways to only deal with BTSX account which are not using TITAN.

If you take away the ability for people to choose, they will just move up a layer, and refuse to use that entire type of crypto currency which uses anything like Titan.

It will always come back to hurt you when you do anything to destroy something someone else wants.  It will always come back by someone else trying to destroy what you want, one way or another.  The only way is to find out what everyone wants, and find creative ways to get all of it for everyone.  Only then, will it not come back to byte you, by someone else trying to destroy what you want.
Hi Brent.Allsop,

I think it will be very hard to get all of it for everyone. :)
With BTSX, will be either privacy for everyone or transparency for everyone. Just look at BTC, it is nearly impossible to get more privacy in the code now. In the perfect world I agree we could have a choice, but this is the world  where governments would use this option to force everybody to be transparent so they would know everything about everybody.
We have example of this already with so called tainted bitcoins. I am personally for 100% privacy for private individuals and 100% transparency for the governments and all public bodies. Governments spend our money therefore need for transparency, but not for us as we do not spend others people money. Maybe one day we will have fork of BTSX without TITAN if there is enough demand for it. For me I say more TITAN and more privacy for individuals.

Respectfully
aloha  :)
