General Discussion / Small proposed adjustment to BTS sharedropped to DNS
« on: November 07, 2014, 04:54:13 pm »
My best judgement says that rather than scaling up non-dev funds and using all of I3 to give a pre-proposal bonus, I'd like to use the unspent claimed portion to pay pre-DNS holders (about 150mn DNS).

* Pre-proposal DNS sharedrop would about 3.5x as much - some of this would go in lump sums to exchanges to do a best-effort
* Post-proposal DNS sharedrop (BTS long-term discounter buyers) would get about 2% 3.7% less ("diluted" to ~4.20 up from 4.05)
* In all cases, DNS dev stake and PaNGEL still wouldn't end up with any BTS from DNS.

Please only respond with specific problems after you have read through everything.
As we finalize it I will make more friendly summaries of what stake was excluded / rearranged / scaled.

General Discussion / Test snapshot for AGS, PTS, VOTE - version 1
« on: November 04, 2014, 09:04:30 pm »
The latest test network has vesting balances that start on nov 1 and vest over 2 years. The totals should be:

174,125,000 for AGS   (keyhotee founders removed)
175,000,000 for PTS    (nov 1st - this will change for the real thing)
44,887,500 for VOTE    (FMV's stake not included here but will be in the real thing, keyhotee founders removed from AGS)

Please alert about anything that seems off - we will do several iterations as we finalize more parts.

KeyID / KeyID v0.0.5 windows build

https://github.com/keyid/keyid/releases/tag/v0.0.5

I have not tested windows independently yet, but it works fine for other systems. Will put it on github in a few hours if nobody has complaints.

General Discussion / BTS Governance step 1: Basic stake polling
« on: November 01, 2014, 07:39:49 pm »
The BTS blockchain is used to secure one consensus measure: percent ownership. The only purpose of a "constitution" is to define an initial social consensus to let stakeholders self-select into it. BTS ownership is already well-defined but its goals are not clear yet. Once a DAC is being traded, the will of its majority stakeholders can change and that will change the actions of the DAC. You can choose to still claim there's a constitution to help explain what the expected behavior of the DAC is based on its current shareholders, but the technology does not recognize it.

The blockchain can be used to document decisions about stakeholder intent that becomes impossible to muddle in the future. Once we get things figured out using off-chain systems that don't require core dev time, we can move more governance functions into the actual BTS client.

It would be good if a dev could do this:

1) Take daily BTS snapshots to obtain a map from address to amount
2) Make a curated list of issues. Request a signature on (issue_id, decision) for each balance from users. A utility to create these signatures in bulk in a standard format is needed.
3) Keep a running total of votes for each issue, allowing people to change the vote of a balance during the day.
4) Test actively, and start using it to make real decisions to force stakeholder engagement

Once this is in place we can start refining how the will of BTS leader+whale hivemind can be computed

Marketplace / BitUSD on/off: amazon wish lists

Amazon is a universal retailer

BTS is already an effective marketplace DAC in my eyes...

edit:   False alarm. But warnings in this post are still true of course.

I've been warning DSL about this and it looks like it might have happened...

We have reason to suspect that there is a malicious BTSX client being injected when people try to download from the the non-https version of bitshares-x.info.

Legit versions with hashes (still not signed by DSL but w/e at least github should be secure):  https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases

Until DSL fixes it to automatically use https, always type it explicitly:
https://bitshares-x.info

Will update when I have more info.

Not counting exchanges that trade PTS but never participated in anything, of course...

Once that sell wall disappears we can start matching shorts that pay interest.

中文 (Chinese) / BTC38 snapshot for DNS holders prior to price collapse
« on: October 23, 2014, 03:23:18 pm »
if you *bought* DNS on btc38 before the price collapsed, you will get extra BTS shares to compensate.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10446.0;topicseen

Again, I'm very sorry for the huge loss of value caused by BM's allocation proposal.

60
Any DNS stake that had gone through a buy/sell prior to the retroactive snapshot (around 4pm oct 21) but had not left BTC38 will be accounted for and BTC38 will be given a lump sump of BTS to give to those people.

edit/update: BTER has said they can do rollbacks on an account-by-account basis. We will help figure out how much DNS was bought and give them a lump sum as well.

No guarantees that it will be enough to do 1:1 match, since this will completely clean out I3's DNS stake and will probably end up spread pretty thin.

Thanks!
