KeyID / [DNS] Advanced user testnet #3
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:25:57 pm »
In my feverish delusions last night at 3am I realized the cause of the Big Bug in the last testnet. It seems to work now.

http://github.com/keyid/keyid
master branch

*  This is the proposed *final* genesis block, modulo dev fund keys
*  Wallet still requires manual rescan for most DNS operations
*  Auction parameters are not what the real ones  -  in particular, auctions only last 1 minute and domains expire after 1 day. "Spotlight" / "kickback throttle size" is hard-coded to 3.
*  Brave users can try to build the GUI and check out the new user onboarding flow  (as soon as dbrock comes online and updates the freekeyid.com client). The GUI for the domain auction is still not ready.

If all goes well we will use this test network to test the GUI once it is polished up - if that works too then we are good to go.

Watch this space for updates:  keyid.info

KeyID / Agent86 wins again

We're switching to his great cost-carrying model for domains as described here:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6561.0

Expect a test net on Monday.

KeyID / Good idea to reallocate part of dev fund for NMC and BTC?
« on: September 19, 2014, 02:45:40 pm »
I keep going back and forth on this one. What do you think about 1% of the initial supply to each?

The biggest argument against it has been that they would simply claim and dump... but what if it's only 1%?

So dev allocation would go from 20% to 18%.

More gui updates will be pushed tomorrow

KeyID / Test network #2 - still advanced users only
« on: September 07, 2014, 05:40:50 pm »
https://github.com/das-lab/DNS     master branch

Changes:

* Just for fun, this test net will have two second blocks
* Asset name changed from "BDNS" to "DNS"
* This one uses the real AGS/PTS allocations
* The "hidden auction" bug seems to have been perturbed out of existence. If you see it again please send me the default.log and a description of exactly what you did.
* dbrock is working on the GUI which is intermittently available at dns.vaporware.io
* Auction details appear in "dotp2p_info"
* Domains expire after 1 day instead of 2 hours

General Discussion / Delegates: Publish price feeds for BitBTC
« on: August 28, 2014, 10:42:07 pm »
You are welcome to start placing orders, if you get enough depth then the markets will open. If not dan will put up orders tomorrow.

Remember, the code for using price feeds / moving average (when no feeds) to restrict short price is in place and can be activated via hard fork. 0.4.10 will not enable this feature, but 0.4.11 might.

KeyID / [DNS] test network for advanced users
« on: August 27, 2014, 09:19:46 pm »
There's a test network. I'm not really giving it any attention b/c of BTSX but I will answer questions and make note of bugs

https://github.com/das-lab/DNS
on branch master

Everything should work except that the wallet transaction history does not interpret the domain transactions properly.

Temporary paramters:
The auction throttle size is hard-coded to 3.
Auction duration is 5 minutes (you have to spend 5 minutes in the top 3 without any bids).
Domain expiration is 2 hours.

Writeup about how much you get back for getting outbid coming soon, here's a rough version:
"""
*  The first time a domain is bid on, if you get outbid, you only get 95% back
*  Afterwards, if you bid on a domain that is "in the throttle" (one of the top K domains) and you get outbid, you get 110% back
*  If you bid on a domain that is not in the throttle  (not in top K and not the first bid), and you get outbid, you get 100% back
AND:  the next person's "required minimum bid" is your bid + the difference between your bid and your required bid
so you have to outbid the last person by more than they outbid the previous person by
"""

KeyID / [DNS] Check your Snapshot.
« on: August 27, 2014, 08:12:07 pm »
http://bitshares.org/dns_genesis_ags_pts.txt

I generated it using a tool. Divide by 100,000,000 to get your balance in DNS.

It should be  1,000 * AGS
Or   ????  * PTS
Missing from the json is 1bn developer fund.

Can someone tell me the total supply in this block so we can check balances:
PTS block:  https://coinplorer.com/PTS/Blocks/0000001418b7dbf283dc1e7454fafdafc8934ba8640c263ee77de92e5eca74ee

General Discussion / Consensus Markets
« on: August 26, 2014, 01:52:41 pm »
What is a "consensus market" (BitAssets).

Every "quick / 30-second" explanation of BitUSD I have seen just explains what shorting means. To anyone who already knows what it means and is confused about "ok but why does 1 USD = 1 BitUSD" there is no "quick" answer, except maybe a link to wiki.bitshares.org. Right now the closest thing to a name for the thing that makes BitAssets possible is "market peg" but it does not describe the system or asset class.

Let's start calling "BitAsset markets"  -->  "consensus markets"

Please help collect threads that are about "consensus markets" and not "trading mechanics"
