Monthly witness report for blckchnd №1 and RuDEX update

Welcome!
In the spirit of making our activity more transparent we’ve decided to start publishing monthly reports on our work as a Bitshares witness. Start of the new year is a good time to start doing it, since it is a milestone that you can look back from and see that a lot of small steps resulted in a long journey.

Technical work

We've been supporting an interrupted service of our access point for Bitshares DEX in RuDEX with the following technical park

This month due to the significantly increased load we’ve added two additional servers for full API nodes (one public, one for our internal use):

- Type: Dedicated
- Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 v2 @ 3.50GHz
- Cores: 4
- Ram: 128 GB DDR3
- 2 x 220 GB SSD
- Connection: 1 Gbit/s
- Location: Germany

We also support gateway for Steem, Golos, Peerplays, Muse, and recently for Karma and Decent

Awareness and outreach activities

We’ve started this as an awareness and outreach mission, that we’re diligently working on to this day.
Other than creating and maintaining first Russian interface for Bitshares, our team has translated and published several hundred articles about Bitshares Dex, including weekly State of the Network reports that are produced by steempower
In last three months the number of such articles was over fifty, with 17 of them published during December 2017.

As part of our mission to bring Graphene technology to mass awareness and acceptance we’ve presented Bitshares and RuDEX at X conferences in St. Petersburg and Moscow (not counting our participation in SteemFest and SteemFest2).




For the same reason we’ve also created and are moderating Russian language developer chats.
We’re also actively moderating Russian language threads on bitcointalk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1875875.0, which is now more than 15 pages in length (18,5k views).

We’ve requested TradingView to add Bitshares DEX into the exchange list, and you can support this by liking and commenting on this thread https://getsatisfaction.com/tradingview/topics/addition-of-bitshares-based-decentralized-exchange-s.

On top of that we’re helping several teams that are working on creating their own interfaces and/or businesses based on Bitshares DEX.
It seems that our bad influence is contagious.

We’re expanding our support for Graphene based chains by creating gateways with 0% market fee on Bitshares DEX. So far we’ve launched the following Graphene-based gateways:


  -  PPY
  - GOLOS/GBG
  - STEEM/SBD
  - MUSE
  - KRM

Today we’re glad to present another gateway to a blockchain that was launched fairly recently: DECENT.

DECENT  is a revolutionary blockchain technology, that allows content creators to instantly access the global marketplace. In addition to an ability to valuate your content, DECENT removes the costs of outside services, provides instant payments and simplifies crowdfunding.

DECENT offers its users ease of use and reliability of traditional distribution channels, as well as an ability to directly support your favorite authors.

As usual we’ve set the market fee for RUDEX.DCT to 0%.

During the design of the gateway we were aiming to ensure the following parameters:

    - Security
    - Independency
    - Transparency and ease of audit
    - Strict correlation between amount of tokens in the wallet and on the DEX
    - Minimization of the fees
    - Ease of use
    - Stability

As always one of the goals during the gateway creation was an ability to publicly audit it.

As you probably noticed that recently we registered RUDEX.DCT assets on the Bitshares blockchain.

The amount of DCT on DEX will be the same as the amount of DCT that the gateway has on DECENT blockchain. The gateway is set up so that the amount on the DEX can be smaller than on our wallet, but it can’t be higher. So you can always be sure that money never appears on the DEX out of nowhere.

    - when you deposit your tokens to the Bitshares network, the required amount is issued
    - when you withdraw the tokens, the required amount is burned

That way the amount of UIA tokens (RUDEX.DCT) is de-facto equal to the amount on our wallets. For DCT it is rudex wallet.

In the future our gateways would have a stand alone section for auditing them on rudex.org. But for now you can use the following services:

Short guide on using the gateway

Our goal was not only to create a convenient instrument for people to use (we’re working on making it completely open source), but also move towards more decentralization, since more gateways the DEX has, the less centralization around any one of of them.

One of the features of our gateway that makes it different from the existing ones, is that as a Graphene ambassador, we’re setting 0% market fees for chains based on this technology. We can afford that from the witness payments that we receive.
