Meta / Re: do you have modify the trade logic in this fork?
« on: December 24, 2017, 07:23:14 pm »
I agree with @alt , this needs to be fixed. If we continue to have the sharp price drops in crypto we are bound to have some margin calls and the losses will be much greater than they should have been. This should work properly by using your Smart asset to reduce the collateral first, then fill all orders until sold or until it reaches the margin call price.

The elasticsearch looks pretty straight forward, I am open to getting this installed on my Los Angeles node to get this tested as well.

General Discussion / Re: General Questions: BitShares, OpenLedger & Obits

1. When you say 'network' what's that mean exactly? Who/What is The Network?

Bitshares has what's called a "Reserve pool" that's where the network fees go. So the network can pay witnesses and developers out of that pool.

Technical Support / Re: Creating a fiat gateway

Seriously, no one knows?
@xeroc @pc @abit @bitcrab  guys, I'm trying to start a business here and bring more people to the platform
To get your new gateway you need to create your smart coin and ask witnesses or people you select (trustworthy) to feed the prices. Then you need to have a developer modify the GUI (https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui) to fit your business needs. The bottom line here is that you need to have someone knowledgeable write the code for your gateway, there is no "out the box" solution for it. All our gateways are custom written by the owner companies (OL, Blocktrades, Rudex etc.). And you can  add your language here:  https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui/tree/staging/app/assets/locales

Good luck with the Gateway and your new business.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Full node

As promised, please find below the roadmap for the next few weeks.

https://github.com/blockchainprojects/2017-12-infrastructure/blob/master/Roadmap_2017-12-infrastructure.pdf

As usual, i am open for constructive feedback.

As far as the node deployment 2 in US and 2 in Asia Pacific. I see that you already have one in Tokyo, would you consider putting a second one in Australia? I think we have none there.

84
Currently the node is locat in East US. However, it can easily be migrated to a region most in need. May I receive your suggestion?

That is great. Looks like it's in Boydton, Virginia USA. We finally have a strong API Nodes network in the USA. I counted 6 USA nodes now.

I added a new API node in Los Angeles, if you are close to it you can try adding it in:
Code: [Select]
wss://la.dexnode.net/ws Since it's not on the list yet it has a very low traffic.

86
API server now live: ws://52.179.155.209

As load demands, I will add node(s) to a load balancer and publish the endpoint.
Do you also provide a secure websocket on this ip?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Seed Nodes
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:05:32 pm »
hi experts, my company has a server which is online 24/7 and have permanent ip address.  can we make this server also bitshares server?  what are the requirements to become a seed?  do seeds earn bts in return?
Only witness nodes get rewards.

I am glad you are bringing this up. @xeroc 's worker needs votes ASAP. Most witnesses that run gateways provide public nodes. But that's not enough! My Public API node now runs at 66GB RAM and doubled the average open connections from last month. This is becoming the true cost of the infrastructure vs. running the witness node which can be now tweaked to run under 2GB RAM. I know @startail also provides the API node but is not voted in. There was some talk among the devs about reducing the RAM requirement for the full nodes and that would help lower the cost of the full nodes because right now we are looking at 96GB minimum, 128GB recommended and 256GB to be safe and we need several of them to handle the traffic.

General Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitshares gateway GDEX is launching
« on: November 28, 2017, 05:00:42 pm »
I can also do a pull request to have your access node added (wss://ws.gdex.io) to bitshares-ui if you are ok with it?

please don't, this node is planned for GDEX use only to ensure quick processing without jam, later we will build some other nodes for public use.
OK, no problem.

Congrats!

Let the web crew know that they need to upgrade the bitshares-ui, they have the one that has a bug displaying the version (lower left bottom). It display correctly in the latest one.
