If this marketing campaign could attract only half the bitcoin population to use bitshares I would even be willing to give up 50% or even more. Imagine how much other DAC's would make then. I can wait a few years for my millions  8)

Is dan still working on BitsharesX? His last commit was almost 2 weeks ago...

There is a new sticky post to track the development status:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3812.0

yeah. I know. And from that post and the commits on github it looks like he is just delegating work for it for now.. Maybe it is too much for him at the moment. With all these DAC's and conferences. I just wish he would finish this DAC first. It almost looks like he lost confidence in the success of bitsharesX. I hope this is not the case..

General Discussion / Re: Bitshare roughly estimated at $100
« on: March 20, 2014, 03:34:25 pm »
Nobody is buying this.
Thanks God. In my view it's bordeline scam.

I would very feel bad for people who buy something at ten time the market price. But I guess nobody has the same ethics.
Ten times? We will be luck if we can get $5 at the start.

Could you please explain why ?

The value of bitshares has to be proven first. A theory alone is not that valuable. Bitshares needs a large user base who actually use it for transactions. Also it has to prove that it is stable and no attacks can be made against it. Before that the risk is too high to value it at 100$ per share. As most inverstors think like this the price will be much lower. At the start. If everything works I see no problem with 100,1000 or even 10000 a share in the next 2 years.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Logos - here
« on: March 20, 2014, 10:29:14 am »
I would like to criticize the new logo a bit.  I like it on the whole, but I think a few minor tweaks could really make it shine.  It looks fine at smaller resolutions, but blown up large, a few flaws appear.

I will work my way from left to right through the letters:

*Space between "i" and "t" is a bit too tight
*Space between "t" and "s" looks a bit clumsy.  In general, I have a problem with the "s" glyph as it is asymmetrically longer on the bottom left.  On the right side of the "s", the top line and bottom curve line up perfectly.  On the left side, the bottom line protrudes further to the left than the top curve.  I do not like this asymmetry, it makes it look like it is about to fall over.  I think that it could be negated in a way that looks nice with the hook of the "t" lining up nicely with the end of the "s" curve.
*Too much space between the "s" and the "h".  Compare it with the space between the "h" and the "a", it's like twice the distance.
*On the other hand, the "h" and "a" are too close together, separate them by a little bit.
*The top tail on the "a" should be extended slightly and curved a little more to make complement the curve of the "h" next to it.
*The space between the "a" and the "r" should be closed a bit.
*The top tail of the "r" should get the same elongation treatment as the "a" to have it come closer and give a nice complement to the curve of the "e".
*The final "s" should be corrected like the first one, and moved slightly towards the "e".

I have made all of these changes using the blunt tool of Photoshop.  (My Illustrator version was too old to work with the EPS file.)  I humbly submit the revisions below (with the original on the bottom, my changes on top).  When seen as a whole, it really does not look much different.  But when you look at the individual letters, it looks much more harmonious IMO.  (Although it really needs more work, there is a little glitch in the "r".  And I did not fix the "s" completely, as doing so made it look top-heavy, but I did shorten the length of the bottom curve noticeably.)

KeyID / Re: [video] BitShares DNS
« on: March 17, 2014, 12:48:38 pm »
i like the concept but I don't understand how this will be integrated in the existing DNS infrastructure. All existing ISP's would have to switch? Or is this a whole different sector?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares FAQ Video - [Community Theater]

Thank you very much for your hard work. Have you thought about a video more in this direction? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDc7A047-is

I think it helps the user to understand the content more than just listening to a toy story 1 looking character.

I know the animator if 3I wan't to invest some AGS funds into this.

This video has good potential. Will you be using these animations? Or some infographics? Also do you plan on making a video for all the potential non-Bitcoin users? Like with focus on transfering BitAssets and how much better it is than bitcoin?

Most shops in the US can accept bitAssets just with their phones, unfortunately they aren't doing enough volume to really need a better solution.

and so I think what CrazyCripple is saying is if there is a really simple wallet that doesn't really having trading or complex features

a wallet actually geared at non-crypto users.

I think a lot of the population that HATES bitcoin today, will accept bitAssets tomorrow

that could be a powerful adoption tool

Exactly what I'm trying to say. If the BitAssets really track the real world price you could even call id dollars or euros on that front end. Think of the acceptance then!
And why not. Banks do the same.

Look, you do not have to be a good salesman to "convince" a business to take BitUSD.

I just pondered today what this project is doing.

Any business in America has to be slightly crazy to NOT take BitUSD.

And that is incredible.

But because BitUSD will be a function of Bitshares, do we know how fast transactions can confirm and if a POS system is viable?  I really think this is a knockout slam dunk grand slam if we could expect good transaction speeds.

100% agree with you. But as I see it we need a bigger userbase to make this happen.

There is a GUI being developed to interact with the market and put in bids/shorts for BitUSD. There are some screenshots floating around (looks quite promising). And yes after acquiring BitAssets you can send them on to a merchant's address for example.

It doesn't look promising but its a start. The GUI needs to be configurable. It needs to be skinnable and extensible.

Well said  +5%

What do you guys think of my idea of marketing two products (Bitshares for traders and BitAssets for normal users)?
That way you could leave all the complicated stuff out of a video for example and make it more or less fool proof and focus on the real world like paying in your own currency but with all the benefits and none of the flaws of bitCoin. Video has to be in a format like this in my opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F97a-SlOTyY (I know the guy who mad this, if I3 needs an animator)

customers have to be excited about the features and how easy it is. We should not talk about the prediction market and all its features. This should be separate in my opinion.

sanity check?

If the system is a success (between other things meaning that BitUSD is actually correlated to USD), I personally think there will be people making the meat space USD directly tradable/exchangeable for BitUSD.

BUT

The BTS X do not target and or make possible this feature in itself!
i.e. Somebody else will have to make this USD BitUSD possible .And probably more than one person/entity will.

Going long (or longing as you call it) is not that hard of a concept – it simply means buying something. For now you can buy BitUSD only with BTXs.

I hope you still sleep well after learning this details 

Thank you very much.. I think the missing pieces are finally connecting in my brain :)

Yes I saw that interface. I think that in the end there should be two. An easy one for users with bitAssets and then an advanced for traders. I design GUI's for ERP Systems and I know that most people will not use the system if it is only slightly complicated. If we want to overtake bitCoin someday we have to easier to use. I think the technology is very good. I just want to encourage 3I to get more end user friendly and focus some marketing power on a BitAssets introduction video. And just mention that price tracking will be done with BitShares. People that are really interested in the technology can look it up if they want to. It is the same with bitcoin many people don't know and don't need to know what a blockchain is they just want to use the service and it has to be easy.

I know that I'm probably a bit early with this but I just want to know it 3I is going in that direction as I invested quiet some money in PTS and AGS.

Thanks :)

So as far as I understand Bitshares the real value of the system will be trading BitAssets. Shorting and longing Bitshares will be much too complicated for the standard user. There has to be an interface for this user where he can buy bitUSD or any other asset and send it to another user. This way I can go to my local store which accepts BitAssets to buy my coffee directly in my currency. Marketing should concentrate on BitAssets then right? BitAsset users won't care how the price is being tracked as long as it is the same or close to the real world asset.

Are we going in that direction?

Answer to this would be much appreciated as I now cannot sleep because I think I finally understand the huge potential of this system. :D

What if my Buddy is an adjustor and I make small claims from different users and he just pays me this claims every now and then under the cover off real ones?
