are these time recommendations the same for btc and pts?

BitShares AGS / Re: AGS Donation efficiency
« on: January 20, 2014, 11:19:41 pm »
I think it's definitely more efficient, because not only are you getting more than 1 AGS per PTS, there will likely be more Bitshares X shares per AGS than per PTS. This is because half of them will be given to PTS holders, and the other half will be given to AGS holders, and there will probably be more PTS than AGS by the time Bitshares X is released. If the release is late though, then there may be more AGS than PTS, resulting in PTS having the better ratio. It all comes down to when Bitshares X is released

Thanks!

BitShares AGS / AGS Donation efficiency
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:30:13 pm »
http://www1.agsexplorer.com/# shows that on average 47 btc and 2950 PTS are donated every day.

-> 5000/47 = 106 -> 106/71 (you get 71 PTS for 1 BTC right now) = 1.5
-> 5000/2950 = 1.69

So it is more efficient to donate PTS?

I think he is delivering the product of his life  8)

Keep going and take the critics as a chance to get even better... There is a chance in everything that looks negative.

Looks like the same last minute donation syndrome struck PTS today. Donation was 2.7k - way below the average - and within 8 minutes of the clock striking midnight 520 PTS donations cleared.

Folks - give 40 minutes for donations to clear.

as long as you send it away before time runs out it's ok right?

It has to have 1 confirm (unless I am massively mistaken, in which case the explorers are giving out wrong info).

The block generated time is taken as the time of donation.

So at which time do the pts have been sent? 1 minute before is enough?

At bad times it may go upto 20-30 minutes between blocks, so send at least 30 minutes in advance, maybe even more.

how high are the chances that the funds are received on time if pts/btc are sent in say 2 minutes before deadline?

The market will introduce a new chain and version 2 of bitshares will use a prediction market to set the rate.

Why dont we integrate a prediction market into bts in the first place?

Because it is another moving part and I want to walk before attempting to do more.   I will consider it.

Isn't bts a Prediction market?

Complete revamp of the website.

really nice!
The strong (compared to other colors) red and green (bank wins / you win) is a little over promising maybe and is the only thing strongly standing out. And why use two different fonts there?

Did you mean that

is a much more profitable way into BitsharesX. However, for future DAC
with respect to future non invictus DACS ? And why?

Both AGS and PTS will give you BitsharesX (at 50/50) and all future I3 or I3 copyrighted DACs (at least 10/10). Bytemaster has said the next DACs after BitsharesX may also award 50/50.

If BitsharesX is released within May, 1 AGS will give you more BitsharesX than 1 PTS. Its likely it will be released much earlier, in which case AGS is a much more profitable way into BitsharesX. However, for future DACs, PTS is likely to be more profitable. Then, theres also the fact that PTS is liquid.

Bytemaster thinks that some alpha version will be available in early February. Once that happens, I guess the AGS donations will shoot up (it has been dropping over the past few days).

why should PTS be more profitable for future dacs?
PTS will shoot up equally in feb then though :)
where is the place where you can see how many ags you get for 1pts/btc again?
And right now how many

General Discussion / Re: Ethereum - better than Bitshares?

Their profit model is that of bitcoin, asset appreciation.

100% of revenue is paid to miners.

A *more* important question for them is will it be more profitable to implement BitShares on top of Ethereum or with its own chain?   As a developer building a new DAC I would have to conclude I could lower expenses and increase revenue and decentralization by building my own chain.   One time development costs are nothing compared to the life time a DAC is designed to operate an the value of that DAC.

I agree with the latter.

You are right from a labor theory of value standpoint ;) In the end most people profit form price increase due to demand increase due to (potential) usability.

But I dont get the ROI model. Bitcoin has stepped up to be a currency for day to day transactions and a store of value (right now mostly valued because of its network strength). But ethereum advertises itself with being just a base layer so no services like bitcoin (basic money transfer) so there would be no value if nothing i built upon it. How do they want to avoid that I come along build on it and dont let ether holders profit from it? And how could I let the ether holders profit from it?

bytemaster, are you sure the system doesn't allow to have a separate chain but still using it/building upon it?

Your math is wrong, the inflation rate will approach 0% as the monetary base approaches infinity.

what is the monetary base in your equation?

What would be Ethereum's business model? How would ether holders profit from other developers building upon it?

Day One: Monetary Base is 2x
Year One: Monetary Base is 2.5x
Year Two: Monetary Base is 3x...

Everyone who contributes funds is diluted 33% in the genesis block, 50% by the end of the first year, 66% in 3 years and over 80% in 10 years.

What I meant was this: Ethereum doesn't provide any service by itself. It is just a base layer. So the question is: How is it assured that ether holders profit if a DAC layers on top of ethereum?
