General Discussion / Oslo Blockchain Day
« on: April 12, 2016, 07:50:35 am »
Hi,

From Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4ebgak/cheeky_bragging_i_just_finished_organizing_the/

I have been organizing a blockchain conference for the last 1,5 months. It started with creating an Facebook event one evening: "Oslo Blockchain Day: More information soon". Under a month later it's sold out and I'm going to fill a venue with 200 people. I've gotten great speakers from all over the world, most notably for you

Vinay Gupta, ConsenSys
John Lillic, ConsenSys
Jesse Grushack, ConsenSys
Henning Diedrich, IBM
Pal Krogdahl, IBM
Phil Barry, Blokur
Jack du Rose, Colony.io
Daniel Grassinger, nexussquared
Roman Mandeleil, ether.camp
Bedeho Mender, Joystream
Burak Yetiskin, Accenture

But most important at least for Bitshares is the program https://indd.adobe.com/view/2bde6e2b-4867-412a-bf78-2959b690881e
Who is representing Bitshares?

Hi,

Quick question, and most probably I got the wrong end of the stick so bear with me. If the plan is to create a BVM (or GVM or Plasma?), as per the mumble chat. Will this work the same as the EVM (or similarly).. So for example, will contracts have the same bytecode and could be compiled the same way? Will transactions will have the same parameter encoding / decoding?

General Discussion / White Label UI for Business Assets
« on: March 04, 2016, 12:23:31 pm »
Hi,

Any thoughts of a simple wallet template (not backend, just frontend) to list only 1 asset (for a business), trading pair with BTS (or selected pairs) ?

Reason: A business user can easily create a toke on their site, by just adding the template, change some colours, and define the pairs (if any to trade). Obviously a link to the main exchange should be there.

General Discussion / Hyperledger Contributions
« on: February 22, 2016, 03:55:18 pm »
Hi,

Have a look at the contributions made to the Hyperledger project:

https://github.com/hyperledger/hyperledger

Ripple, IBM, Digital Assets and Blockstream. Interesting to see IBM using "deployable" smart contracts in GO, and their offering for Bluemix, I would like to see how it competes with Azure.

General Discussion / Graphene: Data security and verification on the chain
« on: February 12, 2016, 06:42:09 pm »
Hi,

This is not a Bitshares but a Graphene question, I am interested to know what are the options using Graphene to store data which cannot be tampered but also private, and only nominated people can view it maintaining an audit of access.

Also what are the options to revoke access to the data and / or change nominated people.

More context something like this:

or this:

General Discussion / Graphene new chain or can this be done in Bitshares.
« on: November 04, 2015, 12:05:42 pm »
After a quick brainstorming on BitAssets I have been thinking what is missing for an start up to use BitAssets, and as an specific domain enabler (think Muse) what would I like to offer to other businesses.

+ Create bitAssets (shares, tokens) with us:
- Why will I chose Bitshares:  Asset creation, issuing and distribution is easy and cheap.

+ How do I finance my business?
- Features like Crowd-sourcing (it was mentioned as an extension could be added) are part of the chain.

+ Revenue distribution including micro revenue.
- Easy and cheap way to distribute revenue across asset holders.

+ Vesting period for issued assets.

Obviously Bitshares does not have all these features, and micro payments are not supported.
What are the options? If I want to target an specific business domain, should I fork graphene to enable this?
Or will this ever be possible in Bitshares, and I can create my custom wallet.

Technical Support / Bitshares 1.0 Chain backup
« on: October 14, 2015, 04:01:23 pm »
If anybody needs a backup of the chain up until today you can download it here:

https://mega.nz/#!P8BhCZ4I!NZHkhUEbrgVTNRI1QXhDJI6ly7z1Fv2nFgrpQM1UWDQ

Just perform an "scan" to get the latest transactions up until the snapshot.

Technical Support / Chain backup 2015-10-11 and how i solved my issues.
« on: October 11, 2015, 06:51:00 am »
Here is copy of the blockchain, it includes also checkpoints

You may not needed, this is how I fixed my issues:

My wallet was would not sync from the past 6 days.

So I finally launched the client rebuilding the index:

Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\BitSharesX\bin>bitshares_client.exe --rebuild-index
Waited a few hours and my client was fully synchronised.

Finally I rescanned to get the latest transactions.

Code: [Select]
scan

Hi,

I am setting up http://crypto20.org, a crypto 2.0 community fed web site to list all the Crypto 2.0 projects (noteworthy of course), to enable an easy bridge for non-crypto users to the crypto world.

The idea is to showcase all the projects, removing any fear of hype or FUD, or marketcap ranking.

An example of a project introduction is Augur's (picked first in alphabetical order). http://www.crypto20.org/augur/

or initial introduction to Bitshares http://www.crypto20.org/bitshares/

Which can be found here: https://github.com/Crypto20/Crypto20org/blob/master/augur-introduction/augur.md

Who can contribute? Anybody from the community, responding to this thread (with github id) and not flagged as a non member.
How to contribute? Create a pull request on github of the document you want to write or correct, in github https://github.com/Crypto20/Crypto20org. Instructions will be updated there.
When to contribute? As soon as possible, starting with the introduction. I think there are better people qualified than me to create / draft an introduction. It can be as easy as copy and paste, the main web site introduction for all features.

Just let me know what you think.

Extra channels, twitter: https://twitter.com/crypto20org

Extra notes: Don't put any referrals on links.

Technical Support / Smart contracts side chain
« on: August 19, 2015, 10:13:47 am »
Bitshares 2.0 is all about performance, and robust contracts. We don't want to pollute or slow down the main chain, with random contracts. BUT is it possible to have a side chain (slower) which is dedicated to smart contracts? This side chain can communicate with the main chain to do simple operations (create asset, issue asset, transfer, etc).

Technical Support / BWAPP (Bitshares web apps)
« on: August 19, 2015, 10:06:20 am »
There has been lot of talk about custom wallets and their licensing, but I would like to go up on step on the chain and see a simple example for any business to  be able to create / view and display their assets on their web application.  This can help both on attracting developers and business to Bitshares.

Very simple use case (can be prediction markets, whatever) : Note I = Example of business not me.

I have an e-commerce site, and would like to issue some vouchers / tokens to preferred customers. Customers should be able to pay using these tokens, and see their current balance on the web application. Of course some simple administration area will be required for maintenance, balances etc.

I don't want to handle any authentication / wallet management / etc. In the same way as Paypal, Facebook etc I just want the user to easily  sign in using oath.

As a business this will benefit me, as most of the infrastructure is not managed by me, it will be a total BAaaS (Bitshares Assets as a Service), and I will potentially get referral fees for new customers for Bitshares.

If we step this a level, web developers and business can have split accounts to share referral revenues.

General Discussion / Banks and exchanges turn to blockchain
« on: July 03, 2015, 11:23:02 am »
@Financial Times:

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/764aed26-198a-11e5-8201-cbdb03d71480.html#ixzz3epIjOPA8

"The blockchain — the technology that underpins bitcoin — has been called “the future for financial services infrastructure”. Now banks, clearing houses and exchanges are becoming increasingly excited at the prospect of blockchain fundamentally transforming their business models.
Last week Nasdaq said it would use blockchain technology from US start-up Chain to underpin its new private share-trading market, in one of its most high profile applications to date. Former New York Stock Exchange chief Duncan Niederauer and JPMorgan banker Blythe Masters have also lent their support to start-ups exploring its use."

Use normal registration (not paying) to read and comment, to read the whole article:

Somebody should point them out to BitShares in the comments, mainly explaining about the decentralised exchange, UIA, speed of transactions, etc, etc.
