What is the best way to ensure some type of security / half privacy before 2.0. to ensure a good setup before migration.

I am not obviously in the richest list, more like in the poor / fanboy list but nevertheless I do not want to appear in any list with all my balances.

My thoughts are the following:

1. Have a main account with lifetime membership to reduce fees (or more than one if associated others with businesses).
2. Have other accounts (as opposed to 1 cold storage) and have random amounts distributed across them, the accounts will be named randomly.
3. If I need to spend / sell pull out from one of the accounts to main account.
4. If I am buying (not much) use main account.
5. If I become rich (some miracle) step 2 again.

Please improve it, as this is rather simple.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/19641/uk-government-fund-research-digital-currencies-explore-regulation/

The government intends to apply anti-money laundering regulation to digital currency exchanges in the United Kingdom, to support innovation and prevent criminal use. The government will formally consult on the proposed regulatory approach early in the next Parliament.
The government will work with BSI (British Standards Institution) and the digital currency industry to develop voluntary standards for consumer protection.
The government is launching a new research initiative that will bring together the Research Councils, Alan Turing Institute and Digital Catapult with industry in order to address the research opportunities and challenges for digital currency technology, and will increase research funding in this area by £10 million (U.S. $14.6 million) to support this.

Time to start focusing on bitGBP? and create a regulated gateway? Any takers (im in the UK )

An attempt to restart the original discussion / comments about the Future (not current sharedrop)

I would like to retry start a discussion on the future, the way I see the share drop (not merger) is that we are just creating a bigger DAC, with possibilities of of creating your own Dapps (application in SuperDAC) but continuing having the possibility of Third Party DACs using the bitshares toolkit which should continue to comply with the Social Contract.

DApps and toolkit
Bytemaster has mentioned that in the future we will be having an scripting language like Ethereum, it will be great to start thinking / documenting how to create new DApps and how a third party can benefit from the creation of DApps.

Making the SuperDAC a decentralised application environment or OS. We could start discussion more detailed areas like UX (User Experience) for example one main OS like core applications with multiple applications, light wallets, light applications? etc.

Third party DACs
There is also the possibility of creating your own Third Party DAC, the only thing that has changed is that BitsharesX - DNS + VOTE and Play will be under the same umbrella (and of course much more in the future). These will have to comply with the Social Contract as before or a new one.

Social Contract
As noted before the Social Contract should be preserved for third party DACs, but here it could be extended to at least BTS (10%), PTS (10%), AGS (10%). Hopefully this way new and old investors will be rewarded in a multiple DAC scenario and the required compliance of Third Party DACs as the toolkit will significantly more advanced with the combined features.

It will be great that we keep the comments answering the bold headers above, this way we will to avoid silly debates on unrelated subjects, also avoid usage random pictures or metaphors so all international parties understand the thoughts. I hope this way we can all contribute to shape / understand the direction :) Also I hope that Bytemaster is allowed to comment before the PR lockout.

NOTE: The idea is postponed after further NOTICE due to the change to 3% pay.
Hi all,

I present you my delegate forum.lottocharity (BTSX) and forum-lottocharity (DNS), is a mixture of lottery and charity, for those who know me / seen my posts, I am very keen of both. :)

The lottery part

If there is any revenue any week, 35% of this revenue will go to a lottery raffle. The lottery will be initially an snapshot of the the forum members from last Friday the 22nd of August. Every month it will be added new members with more than 20 posts.

This is the list of users ordered by the number of posts, with their correspondent number for the lottery / raffle.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pii56SqqYjkM1OpUKjbR9XoZ4_fwcIZVMPJ7Ty5iC9w

The prizes will be as follow:

1st Prize: 15%
then 10 prizes of 2%.

The numbers will be picked up using http://www.random.org/ every Sunday, using the advanced sequences http://www.random.org/sequences/?mode=advanced

The winners will be notified in this thread and direct message so their accounts can be credited. In the unlikely scenario a prize is not claimed after a month, the prize will be added to the charity fund.

The charity part

35% of the revenue will be added to the charity fund, you are welcome to suggest any charity you consider worth it. For simplicity only will be considered charities that accept crypto and support a worthy cause.

The rest

20% of the revenue will be to keep the delegate running.

I hope you like the idea, if you do vote forum.lottocharity and / or  forum-lottocharity (DNS)

Edit -> Please don't vote for betax anymore
Edit -> Corrected to 35%, 35%, 20% as it will be the only delegate running.
Edit --> New delegate for DNS / KEYid forum-lottocharity

DAC PLAY / Raffle vs Raffel ? Typo, spelling or regional differences.
« on: April 07, 2014, 02:17:50 pm »
Great introduction to charities in the website http://bitshares.org/charity/, but is it Raffle or Raffel ? In UK it is raffle, but is it raffel in the US? or is it a typo.

I know this DAC has just started, personally I believe that BitShares LOTTO is a great idea as it decentralizes the lottery from governments and so call "charities" with huge administration fees.

First of all I assume the initial DAC, BitShares LOTTO, will be for profit, as it will fund the DAC development and of course pay the shareholders (AGS / PTS).

Based on that assumption I would like to propose the creation of a complementary fork (if you don't plan to already), to create a global lottery charity, this will be purely for non profit and no administration fees.  All the hard work will be put on BitShares LOTTO so it won't be necessary to add extra fees.

All the profits (everything but the prizes) will go go directly to health care (public hospitals, residences), public education, research (cancer, aids, anything).  Each daily / weekly draw can be for a specific cause.

This could have the possibility to be a true global charity, and hence remove huge waste, especially on research areas.

Rules of course will be different (IE.. euromillions vs national lottery vs other old style ball lottery) and complement each other as  other lotteries do.

This project can benefit to the whole ecosystem of DACs,  one of the hardest things will be the global purchasing of tickets, mainly exchanging fiat for a ticket. Money conversion is a general problem to any DAC, and project like this would help to open the barriers.

We should not be shy and with a project like this we should ask for resources of global players, which already have simple purchasing capabilities (paypal, microsoft, amazon, google, twitter, facebook).

Genesis
You can look /download and search for your addresses manually in the genesis
https://raw.github.com/betaxx/BTSXBalance/master/genesis.json

If you have many addresses, this tool can help you.

BTSx balance tool (no wallet required)

I have created a very simple alternative version to  check your BTSX balance without using your wallet/s. It just extracts the addresses from the output of "listaddressgroupings" or from a comma separated file and matches them to the genesis.json.

If you have lots of addresses in your PTS wallet and/or multiple donations to AGS from PTS / BTC this will make your life much easier.

Javascript version, nothing to install
Just go to the website and check your balance.
http://bitbalance.azurewebsites.net/

.Net version (windows, mac and linux )
Note, I have originally posted here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3330.msg42234#msg42234

Github source and usage
Code and usage can be found here:
https://github.com/betaxx/BTSXBalance

Compiled version
A .net compiled version can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ahri1d61zd1fc6r/BTSXBalance.zip, it runs in windows and linux / mac using mono

Example of usage:
List Address Groupings
On Bitshares-PTS or Bitcoin-QT go to debug and type "listaddressgroupings"
Copy the output for BTC on "addressGroupingsBTC.txt" and for PTS on "addressGroupingsPTS.txt"
It should look like this:

Code: [Select]
[ [ [ "12CLxa1B5V3ywxFaP7Qb5GUPF9kB7q48n4", 0.18279316, "mul2" ], [ "18wh9z4o2NWSVJijiX6CcBLXYhPdahmbKk", 0.00000000, "mul1" ] ] ]
Comma separated file
If you already know your addreseses, or use another client like "Multibit" just simply create a text file named "addressesCommaSeparated.txt" and type the addresses separated by commas

On a side note, my balance is what I was expecting :)
Have fun..

Technical Support / Compiling Bitshares in Ubuntu
« on: February 26, 2014, 12:21:15 pm »
Hi,

Please find here some quick notes I have written on compiling BitShares in a fresh image of Ubuntu.

Code: [Select]
cd ~
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git libreadline-dev uuid-dev g++ libdb++-dev libdb-dev zip libssl-dev openssl build-essential python-dev autotools-dev libicu-dev build-essential libbz2-dev

Boost
Code: [Select]
cd ~
wget -O boost_1_54_0.tar.gz http://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.54.0/boost_1_54_0.tar.gz/download
tar xzvf boost_1_54_0.tar.gz
cd boost_1_54_0/

# boost's bootsrap setup
./bootstrap.sh --prefix=/usr/local

# If we want MPI then we need to set the flag in the user-config.jam file
user_configFile=`find $PWD -name user-config.jam`
echo "using mpi ;" >> $user_configFile

# Find the maximum number of physical cores
n=`cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep "cpu cores" | uniq | awk '{print $NF}'`

    # Install boost in parallel
sudo ./b2 --with=all -j $n install

    # Reset the ldconfig, assumes you have /usr/local/lib setup already. check ROOT installation
    # blog I wrote if not. Else you can add it to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH, running this anyway
    # will not hurt.
sudo ldconfig

chmod +x install_boost.sh
./install_boost.sh

boost installation extracted from here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88131281/install_boost.sh

cmake-2.8.12.1

Code: [Select]
cd ~
wget http://www.cmake.org/files/v2.8/cmake-2.8.12.1.tar.gz
tar xvf cmake-2.8.12.1.tar.gz
cd cmake-2.8.12.1
cmake . && make

Clone the code

Code: [Select]
cd ~
git clone https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/BitShares.git
cd BitShares
git clone https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/fc.git

Run cmake
Code: [Select]
~/cmake-2.8.12.1/bin/cmake ~/BitShares
Finally compile it
Code: [Select]
cd ~/BitShares
make

If everything is ok you should have your compiled versions here:
Code: [Select]
cd bts_wallet
 ./bts_server and ./bts_wallet

Genesis 28/2

Here is a link to the genesis.json posted by bytemaster

https://github.com/betaxx/BTSXBalance/blob/master/genesis.json?raw=true

Initialising Genesis by HackFisher:
Quote
For testing, I modified the code using original genesis address and generate the testing genesis chain, you can download it and unzip in the folder of bts_server if you need.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5037011/chain.zip

after you start and login bts wallet, you can import genesis key:
Code: [Select]

importkey d987064e501555cf3d2e4e68f093a94144bc876a85c520971b747af32fa6a4c3 rescan

you get 100 BTS to play.

Check your BTSX balances without using your wallet.dat
This a shameless plug for a tool I created :) .. check it out here if you want to confirm your BTSx balance.
