Let's get all those extra features ready, and then publicized Bytemaster. If you get prediction markets, bonds, and an EVM it will be amazing.!

I don't believe the important thing is to be listed on any exchanges, it is to see some functionality. Look at Ujo music alpha launch, and they not have released any token.

The backed is rather complex, but this does not mean the fronted could hide all this.

I think it will be very difficult for them to agree on any donation .. simply because different people have different opinions and perceptions of work and "fair".
And since Committee members are unpaid, I would put an extra burden on them

bytemaster has already put that extreme burden on one man, fuzzy ... and he never asked for it. ;)

Spreading that burden around would free up fuzzy to do more work at Beyond Bitcoin and spread out the complaints among several people instead of pointed at one man that never asked to be in that position in the first place.

I respect bm so much it is a bit ridiculous...it is apparent (though it is obvious to those who pay attention that I don't always agree with him).  However, I can't say "I didn't ask for it"...but that is a long story.  However, when it came to me I battled in my brain whether or not to do it...and to be honest my acceptance of it probably played a huge role in motivating me to get ShareBits brought online.  So it is like a beautiful thing but a double-edged sword.

I just want to make bitshares rock...and HOPEFULLY try to make the foundational members who will fight for the original vision of bitshares to become the reality wealthy enough that they can still keep a great deal of control even during the attempt for a hostile takeover.  The saddest day in my mind would be some tech giant with a horrible track record of human rights and privacy violations (ironically the ones that Ethereum now has "helping" them---Microsoft and IBM) coming in and displacing those people simply by buying bitshares, laughing and controlling it.

I love brownies (and would love and support them EVEN IF I wasn't asked to distribute them), but you definitely are right that it can be bit of a burden too.  Unlike DKP, giving out Brownies seems to also seems to make enemies  ::).  One thing I can say is that running guilds didn't prepare me for everything in crypto--I would have certainly scratched my head if people would have attended raids and then complained about me giving DKP to everyone in attendance :P

IBM AND Microsoft come to bitshares and buy all the BTS .....wow ..... that's absurd .

they could just issue their own token , own 10000000000 times more network effect than BTS .... with developers more capable than every crypto project in the world ...why would they buy BTS ? any reason at all ?

Because is cheap, but I would buy Cryptonomex instead.

Another benefit - private blockchains allow multiple entities to share database in read/write mode http://www.multichain.com/blog/2015/10/private-blockchains-shared-databases/

Quote
Financial institutions are heavy users of today’s database platforms, and those platforms do not enable a shared write scenario. This is what banks are looking for.

Exactly, shared databases are the very basic use cases for private blockchains.

This should be in random.

Simple, blockchain labs want to experiment and create their own models, you will want to use Ethereum for that as it is very flexible. Later on you can use an specialised chain if needed for performance, security etc, (Graphene).

At the core of Bitshares there is a FOREX of Smartcoins, and that is a payment service, in its own right. So somebody can do payments easily (if the peg was 1:1, and volume) of EUR to CNY at a fraction of a cost of what is now, without the risks that entitles the volatility of Bitcoin. So Businesses who trade globally can save millions. If Gateways of FIAT like Yunbi and CCDEK could take advantage of this by working together, who is their competitor? Transferwise.

So I agree the core of Bitshares is the exchange, but as mentioned before we cannot say we are not in the payment service business, we are its infrastructure. If not IDentabit will be then ;)

Cap paper is good talking about the current state. Interesting to see they have selected the technologies I also recommend, including Bitshares.  Funny they mention things like Bonds and recurrent payments, I thought they were more active on the community but they are not.

I agree and disagree, business to start using Bitshares will want small fees to attract users to their business.

Not if the business provides a service worth paying the fees for. And businesses will only know if the fees they charge are too high after costumer input. However if they provide a service everyone is astonished and pleased with, people won't bother with fees. It's just a matter of how the business structures itself. It depends on the business' plan and the path it takes. They too have to adapt and be flexible.

When you want to write a program in a certain language or use a certain OS, you adapt or use a different one. However if it's the best one for your objectives, you will still use it even if it's difficult because it will be worth it.

Yes, once you identify the use cases, then you can compare yourself with your competitors / or partners and advertise what differentiates you from them, and / or complement them, and based on that consider the right price.

So far if we are only a decentralised exchange, then our partners are existing  exchanges which want to be part of the decentralised service but at the same time use it to build a bigger user base for their services. As we have discussed before a fast way of arbitrage between exchanges, or lending which will bring volume for all the parties.

In this scenario we want to base our pricing in the same way as other exchanges do, for both trading and transfers.  The added bonus is that the transfers in exchanges are cheap, and can also be done as a payment system.

Great idea to start targeting bitBTC and the gateway, as it will attract issuing of bitBTC and the ease of borrowing, as you aggregate more exchanges this will be attractive for them as people will borrow to play on the spread between exchanges on BTC, but also as a way to also trade on those exchanges.

An additional benefit is the fast transfers within the DEX, if balances from an account can be reflected on exchanges, there are possibilities to quickly react to changes on any markets on other exchanges.

Why not create an UIA which can be use as a fund for MM and dividends distribution from the profits of the bot/s.

This is a possible solution. I would prefer if the solution where trustless, but it may be necessary to pursue this course of action in the event that users cannot maintain a bot on their own.

Different levels of participation, I assume many people might be interested to participate and can trust known members to distribute and run the bots.
If we limit this to accounts that run on the dex, they can be easily audited by contributors. to ensure a fair ROI. Now if UIA had been already implemented the dividends distribution, bob is your uncle, as it will be 75% decentralised.

Move a step further and you can have different specialised bots, with different parameters, running on the DEX. Similar to eToro follower, but bot trading follower.
