General Discussion / Re: Binance Dexathon - Discussion
« on: March 24, 2018, 04:32:23 pm »
Good discussion!
Keep it going

I agree with whats been said here. Big question is, does binance want a 'decenzralized exchange' or an 'autonomous execution of trades'.

Why don't we actually ask them?

Someone with enough diplomatic/technical skills could contact them and ask for additional information about their requirements and where do they aim.

They could agree to use the public bitshares chain if they'd have a spot or two as the comittee members and/or witnesses so that they have some control over the development and general direction.

I'm not saying it's good for us to have a company in the comittee, but the benefits could outweight the cons.

Right now it looks like a very bad idea to me, but it's worth discussing anyway.

There are already companies (directly or indirectly) in the committee. How is it different this time?

The difference is the familiarity with the community and the ecosystem. The fact that they were voted in, not forcibly pushed.

Anyway we might not have a choice. Binance will find some blockchain to migrate to. Then other exchanges will follow.
Every exchange will remain a separate business from us. And we will lose our edge.
At least if we apply and win we can benefit from new features they may develop.
If we don't we get nothing and only lose.

The other issue is that we are so confident we'll win, no one considers the bad publicity if we apply and lose.

Hello everyone,

Bits of gold is the most popular Israeli fiat on/off ramp company for bitcoin and ethereum. They are conducting a survey right now on which coin to add next to their services.

More details can be found here:
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@ravid/support-bitshares-on-israeli-version-of-coinbase

I think it's quite important and will get us a big deal of exposure if we succeed to vote Bitshares in.

Go to https://www.bitsofgold.co.il
And vote for it (you must enter "Bitshares" manually after choosing "other")

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Legal Council about BTS and No-action

How can a SEC saying "BTS is not a security and we won't screw them up" have a negative impact?

Technical Support / Re: All public nodes down / extremely slow?

Need to check available funds
But the idea is to deploy more of them as we grow as long as the worker pays for them

Would be great if you could do that!

Can a node in the Middle East be deployed as part of the infrastructure worker? I am always connected to the "closest available", which turns out to be a German node with 2000 ms latency andconstant " out of sync" message

Technical Support / Paying a tx fee in units of a UIA
« on: February 04, 2018, 03:04:28 pm »
Hi everyone, I have a question:
If I create a UIA, what do I need to do to be able to pay the transaction fees in units of this UIA?
For example:
I create a Ravid.Shitcoin
Someone buys it from me in a ICO and receives it in his wallet.
It is the only asset in his wallet.
He wants to create a sell order or transfer it to someone else, but he does not have any bts to pay the fee. How do I allow him to pay the fee with Ravid.Shitcoin?

Technical Support / Re: Creating a DAO with Bitshares

Yeah, sorry, "if the community likes it" is a very important part I missed there. It will have to be approved by the stakeholders of course

That's correct, there would be a GUI, and anyway some components on a centralized server. Votes can also be integrated on a centralized server, I was just wondering if it was already available in bitshares.
So yes, it sounds indeed feasible to register the votes of token holders directly on my side, but that would be ugly and centralized :(

Thanks to you Ravid and xeroc for your support.

Well, you said that people will vote on stuff related to your company. I am pretty sure the stuff to be voted on will not be shown in the Bitshares wallet as it has nothing to do with its network. So you'll need a centralized voting hub anyway and it will do the weighting and calculations.

On the other hand, if you are an established company with a budget, you could hire a developer that could implement the voting with your company token on Bitshares. Some kind of flag would have to be added to the workers/improvement proposals/your stuff so that Bitshares-related proposals wouldn't show at your hub and yours on ours.

Bitshares devs are pretty busy as they are, so you'll need to hire your own and get him working with our guys

Correct me if I'm wrong but I assume your DAO will have some kind of website or GUI or other framework outside of bitshares wallet. Why can't you just pull the data of a specific account from the blockchain about their holdings of your token and calculate the weight of their vote in the said framework?

Guys, he just announced that they are going to do something nice for the ecosystem (or at least try) and they don't even ask for money. Why so much skepticism? It's not like they are scamming money out of the platform - let them do their thing

Have a look at their white paper.... they will ask for money. Otherwise, why would they create their token??? the token is actually already created!
As long as I don't see real faces, with real names, on a project... I won't consider it as a real project.

@Project owner: please provide your real name, linkedIn profile, project partners...

Maybe they will, but they still haven't.
I'm sure when the token sale will start they'll provide all necessary information. Why all the animosity right now?

The idea itself is not bad at all.

If OL's tether withdrawals are down you could buy BTS, transfer it to Binance (or others) and withdraw your tethers from there.

As a side note I would recommend you to never ever touch tethers in your life
