Technical Support / Creating a fiat gateway
« on: December 19, 2017, 03:56:16 pm »
Hey guys,
I want to create a fiat gateway to the Bithsares DEX and I have a few technical questions:
1) In order to facilitate the entry I am going to create a UIA that will be backed by fiat in dedicated bank account (kinda like Tether, but honest and really backed). Can this UIA be pegged to the real currency price? (I don't want it to be a smart asset because I don't want users to create it by collaterising BTS - the amount in circulation have to be less or equal to the amount in the bank)
2) How does this UIA gets added to the exchange? I want it to have its own tab, like BitBTC, BTS etc.
3) How does the trading starts? I create the UIA, someone deposits money in my bank account, I send them their coins and then what? Why would other people want to sell their assets for a coin that was just created?

Thanks!

I think this might be the single biggest contribution to the platform since the invention of the platform itself. Thank you so much

plan to create bitXCD with below setting, as same as bitUSD:

MAXIMUM SUPPLY 100,000,000,000
Precision 4
Feed lifetime   24h
Minimum feeds   7
Force settlement delay   24h
Force settlement offset   1%
Max force settle vol   0.5%
Short backing asset   BTS

This is just awesome! Real world use - finally we are breaking through!
I'm just curious how in the world do you meet such people so casually?

Interesting. Would you recommend just purchasing some bitcoin through a reputable, commonly used centralize exchange like Kraken? That's what I'm thinking: use something like that for fiat and BitShares for coin trading.
Thanks for the reply!

Careful with kraken either, I see people complaining about them a lot on twitter.
I won't recommend any platform because I don't know, just be sure to do an extensive research before putting your money anywhere

Great work and contribution in BitShares. Keep it that way!
Little tips from OpenLedger team are on the way.
Thanks, received!

Do I understand correctly that there will be a list of "jobs" published with a set bounty and anyone would be able to commit to a job they choose with a payment for the end result?

Oh my god, I just discovered I can create a worker from the regular wallet  ::)

How do I realize the following salary model there: larger first payment and smaller following payments each month?

Anyone can provide suggestions for improvement and preferably post them here so everyone could see and decide on their relevance.
If the worker thing works out, I'll add the approved ideas to the article (the material that gets into the article needs to be formulated in a specific way in order to be approved by the wiki mods and not put the whole article or chunks of it up for deletion, right now I think I became pretty good at it). If it does not then yeah, anyone can do whatever :)

Posted the announcement on steem, it haven't quite picked up yet.
Don't know much about beyond bitcoin and whaleshares.

Hello everyone,

wikipedia page for bitshares is now live and can be found at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitShares

A little over a month ago I volunteered to get us to wiki and now finally managed to succeed. However, it took me much more time and effort than I initially was ready to put in.
So if you like how it looks and want me to continue working on it I would like to propose a worker (but I need help with creating it as I couldn't figure out how to do it myself).

Why do we need a wikipedia page
Three reasons:
1) wikipedia is the fifth most visited website on the Internet, being there could provide us with some increased exposure and maybe could help with the marketing.
 2) It provides credibility. There are a lot of people whose opinion about a product/company is greatly influenced by the wiki. One example are my father and brother, who were not convinced by anything until I showed them the article yesterday and now they are ready to invest.
3) This community has already expressed it's interest in such a page a few times on this forum.
Anyone could do it
Anyone could, but noone did, for more than three years now. Although it is a free encyclopedia and everyone can create an account and attempt to publish whatever they want, getting approved by their admins is a lot of work, too much for it to be a hobby.

Work done
-Collecting materials, writing, editing to comply with their encyclopedic standards (TM)
-A lot of arguing with the admins - they are not too familiar with the crypto world, so the "subject notability" was an issue and it also  took me almost a week to explain that bitshares is not exactly a company, but a software
- As a bonus, I managed to convince the admins that several existing pages for other crypto projects (waves, digibyte, peercoin etc.) didn't meet the standards they tried to enforce on me, so the pages got tagged and may even be deleted in the future.

Planned work
-Page maintenance: protection from vandals, defence against admins in case if any issues arise in the future.
-Adding a translation to Russian and maybe Hebrew if deemed relevant.
-I am sure the community will have some suggestions for improvements and additional materials - I will review all of them and edit them in if they are relevant.

Moreover, I think that if this worker gets approved it will show others that there are additional ways to help the platform besides being a programmer and working with the devs.

If you think that there is no need for such a worker, I'll leave it as it is and won't bother you with that matter anymore.

Edit: as requested by xeroc my account name is egor-ravid

Hey guys,

As time goes by, theoretically speaking, polo and binance could get a hold of 51% of all the available bts. Could they in this theoretical scenario collude and create a worker proposal that pays them all the reserve funds for nothing and auto-vote it in, stealing all the money that's in there?

@BitcoinJesus2.O I won't quote your post, it's too long :)
What was the downside of Dan's margin trading proposition? Why did people outvote him?

As you put it, it sounds really damn easy to make it happen. And @yvv will be so happy!

Can someone explain why do we need the witnesses to be cosigners of the btc wallet? Can't it be just coded into the core that if  the withdrawal request is made and the wallet holds requested amount of btc then approve the transaction? Then the blockchain itself (the trusty robots, as Stan calls it) is in control and the changes in witnesses are irrelevant.
