Technical Support / Re: Bitshares JS market trade history
« on: December 23, 2018, 07:46:00 am »
Ok I just found why I had an empty array, it seems that params order is dateEnd then dateStart like you did.
But the documentation of bitsharesjs-ws is :
https://github.com/bitshares/bitsharesjs-ws

Quote
get_trade_history   [string base, string quote, date start, date stop, int limit]

Thanks

Keep in mind that repo and documentation is few months out-of-date :)))

BitSharestalk.io is a great looking website, but it seems pretty inactive. The most recent post that I had found is from about a month ago.

This forum, however, is still pretty active. Is there any use in posting on there in hopes that people see it?

Is there a way or process to determine which one we should go to for information?

bitsharestalk.io is still on-going development and is not ready for full use (to have same members, posts, etc). It still lacks on banning and few other moderating options that are a must for Forums. Fuzzy is holder of the repo and feel free to reach out to him if you're willing to help transition or work in any way you are capable of. Until then bitsharestalk.org are currently listed on bitshares.org - so my personal opinion would be: it's default forums atm.

General Discussion / Re: another way to development the economic
« on: December 23, 2018, 03:19:58 am »
wow, do you guys know why steem dollar is like that now? I thought its always backed by steem inflation?
Not always. Total value of steem dollars is capped at 10% of total STEEM market value, to prevent the system from being overtaken by steem dollar holders. That said, peg is less important in this case. Politics.

I'll agree with Abit and Thom here and add following:

- Supporting payments/fees in BTS is actually one and unique thing about this ecosystem. Changing it just brings us closer to EOS and Steem isues with SBD, RAM and CPU and other dodgy algorythms. Currently it shows how Consensus workers/witnesses are greatest supporters of the Blockchain, regardless of its price and conditions.
- BitUSD is in Global Settlement and it has to be revived. Instead of looking for quick alternatives just to get back on real price of income/fees is changing entire concept of how blockchain works and demanding more development before it happens - sounds really like just another Steem Dollar variant.
- BitUSD has to be introduced to the world, legalized and Witnesses needs to do better and more aligned job about pricefeeds in the future. (it lacks on listings for long time, presentation and proper introduction - we dont need a new one)
- Stake-holders and debt owners needs to learn to keep 30% 30% 30% in debt/trading/back, not just throwing all-in like this is a poker game.

Hope my reply was reasonable enough and hopefully you will put your minds more in current situations that needs to SOLVED and not REPLACED with another potential problem.

My bad on homework done and btw - Very nice :) Point was: most 3rd parties are earning while blockchain doesn't. Fees are currently super low.

General Discussion / Re: Low-Feeding Witnesses **ck yo*
« on: December 21, 2018, 03:12:24 pm »
I do understand your feelings, but it's not just CNY. Look at entire DEX. BTC is 33% higher, EOS, anything. BitUSD is under Global Settlement and it makes all much harder than just CNY feed. Eventually it's up to the stakeholders which witness will remain active or not, this way of expressing your emotions will not actually do anything good.

Keep threads, behavior and expressions at least decent if not professional, this is not a junk board - to prevent lock of the topic.

I will support the GUI worker when I saw a professional team.
I mean we can get a really usable product from the worker's job.
the team need to be responsible for the whole development process include management/design/implement/test.

now all I can see is several unusable "stable" release and seems nobody can tell me which one is the really stable/usable version.

We are in the middle of the design and development process. You can see the current stage on the roadmap - http://bitshares.rossul.com/

I can walk you through what's been designed so far, and answer any question if you like.

Hoping to see this in January

DESIGN
Mobile Wireframes
These are the most effective way to visualize the data structure and represent UI features. It enables effective communication between team members and, more importantly, allows for early testing of workflows, navigation, and overall layouts.

DESIGN
User Testing
Implement proof-of-concept and plugins integration functions

DEVELOPMENT
Estimating workload
Architecture and planning stages of development. The study of the internal features of the code base, the search for solutions for the implementation of more optimized and qualitative product.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Social media marketing proposal
« on: December 21, 2018, 03:07:36 am »
Greetings community,

I am Dinko Petrov, department manager in sales with experience in Austrian, German and Bulgarian corporations. I love and use daily our BitShares DEX, I believe strong that we deserve and will be on top some day, we just miss the Human volume and fresh users attraction. I am not a tech savvy but I know the sales and marketing business very good.  Since everybody here knows where our weakest point is, I am here to offer solution and not complain about missing such. It really hurts me to see where we are now and waste the potential of this software gem we have and nobody knows.

The only way to succeed as a DEX is with proper social media + googleAds marketing. We are doing absolutely nothing on this point, cheap youtube videos and sleeping facebook page will do nobody good, actually it has the opposite effect of advertisement. Trust me. People think that this project is asleep.

I propose pushing on the following strategy

We will target people that are in crypto-related facebook groups and fans of competitors  with ads on feed and the right column. Audience targeted age range will be 18-44 .

Combination of Facebook Ads, Twitter, Instagram and GoogleAdWords.  Once a person clicks on our Facebook ad, they’ll be entered into our remarketing funnel. This will create a remarketing audience of BitShares. I will then set up a Remarketing List Search Ads (RLSA) which will keep advertising our DEX to people that already clicked on our add. Using RLSA helps to outbid our competition without wasting too much budget on targeting cold leads. We will only catch the warm leads and keep them "on the hook".

Now let's crunch some numbers: average costs per click(CPC) may vary deeply, but I will give you an estimate with the up mentioned audience. Average Facebook CPC is $1.07 ,average cost for a Promoted tweet is $1.35 per engagement. Instagram newsfeed avg $1.07, Facebook newsfeed ad $0.50. If we want to market an app installation of our DEX, it costs average $5.50 per installation, I guess we will leave the last feature until we have a good iOS working app.

I propose we start with low-budged Worker spending of 5000 BGN for 6 months, which equals 72701 BTS per month atm, starting January. Weekly reports will be made for the community, so you are sure the money are spent well and in place.

I would like to see the feedback about my idea in this thread from the community before creating official Worker proposal. I will remain at your disposal.

Nice to meet you here. It's valuable idea, but I'm afraid we are running marketing efforts towards BitShares as a blockchain and not as a DEX. I'm sure you are aware that on-going pressure from the Governments is not good for anyone. Especially advertising Exchange on AdWords and Facebook without proper trading license and risking at the same time future of entire ecosystem.

I recommend you to read a bit around forums, checkout new https://bitshares.org website and re-focus your offer to different focus from the DEX, then we can discuss it more.

Hope to see more activity from you here.

P.S. We  have active google analytics since a month ago, and trust me - bitshares dex does not have need for any marketing efforts. 60% of visitors on the website from Organic Search are coming under that term to the website, which is completely wrong. BitShares is dPoS blockchain with NativeDEX as one of the available dApps.

Chee®s,

Miloš.

Which version client are you guys using?
I have tried almost 10 different "stable" versions recently published,
but almost no one can be used in fact
I wonder who are the manage of the GUI development worker, too bad.
Bug reports can go here:
https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui/issues/
no thanks.
I thought we should pay for a professional worker.
I wonder who can tell me which version is really usable.

you can either keep dissing the worker or help make it better, your call

If you don't provide details/bug report it can't be fixed

(fwiw, mine runs with 15 different accounts loaded and appears to work fine)

There are 2 possible reasons for your problem:

a) There was a change recently on the subscription behaviour of bitshares-core. Copying from teh release notes:

"Operators of API nodes that service client software that expect to receive updates about all data on the blockchain by default (such as BitShares Reference Wallet before 180401), as opposed to narrowly subscribed data, should ensure that their API nodes are configured with the enable-subscribe-to-all set to true due to Pull Request 1049."

So maybe you're connecting to an API node with the subscribe-to-all setting set to true

or

b) This issue recently brought up by abit: https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-core/issues/1472

Interestingly, neither of those is a UI issue but core API issues identified and fixed (for (a)...application depends on node operator)  or in the process of being fixed (for (b))

So please don't spread false accusations.
can you tell me which stable version do you use?
when I met a problem, I try to change another version, almost every stable version has different problems after I try less than  several minutes.
I think there are no need to report bug for such unstable software, they need to test themself, it's a job with payment, not a hobit job.

for the issue brought by abit, it's also the GUI's job of course, they used a wrong design, used a wrong api.
when I tell the wallet that my account is alt, it just need to subscribe infomation about alt, I never told it to subscribe other account with the same key.
eventually, it even bring those junk account to my default list of transfer function. such stupid.

Im using keyfile + hosted wallet (wallet.bitshares.org or staging.bitshares.org), but for this specific request I've downloaded latest RC and installed without an issue. Accounts are being properly displayed, but i had to update the node.

Please try selecting some of these nodes if you're based in Asia:

wss://singapore.bitshares.apasia.tech/ws
wss://japan.bitshares.apasia.tech/ws
wss://sg.nodes.bitshares.ws

All 3 above are coming from 2 different Workers on chain and are 90% time up2date and available.

Excellent work so far.

Additional ES nodes (in US or China) would be great for the community. Will definately be voting for the replacement worker

Many thanks! Goal for ES is to make collaboration with people that already own/run ES and wrap it under this worker. My knowledge on Kibana/ES is slim2none, but with the expertise of others, we can mix our efforts to enable more for the clients/ecosystem, and in the meantime cut the costs of same individuals who are currently running ES nodes. In that manner, I would be available for regular management of the nodes (reboot, start, stop, inspect log, manage), while others would be free just to use data visualization and develop it to be better.

Anyway, to create less confusion, will create new thread for this discussion. How I believe, Ryan R. Fox, Alfredo Garcia and yourself are running ES nodes atm, US and EU.

+++

Thank you! We can make together BitShares to be greater than ever with mixed/combined efforts and support, I'm 100% sure.

As much as i honor the good work and i really honor it its seems to me that the new WP is some kind of very expensiv.
I tried to figur out where exectly the money will be going but am unable to identify everything.

Who is the build maintainer who gets $100 per hour and what exectly is his role ?

Why are the expenses increasing by 25% ?

What exectly is Online Dexbot PR or Financial Services Networking ?

I mean for $150k which DEXbot is demanding you can start a massiv advertisement campaign.

The monthly budget of $25k at current situation seems to me way to high.

Sorry but as much as i honor your work i also need to compare the demanded funds being used on other categories.

For me the budget for DEXbot is to high.

Im not part of the DEXBot, but i'm quite familiar with the project and had cleared concerns that you have now just a few days ago.

1) DEXBot is keeping activity of the Blockchain on TOP of the crypto industry
2) User response to the product "DEXBot" is amazing and utilized accross the planet - keep in mind its bringing new people to blockchain as well.
3) Its creating better liquidity of the markets, which we didn't had before.
4) 25k USD a month where 7k is defined for GITHUB Bounties is not 25k USD for the team, but also for community developers unrelated to the project. Remaining 18k for 13 people team - its a bit over 1k average per head, which is not even a decent salary for developers/managers.
5) Keep in mind that DEXBot Support group had one time holiday for 3 weeks, and even then someone was available to support nearly 24/7. You pay for just that kind of support 5-12k USD a month in real world.

I do agree that BitShares needs marketing efforts and there is space for it as well.
I don't agree that DEXBot is not needed or asking to much, and would appreciate if you would reconsider your vote on it. It done amazingly well for very little bit money, compared to amount of delivery they done.
