Thanks! Do you agree xanoxt would be a good addition to the attending team as a Russian community rep? I know he had your support in that role as a committee member. Any other suggestions?

Hello to everyone in the CN community,

As some of you may know, I have created the following worker:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=28557.0

As mentioned in the worker, apart from vote support, I am looking for suggestions for a CN bitshares-based business to attend and present (travel/accommodation paid) as well as CN community reps to attend (travel/accommodation paid) so would love your input.

Best regards,

This conference's academic track could be an interesting place to send an initial paper for my university research project if it ends up being funded. The submission deadline is July 15th, which is very tight -- but probably possible.

If it all works out and BitShares does sponsor the conference, having BitShares-funded academic research presented there as well could look quite good!

Thoughts?

That is awesome! I'll get on it and see if we can get some flexibility on submission dates :) This would also mean I've got one more slot on the attendance list filled for you to attend/present :)

Excellent! I'll start putting something together.

Spoke to the organizers. Deadline is planned to be extended to end of July / mid-August.

They also clarified the following:
"Just to be clear Alex , the academic papers go in front of a team of academics, if they believe the paper is suitable they will have a chance to speak on the academic track also, however all the papers submitted will go to the research team and they will decide which papers will get selected, the papers will also be published in a publication ( yet to be decided )"

This year’s “Decentralized” conference will be held at my hometown of Athens, Greece between the 30th of October and 1st of November 2019. As some of you may remember, I set up a similar worker last year for a plain sponsorship of the conference by BitShares which went really well. Conference last year was attended by me, Ryan R. Fox, Michael Taggart and spokesperson Annemieke Dirkes and we had 2 session talks and a booth that gathered a lot of interest from attendees.

This year we got a very nice offer from the organizers to present the conference as partners (i.e. Decentralized 2019 by University of Nicosia and BitShares). This offer includes:

•   Becoming event partners
•   Decentralized Conference listed and marketed everywhere as POWERED BY UNIC AND BitShares. This includes all their own paid marketing campaigns. Next push starts on July 10th
•   BitShares logo on name badges and lanyards
•   BitShares video as screensaver on all stages between sessions
•   Paid production of a sponsor-dedicated event-video after the event
•   Private BitShares named meeting room at the conference
•   Video presentation/ad to be played during coffee break
•   Partner mention/thank you during opening/closing of conference
•   Double booth in best location in Exhibition Hall
•   1 x Plenary/Keynote speaker
•   4 x Session speakers
•   1 x BitShares organized panel-session (3 panelists + 1 moderator)
•   25 x free conference registrations (normal price for the full conference is in the ~$500 range)
•   50% off for additional registrations/BitShares members
•   50% off for additional booths for BitShares partners (5k instead of 10k)
•   3-night accomodation at the conference hotel for 2 people
•   Full page ad in the conference brochure
•   Inclusion of BitShares branded item/gift in the conference gift bag
•   1-year's membership in the IFF (more details here: https://www.unic.ac.cy/iff/ + https://github.com/clockworkgr/worker-proposals/blob/master/20190313%20-%20IFF%20Presentation.pdf )
•   Ability to pay University of Nicosia courses tuition fees in BTS/bitUSD/bitEUR

Just to ask this once: There will be no organizational effort needed from BitShares end other than attending / speaking / paneling or preparing parts of the marketing material?

Nope. We'll just have to provide speech/attendee details, marketing material/logos etc. I'll handle the bitshares-branded gifts for the gift bag and production of marketing material.

support.
great initiative, as usual. The package seems slightly expensive but the offer is surprisingly extensive, too!

I guess the worker could exclude the travel/accommodation expenses for ALL 25 slots and end up quite cheaper.

However I believe that if you're gonna partner up and present such a huge event , you need to have the team to go with it. Worker covering expenses makes it easier to get a proper team covering all business/community aspects there to network/answer questions/showcase their work, etc.

Quick update:

I am currently in discussions with the University of Nicosia to potentially accept BTS / bitAssets as tuition fee payment for their courses if we partner up join the IFF.

Can you please create again post on what are all the benefits (by points) for these 200,000.00 USD potential worker ? (What does include, because its not just Decentralized event anymore)

Chee®s

Sure! I was planning on doing so anyway.

So here's the situation so far.

We have been offered the following:

  • 1-year's membership in the IFF (more details here: https://www.unic.ac.cy/iff/ + https://github.com/clockworkgr/worker-proposals/blob/master/20190313%20-%20IFF%20Presentation.pdf)
  • Ability to pay University of Nicosia courses tuition fees in BTS/bitUSD/bitEUR

My suggestion is to make a "big" coordinated appearance as a "BitShares and Business" theme as follows.

Plenary speech is BitShares platform content
4 x session speakers are given to 4 BitShares based businesses across industries. My choices are OpenLedger (exchange/gateway), BitSpark (remittance), Everprove (blockchain notary/document archiving) and the 4th spot given to a China based business. I plan to discuss the best choice with Jerry (bitcrab), Jademont and other members of the chinese community.
1 x panel session to be determined. Could be other members of the wider BitShares community, just a panel subject moderated by us with non-BitShares panelists or a combination of both.

Each of the four BitShares businesses will get flights/accomodation paid for 2 people to attend.

The double booth will be branded partly with the four bitshares-based business logos and made available for their own promotion.

The full-page ad will be used in a similar way.

The coffee-break ad will be dedicated to those four businesses.

The above partner package is at 100k EUR + VAT. (113k USD + VAT)

Gift bag item is 2000 pieces x whatever we choose. I say budget ~ 4$ each so 8k USD

Creation of promotional material (advert, video, coffee-break ad etc.) will probably run up to 7k USD

Judging by last year's worker, 2k USD per person for flights/accommodation is a good ball park figure. so 2*24 (I already live there so no need for expenses for me) = 48k USD

The above adds to a total of just under 200k max budget (obviously like last year, everything will be done to get the best deals possible).

The organizers have asked for a 20% down payment of the sponsorship cost (so 22.6k USD) to confirm, ideally prior to their campaign phase launch date of July the 10th.

I suggest a 40k BTS / day worker (roughly 2.5k USD /day at current price) with a length of 18 weeks. This will provide enough funds for the down payment prior to July 10th (assuming it starts getting funded in the next few days) and enough funds for the entire package overall with leeway to account for BTS volatility. All excess funds will be burned back to the chain like last year.

Thanks for your attention.

Forgot to mention that the bitshares-based business guests, me + a few more people  ( e.g. Ryan, Stefan, etc.) probably add up to 15 people. So there's like 10 guest positions (with expenses paid) to fill.

I was thinking of extending those invites to some worker representatives (ie. someone from DEXbot, Milos from bitshares.org/MOVE) or "regional" representatives (e.g. Petr/Xanoxt for the russian community) who can help us provide a much more rounded informational background.

I know that nobody posted here anything for half year, but we did updates in ecosystem groups and maintained GitHub very well while worker was in/active.

Now, with my sincere apologies to entire ecosystem and its holders, a brief summary and reasoning behind the delays.

AP Asia Tech and Trusty Team has been contracted by the blockchain through worker that was escrowed with BBF in order to deliver simple (more user-friendly) trading desktop/mobile version of BitShares UI, named Community UI (as current reference Wallet/UI hosts all the functionalities of the blockchain).

To remind everyone on specific/important details of the worker/project:

- Original project was 300,000.00 USD for 6 months + Escrow to deliver written from scratch Trading Community UI web/mobile dapp in Vue.js framework, influenced by well UI/UX organized apps from CEXes (Bitfinex, Huobi, Binance). Due to amount asking for it, it was decided to be split in Part 1 and Part 2 each asking for 150,000.00 USD.
- VueX library from Trusty was forked and given as property to Official BitShares Github - more details https://github.com/bitshares/vuex-bitshares?organization=bitshares&organization=bitshares
- BitShares Community UI repository was created and work started as can be seen https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-community-ui
- Online demo/deployment of work done over the period of 4 months (3 months + bug fixes pro bono) is available at

http://testing.community-ui.bitshares.org/ (testing repo deployment - newer Vue)
http://staging.community-ui.bitshares.org/ (staging/default repo deployment - older Vue)

AP Asia Tech did overview of project for entire 4 months, did payouts as per Team reporting and supported revival from GS of BitUSD by doing instant settlement with all payouts received.

Worker started in period of a really low price for BTS and ended up having more staked than it ever needed.

Overview of accounting for the worker, as it can be seen on BBF Workers website:

- Total asked: 155,000.00 USD
- Total paid: 135,888.40 USD ( - 10,000.00 USD Escrow )

However, worker saved through price shifting and GS = 1,647,995.28533 BTS ~ 100,000.00 USD at current price of BTS.

Issues of the past:

- Original team was practically dissolved in last 30 days of worker. One of lead JS devs got seriously ill and was unable to perform any hour, having sudden replacement and help of
Keegan Francis (thanks for hours jumped in). Noemi QA tester and internal team manager got off for private/family reasons and as any other organization, few others start taking their ways. Adding internal competition in decentralization between new devs and old devs within Trusty was already hard enough for both me or their manager Armen to keep up with.

Team was not ready/complete to dive in to the Part 2 without proper diligence and re-estimate, and we were still sitting in GS - price of a BTS was degraded to that point that it would be not reasonable asking for a worker in that period.

New Status:

I've had personal visits in Thailand in the meantime from old Trusty developer Anton, few calls with Armen, and after detailed estimate - new/old team is ready to perform and deliver final Part 2 of Community UI.

Howerever, team is asking for new basic terms for Part 2 worker:

- Instead of 155,000.00 USD, team would be asking for just 115,000.00 USD + Escrow.
- Permission of BTS Holders that escrow transfers remaining balance of BTS from Part 1 to Part 2 and worker actually asks for a difference needed from chain (prevent double spent fees for vesting, trading, transfers, burnback).
- 2 months + bug fixes to deliver promised work.

Final steps would be Trading Graph, Fix with multi-account wallets, Gateways/market selection, white template and UI/UX improvements on fonts/responsive.

There is no worker drafted for any official publication, all I'm here is asking BTS holders and proxies are they are interested to see this job done.

P.S. I'm known for many things, especially being late and lack on reporting, but never failed to deliver a single task, and this project was demanding more than just developers delivery, but management through completely decentralized team, organization, reporting, overview, internal issues, drawbacks, bugs, market/price issues, and couldn't be delivered (P2) earlier even for discussion no matter what.

+5%

We really need to complete this otherwise it would be a waste of part 1 funds.

The Vue-based setup would make it easier for new devs to join in/modify for other purposes as well.

Seeing as there are leftover funds from the original worker and part 2 will require much less funding, I hope all proxies lend their support to this.

approved...

If market fee sharing picks up we might need to revisit the LTM membership costs

Hello,

Since the organizers follow this thread in order to help with any questions and comments (personally, the fact they do this without any prompting speaks volumes imho), they have asked me to share the following.

"If BitShares goes for the event partner package, we can announce BitShares as a founding member of the IFF, this membership will last for one year. What that means is that in all of our brochures and presentations, BitShares will be highly visible. Our current IFF  members include Ripple, PumaPay, R3 Corda,  Hyperledger, Trade.io , University of Cambridge , UCL. We can also provide hotel accommodation for up two people for 3 nights. The Canadian Government have confirmed their Platinum sponsorship, they will be inviting all Canadian Business's in the Balkans to the event and also to the Canadian people living in Greece and to all Canadian Business's in Greece."

I am also attaching their IFF (Institute For the Future) presentation here:

https://github.com/clockworkgr/worker-proposals/blob/master/20190313%20-%20IFF%20Presentation.pdf

along with the relevant website: https://www.unic.ac.cy/iff

89
With 200k € we can finance 8 decent independent marketing worker for 25k €, which brings real value/integration to Bitshares.

They wanna be decentralized but don't offer any crypto payments, what a joke! No serious margin trader will vote for 200k €.

I gonna support this worker until 25k€!

They do actually. Last year's sponsorship fee was paid in btc

90
Oof, been so busy, I only got a chance to go through this thread now.

Overall, I support our presence in WCC as I believe this kind of exposure will be great for BitShares, especially if combined with a marketing push....which thankfully I see people slowly getting into, see Stefan's worker (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=27747.0), thul3's proposal (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=28444.0)  and Bench's proposal (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=28495.0).

We definately need more workers like this (or even a larger one if anyone's up for it).

As far as the NABC at the same time is concerned, the base costs are really good. I don't see a marketing/promotion budget for it however. If we want people to come/register/participate in the hackathon, a promotion budget will be needed.

Also, there is mention of a possible profit from this event. What will be done with it?

I'd like to see a "promoted" poll/questionnaire we can all share via steem/twitter/etc. to better judge interest and evaluate the potential of an NABC.
