Buy a hetzner server for a year

or some of those $39.50 Xeon e3-1230's for $39.50 on oneprovider.net

$39.50/mo for a e3-1230? Care to post some links? I couldn't find any.

Some info/tips about Google Compute Engine (feel free to add it to the first post):

  • To get the most out of the free $1000 credit, choose 'n1-highcpu-2' (High CPU with 2 vCPUs and 1.8 GB RAM)
  • Since the total maximum allowed vCPUs is 24, create 12 instances and launch your favorite miner using 2 threads with 512 MB/thread
  • This will let you run these instances for a total of 636 hours (26 days)

This is based on letting one of each High CPU instance run for about one hour on ypool using the latest jhProtominer (h version, linux64-corei7sse4-512M):

2 cores ($0.131/hr): 38 c/m
4 cores ($0.261/hr): 67 c/m
8 cores ($0.522/hr): 105 c/m

(PS: One hour won't give the exact c/m, but it's pretty obvious that 2 cores is the best alternative)

Open Notepad or similar and type down every combination of your password that you can think of. Now copy/paste each password until you find the right one.

Best of luck!

PS! Don't save the text file anywhere.

Hey, I'm just curious. How long did it take to get accepted after submitting part 2 of the application?

Edit: The answer is 50 minutes. :D

Edit2: After some quick testing on ypool using the latest miner (h version, linux64-corei7sse4-512M), it appears that running the smallest High CPU instance gives the best c/m based on price.

2 cores ($0.131/hr): 38 c/m
4 cores ($0.261/hr): 67 c/m
8 cores ($0.522/hr): 105 c/m

So, running the 8 cores instance is a waste of money.

that HPcloud.com offer is only three months now, instead of four

there's a $75 free coupon for storm cloud servers (liquid web) @

link taken from webhostingtalk

Cool, thanks!

Btw, the HP offer was always 3mo (90 days).

My first payout shows as "successfully processed" in ypool but I have not received anything in my wallet, how long do I need to wait ? it's been 12 hours, and my wallet is sync'd with the network
username: INSeed

Have you tried to restart your client within these 12 hours? At times the wallet seems fine, but requires a restart for it to properly synch.

I confirm that I am neither owner of ypool nor have affiliation with it except I developed the miner.

Yes, starting from M7g line, miner mines first 120 seconds for developers of the miner, this decision has been made after discussion of people in the ypool chat.

This behavior is clearly indincated and not hidden, unlike of some other miners typically called as silent miners.

yvg1900

I completely understand, and I fully support your decision.

2 minutes is nothing. I might even restart a few of my miners regularly to further support you guys. ;)

AFAIK no... yvg1900 developed the optimized miner but he is not the pool owner.

Edit: I guess the pool owner created the miner and yvg1900 optimized it. Thus yvg1900 is getting 120 or so seconds of mining once the miner is launched.

But isn't the pool owner the dev?

I sure hope it's not actually doing that, since this pool is already charging a hefty 6% fee to support the dev.

Edit: Btw, are you noticing any difference in performance compared to the ff version?

So "warmup" in jhprotominer means it's crunching for the devs?

I don't think so. Seems to me that 'warmup' simply means the miner just started and that the c/m will fluctuate until it has been running for a while.

I've gotten accepted shares that showed up on my stats page while in 'warmup' mode.

Did you cd into the directory?

If not, clone ptsminer again.

Edit: Sorry, didn't read the posts before your last one.

43
Do you mind posting detailed specs about the CPU (see code below)? How many col/m are you getting? Are you using the Pro or Extreme plan?

Code: [Select]
cat /proc/cpuinfo
You should mention that this is a referral btw.

Is it working correctly?

Yes. Whenever you see 1 c/m or higher and eventually shares being submitted, it's working.

How do I update the github?

I try to run the command "git clone https://github.com/thbaumbach/ptsminer" and it returns that it already exists. I think I need to modify it to update as opposed to just simply creating the directory.

I don't know if updating is possible, so here's what I just did on one of my instances:

WARNING! I'm a newbie. :)

Code: [Select]
cd
rm -rf ~/ptsminer

git clone https://github.com/thbaumbach/ptsminer
cd ~/ptsminer/src
make -f makefile.unix
