Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Accelerated Vesting of old BTS?
« on: June 29, 2015, 08:18:01 pm »
This would simplify the migration but I don't think anyone can decide to change this rule unless we have a real stake-weighted poll on it like the kind Agent86 is talking about here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,17204.msg219823.html#msg219823

This paper has been deprecated and will disappear along with v1.bitshares.org at some point, not sure if you want to keep tracking it.

In order to get greater shareholder engagement, I think we need to find a way to communicate these issues directly through the wallet.  How many people will not vote, because they will never read about these delegates.  Mobile wallets with notifications of decisions needing votes would be useful as well.  I am sure there are many supporters that do not keep a wallet synced at all times.

Stay tuned.. delegate.dposhub-org is coming out soon with a solution to this. We have been working on it for some time now, and will have a closed beta release soon.

I think this is a great initiative -- I agree stake-weighted polling is a critical tool for enabling the stakeholders to collectively make decisions about our community.

Those who are able, please post translated versions of this post in the relevant language subforums.

I encourage everyone to vote!  :)

Meta / Re: Forum Censorship
« on: June 25, 2015, 06:15:22 pm »
Thanks Mr. V, I was hoping that was the case, but I couldn't find it with search, so it appeared to be cut out.

I pulled BM's blog from github, but it of course had none of the forum comments and discussion.

I think it's important to post the link of where you moved it in the forum. Can you explain why it couldn't be found with the forum search? I couldn't find it this past Sat - Mon when I looked for it.

I didn't think it would be a big deal since the blog is basically dead at this point. Just did a quick search and here is a few I found:

I recently consolidated many of the dead/very small subforums into some of the bigger subs to try to fight some of the fragmentation. Didn't delete any threads--just moved them.

Meta / Re: A Centralized Place to Discuss 2.0 "Policies & Procedures"
« on: June 24, 2015, 11:13:15 pm »
However, those 2 things together will be a vast improvement over what we have now, IMO.

I think it's time for you to step up and moderate a sticky / sub @Thom

@vikram I'd suggest to give him control over a sub if you decide to add a new one

@Thom I've added you as mod to the BitShares 2.0 subforum. Feel free to make your sticky and whatever else you need. Hopefully this should improve things until we come up with a more complete plan on how to get organized. Let me know if you need anything else.

This was asked a lot of times in the past. An Annoucements section where only mods can create threads so we have every important info we need in one place. No need to hunt for info. That is needed but so far, nothing was done about it. It's just a sticky here, a sticky there and after a while it turns into a mess

Exactly. One problem of the past was there were no mods that performed tasks like this. I have been very vocal in support of fav, who is taking the role of forum moderator seriously and doing a good job IMO.

I see this forum as an extremely important tool for the BitShares ecosystem, and it needs to be given more attention than it has been given in the past.

I came on board about the time bitsaphire started to manage the forum, and they had big plans that seemed to evaporate into thin air. I'm sure their maintenance did provide some value, but not enough in my view, especially in the manor that fav is doing now.

I agree we need more organization -- and I think we need to be smart with structuring the forum in such a way that we can maximize the collective intelligence and effectiveness of the stakeholders.

Currently, policies and procedures are discussed at least in these places:
  • General Discussion
  • BitShares 2.0
  • Stakeholder Proposals
  • Questions & Concerns

I don't have an answer on what we should do, but I am thinking about it and I think it will involve more than just adding another sub/sticky.

Technical Support / Re: Voting procedures
« on: June 23, 2015, 04:33:40 pm »

The hierarchy would be General Discussion--> BitShares 2.0--> Procedures & Policies <various topics>

Make sense?

I think you should open a meta thread.

My reason against sticky: there are too many again and it's too easy to miss news. this thread is important, and users should see activity (by jumping on top).
Another Sub: do we really need another childboard for one thread?

I'm not the best person to answer the questions on voting but I agree we already have too many subforums. Most people only go into General Discussion. Important sections like Stakeholder Proposals, Delegates, and Questions & Concerns are somewhat ignored. I've consolidated many of the smaller subs recently but we might want to take it farther.

Also: is it PeerTracks or Peertracks? Please make sure the website is consistent with all other branding.
