Well just do the public shunning thing and move on.

It is bizarre to me he was given 50k.  It is a low margin business, but it also means that there is little saved by buy purchasing wholesale.  You're basically just becoming a gambler with a lot of inventory if you can't rapidly turn it over.  At least the inventory doesn't depreciate I guess.  I wonder what his spiel was.... hustlers and their game are endlessly fascinating to me.

It was actually a fairly long and drawn out process. The business was built over months with a lot of work from a number of people. He actually had the inventory for a while before going dark. I recall asking him now and then how the pile of PM was doing. We spoke daily over Skype.

Fantastic. Anyone have some web analytics on the traffic to OpenLedger?

The internet is fucking creepy.

It can be for sure but what I posted is all information in the public domain; especially Twitter and LinkedIn which she put out there herself. There are a lot of things I found that I didn't, and won't, post because it isn't part of a public facing image.

I believe Ryan had every intention to run an honest business. However people's lives are complex and we'll likely never know what events lead him to the final decision to go dark. Maybe he got robbed, had gambling debts, sick family with big medical bills, or any of a million other possibilities other than he was just a con from the start.

B2B. Marketing to individuals IMHO is only going to bring in small trickles. Marketing to businesses to run on Bitshares will bring in a tsunami of transactions which is the core sustainable revenue stream for the platform. The businesses that run on and use Bitshares (like OpenLedger, Blocktades, Metaexchange, etc.) need to market their service to their customer base. Marketing Bitshares therefore should focus on business development rather than to the individual - which I think is exactly what's happening in Blacksburg.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Why is that hard to import BTS keys in MUSE wallet?
« on: December 16, 2015, 10:57:55 am »

The MUSE client is a few updates behind the client version of Graphene that BTS is using. There have been a number of bug fixes and enhancements that address the importing of keys and claiming of balances. Once the MUSE client updates things should be better.

As ripplexiaoshan said nothing is lost so long as you keep your keys safe. The project is still very much in its infancy so it's not surprising that there are still a few teething issues.

I played with this today and it works well. Certainly opens the door for other ideas/uses. Graphene is the best kept secret in crypto.

Looking forward to playing around with this. It is a great use case for the sophisticated key structures offered by Graphene. Awesome work and congrats(?) on your 10 thousandth post!

It does say most influential people not people who have most advanced blockchain tech. It's a popularity contest.

Simulation or not it's all we've got. So it doesn't really matter one way or the other.

As for the various deities man has had foisted on us over our short tenure I believe they all exist in the same sense that mp3s exist on our devices.

Anyway XKCD as usual sums it up best:

They say there is no such thing as bad press. One thing is for sure: Everyone knows about the tip bot now :) . Sure, the implementation can use some polish based on user feedback but that's hardly a reason to pack it all in. Heck, Dan can't even post what his favorite color is without long threads about wasting time, why that's a horrible color choice, and why are we talking about colors?!?!?!

The current reaction is somewhere between the best case scenario of universal love and acceptance and the worst case scenario of no one even knows it exists.

Go kick some ass in cs and come back Monday with a refreshed outlook.

The best way to answer the cost question is to first write a clearly defined spec and ask a developer to price it.

It's hard to code/estimate, "something like".

I really want to like BTER. They have been good to BTS in the past and I met a couple of them in China. I think they are struggling with liquidity and are therefore short staffed and just not able to address....much. They haven't made a BTC-B payout since the end of July and there is no sign of any more coming. I remain hopeful but it's challenging.
