Your proposal will not work if you fork Bitshares. Take a look at how many alt coins have over 1k USD of volume in a 24 hour period compared to how many alternative coins have less than that. It is likely this fork will fall into the "less than that" category. Thus, Bitshares as-is will have more liquid Smartcoins than your fork. Not to mention all the negatives that come along with forking a project/community.

The free market will decide. That's one of the reasons it has the license it does.

Riverhead says it's possible for exchanges to issue an BTS IOU...

It's possible, but not practical. Each exchange would have to buy a massive stake in BTS just to do this; to fund their IOUs which they have to convert from user's bitcoin deposits. This is a huge undertaking for them and a big risk; IMO, they just won't do it.
Cool, thanks. That's good if not's very practical.

The cat is already out of the bag as it were. I don't think BTS can be made non transferable now that it's out in the free market. It could be the seed idea for a BTS fork project though. CoopShares?

It's been working for me the whole time.

Ditto. I haven't had any service interruption.

Can't speak for openledger but DAC Play's wallet is up: https://bitshares.dacplay.org/

Here is another customized version:

Fantastic. I know onceaponatime has some change requests but personally I like it the way it is. The blending supports the stealthiness IMHO. Also, it wasn't until my third for forth viewing that I saw the lizard. Nature win.

Excellent prospectus. I wish I could participate but sadly I live in the land of the "free".

Best of luck!!

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: What is the reason for big price rise?
« on: February 15, 2016, 07:08:46 pm »
Someone mentioned a faucet server in another topic that was down/rebooted, would that have any effect on price if people can not trade? Someone else taking advantage of this to make the market price higher?
Let's say you wanted to buy 200k muse. Not a large amount but more than can be bought at Yunbi without walking the order book. Since volumes are so low such a purchase really moves the market.

I noticed a huge increase in prices. Does anyone know why? Judging from the news should be reversed.

The volume of MUSE transactions on Yunbi and elsewhere is very low. It doesn't take many buys on Yunbi to really push the price up. Unfortunately the reverse is also true.

Alpha 12 of the BitShares mobile wallet is ready for download. The only major thing we have left for v1.0 beta 1 is to just finish up the 22 language translations. I should have that done this week then we can finally get this wallet out to the world and get it published in the apple and android app stores! 8)

Don't know if FreeMyVunk methodology for discouraging scammers will work with MUSE.

"...There are many people who will try to game the system including professional click-farms which can erode what we are trying to achieve.
...we are asking YOU, the community, to hunt them down for us. As a reward, we will offer large VNK bounties..."

So they have nothing in defense. Ouch.

General Discussion / MKRCOIN Buyback & Exchange
« on: February 13, 2016, 11:32:18 pm »

MAKER will be releasing soon on Ethereum. Ahead of the release we'd like to purchase as much of the sharedrop back as we can either outright for BTS or in exchange for an Ethereum address in a memo (held as a IUO from Riverhead). Eventually there will be a Metaexchange gateway to exchange MKRCOIN for MAKER but it is unknown when that will actually happen as we're still in the early stages of release.

According to cryptofresh.com there are about 1290.75 MRCOINs currently not under control of a member of the MAKER project (either myself or Toast).

Option 1:
  • I have placed a buy order for 666 BTS/MKRCOIN which currently is ~$3/MKRCOIN. That is the going rate for MKRCOIN pre-sale. The order is up for all 1290.75 outstanding coins.
Option 2:
  • You can send MKRCOIN to me (riverhead #793) with an Ethereum account address in the memo. When the coin goes live on Ethereum we will distribute MAKER 1:1 to the address given.
Option 3:
  • Hold on to your MKRCOIN IOU to trade on the DEX and/or wait for a gateway.
The order on the DEX will stay active until closed with a bot maintained price (thanks to @xeroc 's excellent Exchange API)

So why don't people just buy bitUSD on the DEX if they want BTS to go up but are afraid of losing money (denominated in FIAT)? Then they could easily convert back if it starts to look promising.

dexSHARES

Excitement and valid concerns in the mix!  dexShares seems to be a way to test it out.
Agreed.

I bought some BTS (not on margin) at 1100 sats today, for the first time in like 4 months. :)

Back over 1200 :).
