Just deleted the .BitsharesXTS folder and restart everything. Now the wallet sync to the block 1495. But I still did not receive any fund previously sent by bytemaster and others (thanks anyway), even after rescan the chain. Can someone please sent me again?
Edited: Got the fund. But have another problem. ... (see next post)

Is it a bug? I set a very big constant (for unlock time) when I unlocked the wallet.

I run 2 clients on my 2 linux pc and this morning I found they have different blockchain_head_block_num.

Mine is stuck on block count 751. May be it is the bug mentioned by bytemaster.
This may be also the reason I did not receive the fund yet.

General Discussion / Re: Delegates, start your engines!
« on: June 11, 2014, 06:13:09 pm »
I have been late for registering as initial delegate.

So I tried to register on blockchain as mentioned by ByteMaster. When I tried "wallet_account_register", it said I have insufficient fund to register (as I have zero funding).

Did anyone try register on blockchain before? Or anyway to get sufficient fund to register?

Can anyone understand the source code written by 3I? i do not know anything about computer programming. i am really not sure if they are really working and have made a lot of progress. all i can see is that many other teams are releasing their newest products, but unitl now 3I has nothing. so if you could understand their progress really, can you share some of your confidence with me.

i am really suffering a hard time in my life. i am about 29 years old. And i haven't achieved any success or made a big money. my girlfriend dumped me a month ago, though we had a long relationship and gonna married, (at least i thought so). my bussiness (a very small bussiness and i am the only emplyee of my company) is not in a very good conditon,  i borrowed 1.2 million RMB (about 200,000 US dollars) from the bank for my new house and funiture. I even cannot afford to buy a car, since i have a big debt.

i am the only child of my family, i am too afraid if i cannot do well in everything , my parents will feel really disappointed. i kind of worry their health codition.

3I is the only hope for me.

I guess the majority of the investors for PTS or AGS might be Chinese, i am just a very ordinary one of them. i know i compain a lot like a bitch, and i think i will try not to do this anymore.

i wrote this post because i hope people could know more information about some Chinese investors, someone like me are kind of like gamblers.

Anyway, thank you all for reading these craps and  negative information.

hope everything will be on track soon, and hope i will not need to say this sentence again.

heroes? legends? lairs? illusionists?  the time will find out.

I think your disappointment is because you seems bet on only one investment, Bitshares. And you think you will never success if it fails. As an investor, I also hope Bitshares can succeed. But there is always no 100% guarantee of success in this world.

So far, I can see they have some progress. Though I also don't agree DPOS is so important to fix at this early stage. May be it is hard to change from POW to DPOS if the chain starts. Personally, I think POW (everyone has a chance to compete by whatever means) is fairer than POS or DPOS (richer gets rich, poorer get poor). That is why I don't object POW.

As a Chinese, I fully understand many people measure success mainly on wealth.
Western people seems are more open on different metrics of success.
When I was 29, I also got nothing, not even an apartment like you did.

General Discussion / Re: MaidSafe IPO on Mastercoin
« on: April 25, 2014, 03:44:12 am »
Anyone look at coinmarketcap today?  Not looking good for Mastercoin:

9    BitShares-PTS    $ 7,036,180    $ 4.31    1,631,463 PTS    $ 25,147    -0.79 %
10    Mastercoin    $ 6,651,626    $ 11.81    563,162 MSC*    $ 129,654    -70.69 %

Mastercoin is not just involved in this particular event (so called "stolen coin into maidsafe ipo"). They also involved in the "goxcoin" campaign (right after mtgox bursted) in which they asked mtgox victims to support their plan to convert victims' coins in mtgox to goxcoin running on Mastercoin platform. Of course, it turns out not successful, as people quickly identified their link to Mark Karpeles. As a mtgox victim myself, I don't want to get involved in any of Mastercoin projects.   >:(

Signing pools (delegates) earn a small fraction of the transaction fee from the block. Also, if you have enough stake, you will be proactive about protecting its value.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

I just worry the incentive is not sufficient to maintain sufficient number of nodes for the network.

"if you have enough stake, you will be proactive about protecting its value."
The problem of this statement is how many is "enough". Different people may have different interpretations. Not many of us have a significant stake. Many of us only have a tiny fraction (not enough to move the price if we dump all our shares to any exchange). Do we have the incentive to proactively protect its value and take part in the network?   I don't know.  (At least, I do not run my bitcoin client or miner programs now)

Unless the security of protocol does not depend on the number of nodes taking part in the network, I guess sufficient incentive is crucial to motivate people to take part. I am not a network expert, I don't know. May be I just don't understand.

He's comparing to 2m, like what we gain if we switch to DPOS

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Hi,

So far, I only understand the network advantage of switching from POW to DPOS. (e.g. how environmental friendly, how stable it is....)

But from the miner's (or stake holder's) point of view, I still not quite sure the incentive to take part in this DPOS-based network?  What is the difference being a delegate or not? If I am not a delegate, is there sufficient incentive for me to take part? I think these are important questions to answer. Without understanding the incentives, people will not join.

Can anyone explain that?

Hi Stan,

May be I overlooked. I cannot find the previous newsletters any more on the new site bitshares.org
The newsletter page seems only for subscription purpose (future newsletters, not past).

Do we still have an online archive of all newsletters? It should be useful for people like me who may overlook or miss some newsletters.

Thanks.
