Can someone first clarify the meaning of 'mining' in the context of TaPOS?

It is not something similar to POW that performs hashing computation.

For TaPOS, I don't think it is hashing or anything computational intensive. That is not the purpose of POS. Is this  'mining' just 'leave the wallet process running'?

You just issue IOUs. It's just an asset backed by a promise, just like mastercoin or counterparty. You can have it mean whatever you want.

Suppose I issued an IOU and someone bought it, but I don't fulfill my promise (scam in other words). What happen next (to me and to buyer)? My IOU value drop to zero?

But how a buyer can "buy" my IOU? with XTS? or with BitsharesME shares?

Please educate me. What can be sold via BitShares ME? Services or physical item? What criteria allow the service or item to be traded? I don't quite get it.

Hi Dan

Thanks for the write-up.

But do you mind to tell in more layman term on how to maximize their income from the miner point of view? I believe most miners are not necessarily a programmer. They may not be able to understand the meaning of the algorithm and protocol.

I think, by knowing how to maximize their own interest, we can predict how the people behave aggregately.

BitShares AGS / Re: Why the Spike in AGS donations today?

Just curious, how I3 will deal with the donation of PTS/BTC after 28 Feb ? It is not a small amount.
"Real and pure donation"?    8)

BitShares PTS / Re: PTS wallet not sync
« on: February 26, 2014, 02:02:12 pm »
I experienced the same symptom before. A quick and easy workaround: quit the qt program and restart it again. Then it says there is a X hours of out sync, and tries to sync again. I guess it is a problem bug due to small amount of nodes.

BitShares AGS / Re: [TRADE] Service: Tradable Angelshares (tAGS)
« on: January 13, 2014, 06:26:06 pm »
I think this is fine and a perfect example of market forces at play.  tAGS is a valuable service that comes at the price of 'trust', you are trusting a 3rd party to manage a long-term investment.  If anything happens to him you will loose your keys.

Good work and I hope it meets a market demand.

I think tAGS is a bit "opposite" to the philosophy of decentralized trading of bitshare (where AGS will go eventually).
It is centralized trading mechanism managed by one person.
There is no difference to the existing centralized cryto stock or coin exchanges. btct and bitfunder (or weexchange) are very good experience to those who still believe in centralized exchange.

The trading mechanism is also odd. There is a sudden drop to a very low price and seems no real deal (or only very small amount of deal is made). For example, according to their trading chart, it said there is a trading of PTS/BTC as low as 0.000001 (on 31 Dec, 12:00-15:59, go check yourselves). But even I have a buy order at 0.001, my order was not filled at all. I really don't know how their trading program works. Or it is some kind of tricks.
