General Discussion / Who's going to market bitAssets to Ukraine?
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:30:58 pm »
Ukraine:    - highest inflation in the world
                 - capital controls being put in place

“Yesterday a 62 year old man managed to get back his money from the bank (after 3 month of persistent attempts) and came to buy bitcoins. He does not trust the state nor the bank and is willing to take the risk of bitcoin volatility.”

Our efforts are beginning to atract more newbies.  Many are trying to download the bitshares client and understand how it works. Even those who have been directed to and have read Bitshares101 have some problems. The best solution so far seems to be meetups like the recent one in Argentina where people can be instructed in person how to use bitshares and bitAssets. However, in addition, we need the questions in the Newbie section of this forum to get timely and accurate responses.

I do what I can, as do some others. But I do not have the technical skills to answer many of the questions that are appearing. Help answering these questions in the Newbie section by technically proficient users is of paramount importance. This will help the increased adoption and positive awareness of bitshares. And have a positive effect on our market cap, which will in turn make everything going forward more feasible.

I hope some of you technically gifted people will step up to cover that area of concern. Others of us have been doing large amounts of volunteer work in the areas where we are more capable of service.

Technical Support / Can't cancel bitAsset sell order (SOLVED)
« on: January 28, 2015, 10:13:56 pm »
I had a sell order in bitSILVER which I cancelled. It did disappear from the "Sell BitSILVER Orders" list, but it is still in my Open Sell BitSILVER Orders as an active order, and when I click on "Cancel"  it just says "cancelling" but nothing happens. I have tried restarting the wallet with the same results. The bitSILVER do not show up in my Account Balances, and bitSILVer is still in my Open Sell Orders with the "Cancel" button back, but not in the "Sell BitSILVER Orders" column.

Any advice on how to complete the cancelling of the order and get my bitSILVER balance back would be appreciated.

Thoughts on the collapse of empire and where we are headed:

"Romans were willing to sell themselves into feudal bondage to escape the abuse of late Imperial Rome. Our options are better. With any luck, our imperial government will realize this and restrain itself. Lacking that, we will collectively enter the crypto currency age with a raging monster forcing us through the door."

Quote from: CrowdBucks on December 10, 2014, 09:24:16 PM
I entered my public key here and did not receive any BTS.
I also tried to use the Faucet link and it does not appear to work (3 different browsers on two different systems)
Am I missing something or are there any other suggestions on how to get some initial BTS ?

Sent.

I sent him 0.5BTS to register on Dec. 10:

Why does the BitSILVER market show a "total supply" of 0.00 now since yesterday? There is obviously a positive supply (I own some myself).

The Wrath of Draghi: German Savers Hit with ‘Negative Interest Rates’

"Deutsche Skatbank, a division of VR-Bank Altenburger Land, which was founded in 1859, is not the biggest bank in Germany, but it’s the first bank to confirm what German savers have been dreading for a while: the wrath of Draghi.

Retail and business customers with over €500,000 on deposit as of November 1 will earn a “negative interest rate” of 0.25%. In less euphemistic terms, they have to pay 0.25% per annum to the bank for the privilege of handing the bank their hard-earned money or their business cash."

Here's the dev behind one 2.0 project:

"BTSX was designed with the assumption that all crypto would be banned from formal exchanges.   The need for a trust-free proxy to the dollar / gold / silver was required as well as decentralized price discovery.   Localbitcoins is much more viable with BTSX and BitAssets because you don't have to match bid/ask/location... just location."
