BitShares PTS / Re: PTS Snapshot problem with Cryptsy
« on: September 27, 2014, 07:26:59 am »
I have been emailing the the J-shock at cryptsy, apparent customer service manager.

They tell me that they wont honour coins on their exchange and the post was by an imposter! Very well written and very convincing.

Crypsty hold a decent amount of my BTSX from PTS left on exchange. Oddly enough I submitted the withdrawal 40 mins before snapshot and they were delayed 2 blocks after snapshot.

I dont need a lecture on holding PTS in my local wallet. If anybody is interested I have set a bounty for information on cryptsy PTS addresses. Im prepared to spend some btc to shed some light on the matter.

Theres a few bloggers and media outlets interested in this story. If we can gather all the facts that would be a start.

What I can think of that is needed:
* Cryptsy PTS addresses
* Information related to genesis block of BTSX
* BTSX/ USD worth

What else guys?

Once we figure out everything needed I will start an official bounty thread here and in BTC talk. Those effected should consider throwing in the escrow.

Crypsty look out!

General Discussion / Re: Who let the DOGEs Out?

You will be surprised that many people trade the crypto market full time and some are coming from stock and forex background

I think marketing has much to do with it and the merged mining. The mm is what started the market reversal.  Compare Doge to LTC- A fun friendly crypto full of vibrant people or a whining coin with no face to it. From all the coins Doge stands out as the perfect PR smile and I think smart money is hedging in. Everyone should have a stack even just to tip crypto newbs and make friends, people love it!

General Discussion / New Asio laws passed in Australia
« on: September 26, 2014, 05:06:39 am »
The new Asio (Australian security intelligence organisation) laws have passed overnight. A sad day it is. People in America thought they had it bad. These laws strip Australians to nothing.

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/consumer-security/terror-laws-clear-senate-enabling-entire-australian-web-to-be-monitored-and-whistleblowers-to-be-jailed-20140926-10m8ih.html

Encryption, unique software (keyhotee) and anti surveillance products will continue to experience rapid demand growth. As early adopters of BitsharesX, angelshares, protoshares and crypto in general, I think we are in an appropriate position to capitalise on this madness- Lose your human rights but increase your net worth.

3 options for aussies:

1) Leave your country (Just pack up and leave)
2) Lobby against these laws (Goodluck, they own you)
3) Encrypt everything. (Your now ASIO's most wanted)

Check this out! Top secret and stealth is enough to excite anyone. I'll interpret that as a + for crypto.

General Discussion / Re: Big Bitshares marketing push?
« on: September 19, 2014, 06:49:39 am »
I can assure you all, it's moving forward.  We need to time this correctly with all the work the dev team is doing to fix bugs, iron out bitUSD, and update the GUI (a huge project in itself). Bytemaster asked us to pump the brakes a bit on it as this is going on...  The marketing side is also quite complex on the back end, but is nearing completion.  Please be patient, there's absolutely no reason me or any of us would want to delay it a day longer than necessary....  :)  B

Thank you Brian,

Understanding it is moving forward but can we get a brief outline of the marketing plan ahead, just something basic info? I have read and listened to all the soundcloud clips but cannot piece together a clear path. Investors have abundant resources to sift through regarding code product but not marketing plans.

I would like to know what is planned for this big marketing move. There is little information.

A word from Brian would be great.

General Discussion / BitAssets on coinmarketcap
« on: September 12, 2014, 06:05:58 am »
Dont think its just me but shouldn't we have our BitAssets up on coinmarketcap?

Each asset once created and actively traded should have its own special place on the cap. In future when BitAssets become wide spread we may even need to collectively combine into an index e.g the "Bit10"! (something more catchy of course). Not sure of the technicals but I dont think this is too early.

Should they have their own domains or link to an asset register? Could be a bit of marketing to play with here but what a great way to display bitshares assets.

General Discussion / Targeting local bitcoin users
« on: September 12, 2014, 05:36:51 am »
Local bitcoins is a massive central hub prime to target new adoption. Most of our newbies enter through this portal and usually attaching to their first transactor as a crypto mentor before getting on their feet.

I meet many interesting people and always help them out. Most are coming to invest and transact globally. A general conversation involves bitcoin basics, altcoin markets, scams/P&D, mining, DPOS/POS, 2.0 crypto and exchanges.

Everyone seems to like the thrill of the turbulent altcoin market but everyone is fascinated by the 2.0 sector. After people buy their first bitoin, they are shortly entering the BTSX market.

Once you catch crypto fever these is no cure.

How can we secure a position/ relationship to engage local bitcoins and its users from a broader perspective? Effectively each individual acts as a node in the community. Do you agree this market holds great potential?

All these attack fears everyone has, I just do not see.  It is all just a complete waste of time, and quite the distraction.  How about we spend some time on something that is important?

In my opinion, the most significant risk, is something where the popular thing to do, is to jump off the cliff.

A good example is the popular thing in the Bitcoin community is POW and mining.  There is a clear expert consensus that dPOS is far better, but the popular hurd isn't getting this expert minority message.  So Bitcoin, Ether, and everyone is about to jump off the POW cliff.  It will be nice for Bitshares, as we will lose some significant competitors, but it still hurts to see all of that about to die a miserable death.  And that kind of loss will really hurt this industry, where if someone could get the herd to change directions sooner, we could progress much faster.

And with the complete lack of current governance systems with BTSX,  it is only a matter of time before the BitsharesX community faces a similar issue.  The majority of delegates will want to jump off the cliff, and only a few will be trying to do the right thing and change directions faster,  possibly unsuccessfully or way to slow, leaving us very vulnerable, just as Ether is now very vulnerable to dPOS.

That risk, and a fork in the community (the splitter stellar currency has now killed ripple, or at best cut it in half) is what I most fear for BitsharesX.

What about everyone else?  What do you see as the biggest risk?

I agree,

Cannot see an attempt for some time and my confidence lies with the team to deal with/if it occurs.

A recent concern is the dilution of crypto. We have in my opinion, stagnant projects such as mastercoin, counterparty, maidsafe and this ridiculous "super net". The way that I see it, there are two contenders to take the spotlight and coexist. Bitshares and Ethereum. All the other technologies have done great things but are becoming redundant. For every new place opening up there is a division of resources and community. All the dying coins and stagnant projects are in a declining state for reason. At what point do you move on? NXT may not be failing as such but I cant see a long prosperous future at this stage. Ripple and stellar are classic examples of dilution.

It may not kill us but its getting foggy out there.

Feels good to see those open orders again!

BTC 38 is a great exchange. Large community brings the high volume. Now with the english site many westerners are diving into the BTSX/CNY liquidity. Like a big magnet.

Chinese are very smart investors and have identified BTSX potential. After these marketing campaigns kick in I think we will see higher volume trading from western world.
