It's just a fork of Monero, same final supply but more expensive right now, and less evenly distributed.

Pump & dump

Fork of Monero? Monero is a blatant bytecoin clone, its great innovation was to mine %80 of coins in 4 years instead of 2.

The emission curve is ridiculous, benefiting only early adopters.

Quasar was created to provide a fair mining period free from instamine.

Oh wow, what an opportunity!

It is an honour to speak with these people!

General Discussion / Re: What do you guys think about Darkcoin?
« on: May 24, 2014, 05:37:20 pm »
This is always an interesting debate.

Although darkcoin was not premined, there is clear evidence of an instamine during the beginning. Also the technology that has been the foundation of the coins hype (masternodes) has been inherently flawed. There was talk of implementing cryptonotes "ring signatures" into the project but these coins operate on entirely different algorithms- ring signatures are not merely implemented. I believe satoshi himself would struggle with the task.

The next two coins of interest are Monero and Bytecoin although both possessing very questionable emission curves. Instamining in my opinion is unacceptable.

The community answered with the solution of Quazarcoin. An emission curve that closely mimics bitcoin itself but much smoother (very fair indeed). This coin in my opinion is extremely undervalued. I do not like to talk about other coins in bitshares postings (unless constructive) but as you asked I will share my knowledge. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600658.0

Take into consideration both monero and quasar are both in the early stages before the marketing push. As a serious investor- my money is on quasar hedging 10-2 monero.

Community rivalry is strong in the anon sector and FUD/smear campaigns are in full swing. Do the maths and stick to the facts.

Quasar
Appx 100k coins
Market price 0.0052
=
Appx 520btc cap ($270,400USD)

Monero
Appx 800k coins
Market price 0.006
=
Appx 4800btc ($2,500,00USD)

PS. I am also eyeing off the ridiculously low AGS at the moment. The greatest investments are made where others have turned a blind eye. AGS are blue chips in crypto.

General Discussion / Re: Invictus & Cryptonote

Hello friends,

There is a very interesting new algorithm out that has changed the landscape, enabling true anonymous transactions and data privacy.

I would like the community to investigate the possibility of application within Invictus. There are many ways we can benefit from this technology.

Invictus and Cryptonote share fundamental philosophy, a collaboration could prove worthy.

From the look of it, it seems it would cost a lot of development time to implement. Can you give some use-cases as for why it would be needed? I think you could create privacy just fine without all of these lengths so why do we need this?

Your BTC is not anonymous at all. A detailed blockchain analysis can pinpoint all of your activity and your bitcoin net worth. Analysing exchanges also provides links to the other coin wallets. Mixing services are inherently flawed. Even darkcoins dreams of incorporating masternodes are redundant. With cryptonote technology, it is impossible to establish a link. Even if a wallet is detained for analysis, you cannot establish a trail. Although, there is still much work to be done.

It is very interesting how this technology will be viewed by regulatory bodies. Although many applications will prove legitimate, as with like cash, fiat or bitcoin there are always those who do the wrong thing.

If Invictus where to ever release a version of this software (done with their magic!) it would be very exciting.

Invictus continue as pioneers in the digital world. As delivery nears the anticipation is high- a very special moment in crypto!

Sorry, I was trying to warn you to be careful, not others to be careful of you

We do have numerous access points, yet people still get duped so I just wanted to help protect your ~31 BTC

Thank you Toast,

I misunderstood. You are a leading figure of the community and I appreciate the link. I am glad to see such strong awareness surrounding the issue and that educational material is available for all.

be careful

It is quite offensive to post that directly on my trade wall. Do we not have numerous access points for this information?

The post clearly indicates senior escrow. You have done nothing but deter potential trades.

I will be available during the Vegas 'beyond bitcoin' conference for personal trades.

Wanting to buy 500k + MMC.

Opportunity to sell large quantities without spooking the market. Private message to negotiate.

Senior escrow essential.

I would love to speak at the conference! My goal is to speak about the future of decentralised gaming applications and present my DAC to the community. I am still finalising draft proposals to submit to the shark tank.

I will be in touch during the following weeks.

Will you be honoring the social contract?

Of course. It is what I believe in.

I came up with the perfect speaker, can you Guess Who?

Lives close (Salt Lake City, Utah) to Las Vegas, owns Bitcoins himself, CEO of a well-known company that accepts Bitcoin, and stated why his company at the moment doesn't hold onto Bitcoins for more than a day because "There aren't any derivative instruments out there yet to hedge that risk, but we anticipate they will be created in one way or another."

hmmm hard to get that one  !!!  But would be nice if it could happen.

+1

You can work out an approximate average value from AGS donation data.

BitShares PTS / Re: Bithares are your legal property
« on: March 02, 2014, 04:20:20 am »
Bitshares derived from Protoshares caught on exchanges during snapshot are legal property of account holders. If you had Protoshares resting with an exchange, you are legally entitled to your dividends- regardless of their participation.

For substantial amounts this may be worth pursuing.

Actually I am going to disagree with you here based solely on the fact that the point of everything we are doing is post-contract society and thus there are no legal rights conferred on your deposits.. you lent them PTS and they owe you PTS but in a purely voluntary manner and not based upon threat of legal action.

This would be like lending someone your cow, they care for it and milk it while it is theirs, and then they return the cow to you 'on demand'.  It would be like lending someone your APPL stock, while they own the stock they get the dividends (it isn't yours any more).

If you want an agreement that retains your right to the dividends then you had better have it in writing.   Remember also, that no one is under any obligation to honor PTS or AGS unless they want market acceptance.   So please do not attempt to convert PTS and resulting dividends into a legal right.

Bottom line advice for everyone... deal with people you trust, don't rely on legal contracts or laws to protect you.  Instead rely on market forces and reputation to protect you.   If that isn't a strong enough guarantee then I wouldn't do business with that individual or company.

It has certainly got me pondering. I imagine the scenario is equivalent to this,

1) I buy BHP on the ASX using Etrade.
2) BHP pays dividends.
3) I own the BHP stock + dividends.

If Etrade were to withhold dividends, that would be theft, just as if an exchange attempted to withhold dividends.
Being crypto does not entitle free reign of law. These exchanges operate as an exchange and would do well to serve their purpose. It is not a matter of "participation".

I believe what Invictus are doing is certainly legal/cannot be governed, however property is property regardless of being a digital crypto asset or a bullion bar.
