General Discussion / Re: Why Vision Matters Blog Post
« on: December 29, 2015, 11:33:05 pm »
OMG! More ideological BS. Stop dreaming and make a decent exchange which could be used by merchants.

If you look it another way it might not be such a bad idea.

MAS is simple easy to grasp idea ( helping  poor, suffering, unfortunate people, by simple click of a button)
MAS has strong underlying emotion ( it is very easy to enter into that feeling, and it is fairy easy overwhelming)
MAS has sophisticated advertising tool thru social networks (this is basic model for informing and calling people for help, and all people doing there all the time is hanging around and gossip, so information is spreading by speed of light)
MAS has strong yet easy to assemble entrepreneurial model suitable for wide variety of solution for easy money. (use imagination, there are many examples there in the wild)

It could also mean a lot from general Bitshare marketing prospective being visible to tons of ordinary people relating Bitshares to something noble and positive. Every other idea from that source would be accepted much more readily and with greater attention.

Only drawback I could see so far is withdrawal of donations for average Joe.Yes and making donations also ;D

For starters, my intent is to focus mostly on marketing, community building rather than technology. The technology can take care of itself if you have the right ideas and messages that resonate.

This is best thing that could happen!! If nobody I will follow this resolution.

I have made a conscious decision to not invest more of my own money in unproven ideas. This means that I will take steps to prove an idea has traction and figure out how to market the idea before building it out. It means that the MAS will have thousands of members on "day one" because I won't even build it out if I cannot attract thousands of people to a concept.

MAS is successful because it is simple idea easy to grasp and has strong underlying emotion. We are at best, elephant riders, where elephant is our emotional being.
But don't forget that debit and credit cards actually made that simple and convenient.

We need to give people more reasons to come use the platform.

You shuould not give people more reasons, what you should give them is something they can see, feel, touch, smell, taste, experience.

Nobody bothers with reasons. And you are very tallented with viral presentations, explanations, asociations, examples, use that
instead of reasoning.

General Discussion / Re: What can we do better in BTS land?

I am following this forum from the end 2013. This community come along many crises like this and hypes like before realize of 2.0. People are now pised of and that’s for a good reason.

But I would like to tell something to BM. Mayer’s-Brigs personality tip model is only a model that tries to explain certain aspects of personality. It is most known and the most popular personality tip model. There are also other models. Nobody fits the model tip 100% accurate. They leave certain gaps and produce certain mismatches. That is why there are so many of them. It is like the map. And the map is not a territory.

According to one other model called Enneagram which has 9 tips and according to that model I would say you are 1st tip Reformer, Perfectionist. There are certain places they go under intimacy and some other under stress which could explain some of Bitshares development thru time but that is not a point.

Nobody is perfect, not even you. Just for exercise please complete this sentence:
If I allowed everything to be ok just the way it is 5% more…what would you do?

General Discussion / Re: Best Selling Option
« on: September 28, 2015, 11:47:41 pm »

I don't think anyone is ignoring his *valid* points.    I have yet to see acknowledgement of the counter arguments to his proposal which are ALSO based on game theory.

I am sorry because I didnt made my self clear about "valid points":

" The changes are also taking into account that the system should run flawlessly if this website and Bytemaster ceased to exist at any time.  The current system is far too bitshares website-centric.  I want to remove as much of the human element as possible and automate as much as possible."

and

" It's supposed to be a "DAC".  Your answer was not autonomous or decentralized at all.  You need to think of a better answer.  Especially one that doesn't entirely revolve around this website. What if they only speak Japanese?  What if they only speak Spanish?
Bitshares is currently designed to draw as little new people in as possible because there's no valid entry point in doing things like becoming a delegate.  Whatever answer you give me should make the assumption that this website does not exist at all as well.
"

and

" What if a govt entity goes after Bitshares like they did for Liberty Reserve and shut down this website?  There has to be an automated way of replacing delegates with ease:
The delegate replacement process has to be easy, seamless, and as autonomous as possible.  Any solution people suggest that involves asking Bytemaster to let them be a delegate is completely asinine."

It is not the point about his solution but about critics he made about current system.

All the tons of discussions on this forum means nothing compared to this one. So I couldn’t thing of more important issue to discus.
Its DPos mechanism. It makes foundation of Bitshares core value proposition. It is like basis for building. If the thing is positioned wrong whole building will be domed to fall.
Many things has changed over million years of human development. From knowledge to technology to organization of society.
But one thing remains constants all along. It is human nature.

Game Theory is best so far in providing logical system for explaining complex human dynamics.
So I am surprised how people ignore r0ach valid points.

Regarding the Ops question I suggest Tribe analogy.
Our system relies basically on its social structure, individual influence and trust in proven individual behavior. Now with its 17 witnesses (Council of Elders) it reassembles tribe structure ….and we all know the chef.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Solar PV-Bts Brainstorm
« on: May 08, 2015, 02:15:36 pm »
I think the OP has some kind of smart micro grid in mind and share of excess energy among PV members. Imagine number of houses in area interconnected and constituted microgrid where they could share excess energy. Some would have less or more demand then they produce some would have battery banks etc... So they would probably need some kind of smart trust-less system with market determined price or energy value for exchange. The value would vary according to demand, time of a day, whether conditions and etc...

Very interesting idea. How could Bitshares fit to smart micro-grid.

Btw is this OP idea?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Paid Workers Proposal for Review
« on: May 03, 2015, 05:50:37 pm »
You do not have to reinvent the wheel. Whatever Bishare need is CEO. There are basically two separate issues. One is collecting funds and the other is proper allocation. There are several methods of collecting funds including dilution but only one person should be responsible for spending. That person should be voted in and out.
We need simple solution. One man responsible for the whole project. We only need to vote for him. Everything else is over complicating and overestimating of ability and motivation of single account to participate in evaluating and decision making. Even average Joe accepts his imaginable role, he would be reasoning as described in Parkinson’s Law of Triviality.

Congratulations to NewMine! He opened some questions (reason not quite impressing) about voting mechanism that is not so obvious. And it is about one thing, does it work or not.

Model of collecting funds is the one that state has, in form of invisible tax imposed by dilution. And it is quite good, much better, much more acceptable then direct taxation. But on the spending side it is real mess.

Imagine a company that has hired its employees and leave them organize by itself. Their work accomplishment has little or nothing to do with its salary. What would they do? How long before everyone recognize that with effort or not your music is playing. Those positions are like paid positions of some bureaucrat. What does he need to do to earn his salary? He only need to jump position ones and he is set.

Now, most of delegates are honest highly valued employees. They are all here because they share higher cause (and to make some buck along). But don’t underestimate the forces of nature (aka Game Theory). Over time system will make them lazy and corrupt. They will face two options. Those that value honesty above all will leave and those stubborn will have to adopt to crowds nature. So voting system sucks. Does it need improvement? I have no doubt.

This price decline is so depressing. It is overall sample of present project situation.
There is only one thing that concerns me. There is lot of pressure on BM and the team lately. I think they are not conscious of this, but those pressures could make them make mistake(again) if they are not careful enough. On the other hand if they lose courage to make tough decisions and adopt this project could face valley of dead.

I apologies to OP if this goes slightly off topic but to me this incentive only shows that Bitshares has serious trouble with Marketing. It may be good idea for attracting more people but are the people that could be attracted like this the ones that Bitshares want to attract? What is the basic strategy behind this? Are those people the ones that would recognize the benefit of investing in BitUSD or UIA. Does these people really need any feature of Bitshares beside the need for quick and easy buck?

Professor ones asked the students:

„If you and I both owned hamburger stand and we were in contest to see who would sell the most hamburgers what advantages would you most like to have on your side?“
The answers vary. Some students say they would like the advantage of superior meat from which to make their hamburgers. Other say they want sesame seed bans. Other mentioned location. Someone usually want to be able to offer lowest price. And so one.

After those students finished telling what advantages they would like to have professor said:
"Ok I will give you every single advantage you asked for. I my self only want one advantage and, if you will give it to me, I will whip the pants off of all of you when it comes to selling burgers.“

„What advantage you want?“ They asked
„The only advantage I want,“ professor replayed, „is starving crowd!“

All we need to find is that “starving crowd” and present all solutions that we have for their problems. That should any Marketing do.

This idea also has one serious drawback. It needs a change of established rules. Like we didn’t learn anything from prior changes from BTSX to BTS rules. Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Anyway there are two questions one is oriented to efficiency and one to effectiveness.  The story above speaks of effectiveness or what to do. The efficiency story should speak how to do it. For that we need professional marketing team, period.

How much money Bitshares spend a month for maintaining network?
How much money Bitshares spend a month for its development?
How much money Bitshares spend a month for Marketing?
To provide a clue, marketing expenses should be at least 2% of above mentioned expenses put in hands of hired professional marketing team.

Who is going to decide it?

In my opinion block-chain technology wouldn’t change much in established political system. It represent significant treat to established arms of power and will be treated as such.

Libertian theory ignores one of two basic mechanisms in acquiring goods. Let me explain.
There are only two ways in acquiring goods. First one is by creation of good and/or a service which is then exchanged on the free market for other goods and services. Second one is by extortion of goods created by first way.

Humans has learned long before that fear of pain and loss creates much more motivation then love, gain, pleasure and achievement. Since then they use it as most effective way of acquiring goods.

Political establishment represents those animal of pray people. They are hunters and they are hunting.
Block chain technology tries to disassemble majority of traps that man hunter has developed over ages.

In order to succeed block-chain has to disassemble and reorganize the state. Is this going to happen?
I doubt but I hope.

General Discussion / Re: Is the Official Marketing Team Sleeping?
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:48:05 pm »
Soon this tread is going to be forgotten like many similar before. But the main problem is going to remain. From my prospective it is not the problem with marketing it is problem with effective leadership.

The marketing is inefficient all right. But there are more problems that are not so obvious. Like undelivered promises, prolonging schedules, no coordination, ineffective use of community’s and outer resources and many more. All those things are left to self management. BM has offered his leadership but it only applies to development and vision. How about the rest. At the beginning of Bitshares that role belonged to Charles Hoskins, as far as I know, and when he left it belonged to no one.

As I have trying to point before self management is a not good idea, especially if you don’t have some kind of sophisticated coordination mechanism. Voting is not sophisticated coordination mechanism and until someone come up with good one, we need some old fashion leadership.
