So, will people start to create customized miners that allow them to maximize the efficiency that they spend their CDD?

I haven't quite understood the task of the risk adjuster as described in the video. If the adjuster pays out alot in a month how will this affect their trust rating? Surely in a 'bad' month or a hurricane season there may be good reasons for mass payouts. How will the volatility in payouts that therefore may result - for the same type of claim - be addressed? Is there a planned trust rating system for those taking out insurance?

My understanding is that the risk adjuster is responsible for validating claims, and the payout that is due. A good adjuster should be able to show that he is being honest, and so his prediction market should remain stable even if he has to make a lot of payouts.

If I knew I'd be mining right now

Things will really start taking off when businesses start accepting bit-USD as a form of payment. Then everyone will be creating new wallet interfaces, the value of bitshares will grow rapidly, and it'll start to gain credibility as a currency.

I imagine the hardest part to implement  in a decentralized identity/reputation system is how to protect against sybil attacks. Whats to stop me from creating 1000 fake "accounts" and giving the target adjuster shitty reviews?

Anybody can advertise the adjuster in a positive or negative light anywhere, not just in the DAC's forum page. But in order to actually affect how much they can spend you have to actually affect the adjuster's prediction market.

Ah let me see if I understand what you mean. Let's say that I want to be an adjuster. I create a coin called "bitBeard" to represent my adjusting firm. As people trust me they will purchase more shares in bitBeard which will drive my price up. If I'm on the right track this logic seems to say that my prediction market will go up if I can turn turn a profit. Turning a profit doesn't mean that I'm honest

But if you turn away to many claims, then people will start to complain about you, and your prediction market will fall, while your competitors rise.

I think waiting a month to start receiving payout is to long, perhaps it could be shorter if the adjuster has had a good reputation for a very long time? Also, how do the shareholders in the DAC make a profit?

Interesting idea, although it sounds like it would be hard to implement. Where exactly is the DAC getting the funds to pay the developers? Would it be from transaction fees, or would the DAC have a storage of currency to pay developers?

I wish I could learn programming faster! Once I get good at it I've got a couple of ideas I want to try

BitShares AGS / Re: Today the last day to get AGS? 27/02

I contributed Bitcoin on the 27th and it seems to have registered on the 28th. Any guidance before I jump to conclusions?

sometimes it takes a while for the network to find a block, and/or the timestamp is off, so the donation may be counted on the next day if you donate late in the day.

BitShares PTS / Re: PTS value AGS

define value...
In terms of buying ags with pts directly, you'll get less than one ags per pts you send. However, the snapshot for Bitshares X will be on the 28th, when there will be significantly fewer ags than pts, so ags will get you more shares in bts than pts will. And of course, pts are liquid, ags aren't, as well as all their other differences which could contribute to their value ;)

BitShares PTS / Re: How to exchange PTS to BTS on 2/28?
« on: February 27, 2014, 11:10:08 pm »
Anyone from 3i can provide instruction for it? And if I miss to exchange PTS to BTS on 2/28, does it mean no chance to exchange it to BTS in future?

Just hold it in your wallet and you will be fine.  No action required on your part until you download the BitShares X wallet.

why there is someone saying ags worth 3.3 bts for people who have it before 2-28? how did he got this number?

There will be 4 million bts divided between pts holders and ags holders. 2 million to the pts holders, and 2 million to the ags holders. Since there are ten thousand ags issued each day, and on 2-28-14 ags will have been around for 59 days, that mean the 2 million bts for ags holders will have to be divided by 590,000 ags, this works out to 3.3 bts/ags.

You can keep buying AGS, but I think tomorrow is the deadline for buying them in order for them to count towards Bitshares X. Any AGD purchased afterwards will still count towards future 3I DACs, just not Bitshares X
