I like what you've shown us so far, looking forward to seeing more screenshots :)

I've submitted for a withdrawal and I'm currently waiting for it. I'll update this when I see my PTS in my wallet.
Edit: I received 9.29 out of about 16 PTS on the exchange, which is ok for me. I would like more if there's any left over, but I understand that some people lost a lot more than me.

That's a very neat idea Bytemaster, any plan to release it as an official DAC?

Ok, that makes more sense. Do you think this should use its own cryptocurrency, or would it be better for it just to use some currently existing cryptocurrency? Or, perhaps several media DACs could all honor a single coin, thus greatly increasing its value and usefulness.

General Discussion / Re: Encouraging Miners to Include Transactions
« on: November 25, 2013, 04:12:00 pm »
This is definitely interesting, but people could probably game the system easily if they just added a bunch of transactions between addresses that they own, lowering the difficulty of the block while maintaining control over their funds

I agree that there's a big opportunity for this, but the distributed storage required for this would be much greater than what's normally used for a cryptocurrency block chain. In addition to keeping track of the currency on a blockchain, you would have to store what could easily be terabytes of video. You could either accomplish this by increasing the amount of data that each node is expected to store, or by increasing the number of nodes on the network.

The difficult part of this would be figuring out how to repair the machines as they wore down, and how to build new ones as the DAC grew

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Blockchain Test Output
« on: November 25, 2013, 02:36:38 am »
Interesting, so any open bids and asks will be attached to the bottom of the Blockchain? Also, will the rewards really be starting out at 3,200,000,000 BTS per block?

Those are Satoshis and actual money supply numbers are not fixed.

The market at the bottom just summarizes the bids / asks in the chain for debugging purposes.

More important it to follow how dividends, fees, etc work and how the transactions link together.  Also note that that blockchain 'validates' so we are making a lot of progress.

Ok, thank you

Well bitshares, domainshares, etc aren't DACs because they don't exist yet. To be a DAC you must first exist.

They are both DACs in the process of being created. They will be full DACs when they're released.

The gaming industry has a massive annual revenue. I think that if someone could create this DAC and make it simple to use, with a good user interface, then this could become VERY valuable

BitShares PTS / Re: GPU Miners are here... if rumors are to be believed!
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:21:38 pm »
Difficulty is still increasing and rewards falling.    The next million will take a lot longer to mine.

True but diff time has ben undercut by factor 4 so far so we are done in roughly 6-8 month if this continues ^^

So? That should be positive. It is just like Monopoly, the game. When all resources are taken out there will be higher bids on the resources. It is only positive, imo.

But once a coin is all mined out, the only incentive to mine is for the transaction fees, which won't provide anywhere near as much income for miners as blocks do

General Discussion / Re: Momentum 2.0 Discussion

I definitely like the idea of restoring the momentum to the POW algorithm. I think the comparison step might be to easy for a GPU, although that might not be a bad thing for the network, as long as it stays ASIC resistant.

General Discussion / Re: Where are we going?
« on: November 22, 2013, 01:42:39 am »
So, is the lottery system entirely optional? People could still mine the standard way (with a longer maturity period) on pools and get a steady income, but the people hoping to win big could opt to solo-mine on the lottery system?

Correct, the loto-system would be a low-overhead extra that adds value to the overall coin.

Ok. Now I'll need to decide how to best split my limited resources between regular and lottery mining.
