I tried to short some of my PTS when the botnet started to mine, but it looks like that didn't work out so well. I still have most of my PTS, and I really think that every single one will end up yielding far more than their selling for right now

It would be especially interesting if a company released a bitshares based blockchain that they backed with their own stock. This could be done, although they might have a TON of issues with regulators...

I don't have a lot of hashing power to contribute, but I'm in!

I honestly think that this project is incredible. The value of each protoshare you can mine out is so much more than just a fraction of a BTC, it's worth one share in every DAC released by invictus innovations, and possibly some DACs released by their competitors. Anything you can mine out is going to become VERY valuable as these DACs are released. Obviously many of us want more than we can mine with our home computers, but it's still worth mining!

If there's going to be multiple bitshares chains that honor protoshares then I'm definitely not going to sell out, they're far to valuable. A few protoshares times several bitshares chains = a whole lot of bitshares  :)

I mined out one block in the first day, and i've gotten a few more PTS from pool mining since then.

What exactly are the uses for nameshares? Will they be used to increase the rating of your id?

BitShares PTS / Distribution of the network
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:17:15 pm »
In Bitcoin, the network shifted from cpu to gpu to fpga to asic mining. In every stage the shift created a movement toward a more centralized network. The key factor that cut people out at each stage is money, it's more expensive to mine on an asic than a gpu, which is more expensive than a cpu. In protoshares and bitshares, there is no opportunity for centralization through more advanced hardware. However, there is still the opportunity for centralization by means of a central point accumulating more cpus to mine. Do you think this could become a realistic possibility if bitshares or another momentum POW dac becomes large enough?

BitShares PTS / Re: does solo mining work?

Low payouts are normal if you aren't running a whole lot of machines. Remember, your payout is proportional to the amount of computing power that you're contributing to the pool. You're competing with everyone else in the pool for a piece of what the pool earns, which is proportional to how much computing power the pool is computing to the network.

I've mined out xpm on this pool before, they're pretty good. This miner is incredible, I really do want to see how this code works, but I'm willing to wait, while I'm using it to mine  :D

Whenever I try to start the miner it says "The program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Can anyone help me out?

i5 @ 2.4 GHZ & 6GB RAM -> 6.1 HPM

I've found one block so far, but plan on joining a mining pool as soon as it starts up
