Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Muse on Azure and other
« on: March 18, 2016, 12:18:17 am »
Being added to Microsoft Azure is still creating a lot of exposure for DACs atm and some have been added despite technically not being released yet.

- If possible get onto Azure and prepare a compelling one paragraph sales pitch. (Perhaps contact forum member Fox who handled it for BTS.)
- If possible coincide this with the release of the promo video which I believe is in the works.
- Create an official announcement thread to keep people updated about the upcoming release in Bitcointalk announcements https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

Follow the fairly professional format of Lisk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1346646.0

Folow up efforts to get listed on Bittrex/Polo should be much easier with the above.

The DAC market is really hot at the moment, there's no reason Muse shouldn't be in the $6-10 million range at current stage of development.

Yes, I am open to adding MUSE to the Azure BaaS platform, with consideration for compensation of my efforts thereof. Perhaps the MUSE leadership should be in contact to explore this opportunity further.

Technical Support / Re: Status on Bitshares ShapeShift
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:26:40 pm »
@xeroc any updates?
They have not come back to me yet .. which is a good sign IMHO .. give them the time they need for testing ... we don't want them to go out of business because of some implementation issues
May I request of @xeroc (or others working on this) to be connected with the ShapShift contact(s) via direct message or email? I am keen to see BitShares and BitAssets return to their platform. I am available to provide the integration support to their team.

Best,
Fox

I too have been looking into a community lead project management toolset.

Colonoy
A couple of days back I again requested an invitation to the Colony beta [1].  Their solution aims to reward members contributing to (our) project goals.  They call it Proof of Cognition.  Their platform integrates multiple communication and productivity services such as Slack, GitHub and others.  Unfortunately, it continues to be in closed beta, so it's vaporware to us.

Aha!
A ready to use toolset with great established integration is Aha! [2]. Aimed at product managers, it excels at visual roadmaps and quickly illustrating where a project is at by aggregating data from other tools. This allows business strategy (ideas) to inform project management (task management), to inform development (code), to cycle back to inform business strategy (community).  One can easily connect to Jira and GitHub for sprint planning and code tracking, Slack for team communication and has an open API to integrate others not already included in their extensive listing [3]. It's my personal favorite for this reason and I do have some experience utilizing the toolset.

Blueworks Live (IBM)
Business Process Management (BPM) is practice that may be a bit more mature than what this thread aims to accomplish in the short-run. However, I'd be remiss not to mention Blueworks Live, as it delivers a processes modeling solution far superior to Visio and others.  Beyond the intuitive modeling interface, it includes a feedback/propose/approve loop and an API to integrate with the above toolsets or others.

I'm happy to contribute in setting something up in coordination with a team of motivated community members.  PM with interest.

General Discussion / Re: Thought Experiment
« on: March 11, 2016, 10:19:16 pm »
My traditional bank recently sent me two $50 Visa gift cards at 3 months and 1 year (if memory serves accurate) to keep a higher balance in savings with them.  Further, I had to set an auto deposit to fund the account on an increasing basis.

Takeaway: Today I have a higher balance in savings with this bank and continue to utilize an auto deposit monthly to increase my savings.  They rewarded me for learning how to save in their bank.

Perhaps this model can be adopted/modified by a partner willing to invest in BitShares users.

Did you get around to devtest lab yet?

I have yet to get to this.  It is my next priority.  Please watch for a separate thread shortly where I will solicit feedback on how best to accomplish this.

You can get in touch with me, i've already done it for another project.

PM sent.

Dan,
May I request that you officially announce the release of BitShares on the Azure Blockchain as a Service platform [1].  I encourage you to try it prior, or solicit feedback from someone you trust that has, to be able to speak to the experience.

Points of information:
  • Google search: Bitshares on BaaS
  • Requirement: Azure subscription
  • Virtual Machine is Ubuntu 15.10
  • Interface is CLI wallet via SSH (GUI in future release)
  • Install options:
    • From PPA (15 minutes)
    • From Source (45 minutes)
  • Full functionality on live BitShares network
  • Watch for a Microsoft blog post highlighting BitShares on BaaS in the coming days

What about having the same but for Google Cloud Platfrom? It's one more platform, gives us more reach. Also the rest is only in Azure while we would be in two platforms.

Can't everything just be reused?

I will look into both Google and Amazon offerings.  If they have template-based deployment solutions similar to Azure, I should expect it will be relatively easy to adapt them.  I expect the Bash script to remain nearly unchanged.

Is there a preconfigured Linux release that one could use to spin up a node?  that would be cool.

Yes, that is exactly what the Azure BaaS templates are intended to accomplish.  Currently BitShares on BaaS is running on Ubuntu 15.10 based on the initial template.  Future updates will likely include builds on other OS platforms.

Awesome!  I’ll include in the latest update.

Above is the reply I received to my email containing the BitShares blurb the community crafted in the original thread.  It was received about 8 hours ago (while I slept).  He does not indicate "when" the update will occur however.

So dumb question... What advantages does Azure give to bitshares other than being associated with the Microsoft name?  Is Azure BaaS a market place?  Can people develop for BTS through Azure?
The Azure BaaS platform allows anyone to spin up a node and CLI wallet with the minimum of effort. When Plasma is released, I will add this to a template to enable the toolkit resources for developers.

sounds great  +5%

now i as a idiot user, can start my own node in 15 minutes? does i understand it correct? how is the pricing from Azure to services like AWS?
Yes, 15 minutes if you select to install from the PPA (longer if you build from source of course). The only requirement is an Azure subscription. Pricing varies by the region you choose to deploy the template to.
