General Discussion / Re: 350M votes for marketing delegates WTF
« on: August 19, 2015, 11:56:21 pm »
-argentina-marketing.matt608: 369M for his 100% delegate. Its hopeless, they save more in toilet paper than BitUSD.
-marketing.methodx: 355M votes - didnt he get bored and move onto his other business interests?
-market.cn.group101: 613M votes - they are "evangelizing" in China. The member that proposed that delegate has a grand total of 8 posts https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,13226.0.html He obviously got elected and pissed off.

Are we all just too apathetic to fire people?

Also, do delegates have to reapply for their 100% positions in BTS 2.0, so we can finally trim some fat?

We are well aware that marketing delegates will become obsolete with BTS 2.0 referral system, until that we still have goals.

Please read our thread were we post our work done.

We run the biggest Bitshares meetup group and the Bitshares team always is present in the monthly Bitcoin meetups, where the Argentinian one is in the top ten worldwide. There we always do bitshares paperwallets giveaways with tri-folds and often talks about Bitshares, next one coming this Friday.

If you have any question and/or suggestion will be welcome in our thread.

General Discussion / Re: Why is Litecoin going insane?
« on: July 14, 2015, 04:59:49 am »
IMO - and I think it is at least an educated one - LTC is moving up for two reasons. Recently, the block reward halved, and I think we are seeing that knowledge post facto being priced into the market. I also think the lack of an answer to the block size debate in BTC is causing some capital flight into LTC until the BTC stuff gets worked out. It seems almost like a threat - "If you guys don't figure out this mess, we'll just switch to a new coin." It's beautiful, and I love it! BTC must submit to consumer demand!

that sounds like a very thoughtful, logical explanation for the LTC rally. i wouldn't be surprised if some of the demand comes through that channel, but i don't imagine that many traders to be so thoughtful!

Block halve reward (50 to 25 LTC/block) will occur in 42 days aprox.

@bytemaster can you please get rid of the reference to nasdaq transaction processing speed. even a cursory investigation demonstrates that the information you provided is false. it's rather concerning that you are creating a securities exchange without knowing much about the industry...

Could you please provide more accurate information I can quote.

Press release from 2013:

"Approximately 25 billion messages pass through NASDAQ OMX's U.S. equities and options systems on an active day, which amounts to over 1 million transactions per second in a trading day. During volatile periods, peak message traffic can be double."

Here is some earlier discussion about this.

Assuming a 'message' is a transaction then 25 billion tx/ day mean 290k tx/s.

« on: June 19, 2015, 08:55:28 pm »
We are planning our first exclusive Bitshares Meetup to be in one week at the Buenos Aires Bitcoin Space. We halted our BitUSD paper wallets giveaways as ElMato & Dargon LimeWallet (ex Bitshares Wallet) is currently not working but we will encourage participants to bring their laptops so they could install the desktop wallet and register an user.

Just to add to @rnglab updates. Yesterday Bitshares meetup went great. See more details at the meetup thread. Buenos Aires has the biggest Bitshares meetup group! :D How is this community still so small?!

29
We did a warm first Bitshares meetup at the Bitcoin Embassy coworking space. @elmato did an excellent explanation of the Bitshares platform including some of the Bitshares 2.0 new key functionalities. We installed the Bitshares client into several participants notebooks as they were asked to bring them, gave some bitUSD away and shared a few beers.
