General Discussion / Re: Mobile Wallet - Testers needed
« on: April 15, 2015, 03:09:17 am »
Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of updates in the last weeks, Pablo and I have been busy with personal issues, I being a father again with some minors issues and Pablo moving from his house.

I will focus this week to get a release ASAP for you to test.

Ey! Congrats! alpha2 still running flawlessly on my phone ;)

Bitshares Team Argentina

Who we are:

  • Francisco Osca (@fran2k). Event Organizer and Speaker on presentations. Marketing.
  • Matias Romeo (@elmato) Programmer. Main developer of LimeWallet (ex BitWallet) Already delegate (elmato). Speaker on Bitshares presentations.
  • Pablo Tutino (@dargonar) Programmer. Main developer of LimeWallet (ex BitWallet) Shares delegate with Matias Romero (elmato).
  • Etienne Marcus (@etimarcus) Programmer & Designer. Speaker on Bitshares presentations.
    See Intro.
  • Maria Palma. Photographer and filmmaker.
  • Nahuel Peerz (@rnglab). Multitask. Sysadmin.

We are working on:

  • Monthly Buenos Aires Bitcoin meetup. This has been done in four meetups in a row since December 2014, doing three talks, one wallet workshop and three BitUSD paper wallet giveaways.
  • Also in other events from or in collaboration with local Bitcoin community. We are doing monthly meetups and drinkups and one yearly conference (LaBitCoinf, next one at the end of year in Mexico), stands, talks, paper wallet giveaways + installing ElMato mobile wallet, on every suitable conference.
  • Building a local Bitshares community, “Bitshares Buenos Aires”, and expand to other strategic regions when it becomes strategic as well. Creating and managing Bitshares Buenos Aires Meetup site and Facebook community / page.
  • A monthly Bitshares exclusive meetup with talks, Q&A,  paper wallets giveaways, etc.
  • Creation, translation and spreading of content.
    • BitShares101 ebook already translated into spanish.
    • Brochures, stickers, etc.
    • Tri fold already translated and being printed.[/url]
    • Collaboration with the video production team.
    • Audio and video registration of talks and podcasts. Two already done with matt608.
  • Collaboration with @elmato and @dargonar for LimeWallet (ex BitWallet) testing and diffusion (mobile wallet assisted installations on Meetups, attenders instantly redeems BitUSD paper wallet giveaways with great acceptance).
  • Participation with stands  and talks in several conferences. We are teaming up with Ariel Aguilar, which is one of the principal marketers of bitcoin in Argentina, to share stands in several conferences.
  • Paper Wallets: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,11847.msg188492.html#msg188492
  • Our past meetups

Updates on delegate team

We want to thank Mat608 for his great work as Argentina Marketing partner and his initiative on this delegate creation, wise driving and reliable administration. We are proud to have his confidence as delegate successor, and wish him the best for his upcoming projects.

We agreed with Matt on a delegate replacement for argentina-marketing-matt608, and he kindly accepted to run his delegate a couple extra months so we can prove integrity and commitment to the community while coordinating the new delegate registration and vote swap proposition.

With actual team reorganization we are working voluntarily. No one is getting paid for their contributions until we prove being valuable for the network. If a specific service needs to be paid to somone, that will be proposed in advance.

Budget allocation

Given our main goal to target already crypto-friendly public until Bitshares stable release, expenses have been low. As long time active members of Bitcoin Argentina community, we already have place and resources to create Meetups and participate on many conferences and other crypto related events. Costs are many times limited just to BitUSD paper wallet giveaways, printing and little else.

Matt has around 1500 BitUSD delegate savings (plus last weeks payouts).  He has already covered his delegate registration fee.

We want to keep this direction, while making bigger plans for the upcoming times.
We would like to have some feedback at this point:
  • Do you think we should keep saving as much as possible until 1.0 release?
  • If so, what percentage would you like us to allocate on actual conferences as paper wallet giveaways, tri fold printing, etc?
  • Should we start a discrete paid advertising campaign prior to 1.0 release?
  • Should we remain filming talks at this moment?
  • Would be right if we use funds to pay the delegate registration before the vote swap?
  • Would you like Bitshares to sponsor Ariel Aguilar Bitcoin Evangelist conferences on one of his sponsorship/pricing categories? I.e. in the 250USD we could have access to participation in stands in top tier conferences where we can giveaway paper wallets + brochures. (See his Bitcoin Evangelism Plan Crowdfunding Campaign.)
  • Any other input is also welcome

We'd like to hear all views that contribute to align the community on a steady course

If there's any doubt I'm supporting this post and @rnglab is an old and trusty friend. We will make a new thread asap.

elmato   He is part of the Argentina-marketing.matt608 team. Another Marketing team.

argentina-marketing.matt608    Marketing delegate who has left and supposedly handed the reigns over to a different group that include elmato, another 100% delegate.

elmato   He is part of the Argentina-marketing.matt608 team. Another Marketing team.

Nope , elmato is the developer of a cellphone app version of wallet , who happens to be one of the people helping out the marketing in Argentina .

elmato, is effectively the dev, along with dargonar, of the first iOS and Android bitAsset wallets, called BitWallet, next version will be renamed to LimeWallet. Main thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,11902.0.html

elmato has also participated in several BitShares talks we had done in the Bitcoin Center Buenos Aires. This was in coordination with the argentina.marketing.matt608 delegate team, from which he is part.

Our past meetups:
[2015-03-20] Buenos Aires - Paperwallets Giveaway and Install Workshop
[2015-02-19] Buenos Aires - Bitcoin 2.0: Bitshares, Sidechains y Ethereum
[2015-01-22] Buenos Aires - bitShares & bitUSD, DACs, Blockchain Based Apps &+
[2014-12-11] Buenos Aires - bitShares & bitUSD Meetup

With that said maybe we can put a website together that highlights the delegates & responsibilities and have another section where we can expect weekly progress reports and have some accountability (we can keep this open or private to members).  Eventually I think we need to put a delegate team page with pictures for the bitShares DAC delegates.  I know some may be uncomfortable so it shouldn't be required, but whenever you look at a company you want to know who is behind it.  It brings the human element to the project.  Just like the Peer-to-Peer tour, Stan, Bytemaster etc bring a human element to bitShares.  You gain trust much faster from others that way.  That's an advantage Bitshares will always have over the anonymous guys from NXT, Darkcoin etc.  It would be good to recruit more females and global talent because money is universal and we want everyone involved.   It's great we have a strong Chinese contingent.

Anyways you can link up a delegate website to the Bitshareblocks.com's delegate page, but keep it running seperately.  It can have real-time financials totally transparent for everyone to see.  When you think about the level of transparency you can have with the DAC compared to regular corporations & governments, this system is definitely revolutionary.  I can grab the domain: btsdac.org if people like that domain?  I can even set up a simple Wordpress site, but we have to have someone build a data feed of delegate info to it.  The website page can read:  BitShares DAC, 'The World's First Decentralized Autonomous Company'...  anyways what do you all think?

This will be very useful. Delegates should use more their walls to burn comments and updates.

dev0.nikolai   As far as I can tell, he no longer is a Dev with BTS but with PLAY/NOTE

marketing.methodx   Marketing group. MethodX gave up the reigns to others and they are putting out a newsletter.

argentina-marketing.matt608    Marketing delegate who has left and supposedly handed the reigns over to a different group that include elmato, another 100% delegate.

delegate-dev2.btsnow           Redundant delegate

dev-trial.misc.nikolai   This one is funny and I think is an inside joke with Toast. The guy this was intended for is gone, the fees paid off and was supposed be taken offline. But here it is still there banking money.

dacx.baozou   Crowd funded and VC funded, why do they need a delegate. (One of the elusive Chinese whales perhaps?)

provisional.bitscape   Redundant delegate

I think we should start spring cleaning, above are a selected group of delegates that we can use as a starting point. Some of these may be worth keeping, but lets hear the justification of why that should be. Without legitimate justification for their continuance, let us move to promote removal of these delegates.

What research have YOU done on this (or are you waiting for others to do it for you?)

http://bitsharesblog.com

I would be interested in seeing  your analysis of the value of the "selected group of delegates" above being placed on http://bitsharesblog.com

I keep up to date with delegates and take my vote away from those I consider to not be adding potential to BitShares.

That involves a lot of work on my part. I was on Marketing conference calls with some of the delegates for many hours this past Easter weekend.

What we need to do is encourage dialogue to evaluate the delegates. I picked out a handful from Newmine's list and would love to hear your opinions on them as well as everyone else's. This is something we should be doing, it is more constructive than simply bemoaning the price.

What I do not like so much is delegates leaving and 'handing' off their position to someone else. Do we not have a way for a 100% delegate to reduce his or her pay? If you are hired, and you decide to move on, it would be nice if you reduced your pay to 3% and continue signing blocks, inform everyone and ask to be voted out.

Another way your could choose to look at it is that, as we grow, delegates are destined to become small businesses funding perhaps several people to accomplish their tasks.  Under that model, people might come and go while the business remains in good graces.  If that is not philosophically objectionable to you, then having delegates find someone to "take over" for them on the mission they were hired to do (as a proto-business) seems like it could be perfectly natural.

Thanks Stan, that resumes whats actually happening with the argentina.marketing.matt608 delegate, which will be 'argentina.team' delegate. We are in a transition period, and we are planing to switch to this new delegate during the next three months. Here is the post where matt608 clarifies the situation: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,11847.msg198849.html#msg198849

We will be posting some more info about this in the coming days.

Do the guys in Buenos Aires have a meetup.com page?

By adding "BitShares" to the meetup page's list of topics under "Group Settings", it will show up on http://bitshares.meetup.com

Not yet. I tried to create it some weeks ago but it asked for a CC. I'm waiting for someone on the team to register it.

We were using the Bitcoin one, in which I'm also organizer. http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Argentina/

Just created with Robrigo's help: http://www.meetup.com/BitShares-Buenos-Aires/

I'm wondering what's better BitShares Buenos Aires or BitShares Argentina? What do you guys think?

Website (bitshares.com.ar already registered) and FB page will be next.

I also care.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Etienne, 38 years old, father of 2. I'm a  programmer-designer and have been involved as of lately with the Bitcoin Association at Buenos Aires.
I participated in several talks at their meetups, and together with fran2k & ElMato from this forum, and many other collaborators, we are constantly pushing forward BitShares here in Buenos Aires.

I can personally atest to the ongoing non-stop coding by ElMato, so please be patient. He is on it 100%.
I can also atest to all the energy being put to gather more and more people to our bitshares meetups, to giving bitUSD's away to attendees while instructing them on platforms, wallets and other important data surrounding the bitshares phenomenon.

We are building a community and we are loving it!

I'm glad to see you here finally!

Besides all this, we are working side-by-side with @matt608, @fran2k and @rgcrypto holding meetups in the Buenos Aires Bitcoin Center, teaching the local Bitcoin community about BitShares and bitAssets, doing paper wallets giveaways, creating a video about BitShares in spanish with the people from btcenespanol.com and (as soon as i have some time) helping BTCTrip.com to accept bitUSD as a payment method.

Great news ElMato, lot of exciting things hapenning.

I want this translated to spanish asap for using along with our BitUSD paper wallets giveaways in Argentina.

I'm not a professional translator or anything, but I have taken on the task of doing a translated version into German.
Could you help us all and translate a version into Spanish too?
That would be awesome! There's a huge populace of Spaniards here in Munich too.
Let me know and I will PM the v3 text to you that needs to be translated, thanx! :)
  -ken

Sure, I will do the spanish one.

We are needing this stuff in the meetups to give along with the paper wallets.
