Hey guys.

Quick update.....I can assure you we are working around the clock on the marketing campaign.  Just like the many months Dan and the devs were working on BitSharesX - where it seemed like nothing at all was happening, this too isn't as easy (or as fast) as any of us would expect or want it to be.

The marketing team has been spending nearly every day (and most of the event in Vegas) speaking with "on-ramp" service companies in order to find the best solution for getting USD into BTSX and bitUSD.  We are VERY close, btw, with one of them.  In addition, we are working on an "off-ramp" partner who can provide a bitUSD direct to a prepaid credit card to allow users to get out of bitUSD without needing a normal crypto exchange.  We were hoping to find one company to do both, but no one is able to do both at this time so we have two different sides to develop for this platform.

On top of both of those partnerships, we're looking for "backup" service providers in the event either one cant handle the volume we intend to push.  We need to tie in the API's on the back end for a seamless experience, build a separate site, finish producing the multiple videos that explain what/how/why of BTSX and bitUSD, and so much more.

This project is more involved than it may look from the outside, but I can assure you everything is moving forward.  Like Dan, I'm not going to put a specific date on when all this will be completed and the "go" button pushed, but it WILL happen. And when it does, it will be plainly obvious it is a DIRECT result of our efforts.

As for transparency, we are not sharing all the details of how or where we're going to get all the new users we expect to see into our system, or precisely what we are doing, for obvious reasons.  No one in the industry is doing what we are attempting to do - which is the very reason we will have the results no one else is having.

The team I've assembled is nothing short of top notch and has knocked it out of the park in many other industries.  I have no doubt they'll do the same with us.  We expect a VERY significant increase in new users, as well as capital, into both BTSX and bitUSD, once launched, so our goal is real growth, not "pumping" the value artificially.

I know many of you are anxious and wanting to see big returns on the of time, money and trust you've placed in BitShares.  I too want all of those things.  We will get there, I have no doubts.  Stay tuned.... The day we launch, I'll make the forum aware of it immediately so you can see exaclty what we've created and send your own friends and contacts through the site, to participate.

Thanks! B

Brian, you've described bizdev activities or  "business development".  What is the marketing plan?

Do you think Bizdev (strategic partnerships and personal relationships) and Marketing (messaging) are the same thing?

The client is currently slow and buggy with lots of UI issues and in general just gives a bad user experience. There is no mobile client, no blockchain.info style web wallet, also no easy way to create paper wallets (bitaddress.org style).

I don't think marketing should start until all these things have been created and polished.

 +5%

But knowing what I know about this team, they can't be oblivious to all these things.  Instead, I think they've got a few tricks up their sleeve.  Will the marketing push coincide with the release of the new BitSapphire wallet?

That would make perfect sense. The community should be ready to do its part once it comes to that

My observations says Invictus does not have a marketing plan, and I think you'll be sadly mistaken if you're waiting for a planned and executed strategy surrounding anything.  Invictus needs people who can do marketing to get involved, but it seems like they have in the past confused marketing with bizdev.  Talking to important people one at a time to find synergies and make deals is totally great and necessary, but that's not marketing.  Bitshares could really benefit from some quality, educational marketing material targeting early adopters in a couple of broad archetypes to help them concisely understand why Bitshares is the thing they want to get involved with vs any of the other options out there.

Unfortunately the most concise messaging we've seen has been "earn 5% on anything" or "bitusd is just as good as usd" which are very misleading unless you have a lot of outside context.

I saw lots of people asking for this, but didn't see that anyone whether on the invictus team or not did this.

Brian, did you guys capture daniel onstage this time?

Inside Bitcoins events are usually not recorded in any official capacity.  If the Bitshares guys aren't filming, it isn't being filmed.

Tell me if I´m wrong...

When buying notes on the presale... you don´t know at what price you´re doing your purchase... until the end of the day...

is this right?

If is right... in my case... I don´t want to get into something with so low information about price...

Yup, its a different price each day depending on participation - same as Angelshares was.

When Vertcoin first came out, DS was the lead cheerleader. That lasted all of about three weeks before he bailed...with no gain.

This reminds me of when 2-bit announced he had horrific earth shaking news of scandal at the bitcoin foundation and that he had pre-emptively sold all his bitcoins because it was all over.

good news for the ecosystem at large.

I meant jealous of the trip location, that's all.

lol, no.  I hate traveling and routinely turn down invitations because it takes so much time that I can more valuably use other ways.

lol. Why on earth would I be jealous? I've been a Bitshares supporter since before Invictus was formed as a company.

Can you describe the marketing plan so far?  I've been looking for months.  This seems to be the first effective move, or did I miss something?

I really wish when I ask a simple question it could just be answered by the person I'm asking instead of the forum defense force jumping in to tell me how I'm not supposed to ask questions I want to know the answer to.

Anyhow, I deleted the comment because I don't have time to argue with the FDF - See ya'll in September.

It's really striking how close we are to XRP...

XRP is an excellent example of why Market Cap is a terrible way to compare cryptocurrencies against each other.  Apparently this whole rally is being caused by a few people buying large amounts who announced they are doing so, so at whatever point they stop buying those amounts unless there are other people waiting to pick it up this is a very temporary rally and so would be the market cap that goes along with it.

I hope there is real development too and not just a couple doods using their size to lift the price until they've satisfied their needs.

General Discussion / Re: Negative Post about Bitshares

What's interesting is this guy doesn't allow comments on his blog post.  Guess he doesn't want to enter the arena of ideas and have his challenged.  But he does have a place to email him directly. I suggest we win him over, or attempt to rather than fight him.  His opinion is based on a lot of ignorance about BitShares, but it's good practice for all of us to win over our worst critics, or attempt to, even if we dont.  What's amazing to me is that with as many people as we meet and talk to at all the events we attend, rarely do we find anyone who has more than one or two objections...so bloggers like this are certainly in the minority..... B

Totally agree he should be engaged with and educated, but I think your final comment might be more indicative of trouble than the good you seem to be implying from it.  Preston works professionally in the non-crypto comparable industry to what Bitshares X hopes to accomplish (derivatives).  Because of that, he has context with which to look at Bitshares X and say "Oh, it's the same from conventional tools in this way and different in these ways and this is what that means" which I'm willing to bet most of the "bloggers" do not.

When you speak to these "bloggers" how many of them actually understand how Bitassets work, or even think they do vs. how many are just trusting that Dan knows what he's talking about and think it sounds really neat.

Do you understand how Bitassets work well enough to respond to this article?

I definitely think it would be better to not refer to Bitshares or Invictus in the same sentence as "Bank"

This isn't the first time someone has thought Bank was the best word for their venture, only to run into trouble...

I've complained many times about provocative thread titles that mislead people, specifically coming from Bytemaster, since forever.

I agree with Adam here... Dan should know better.

For somebody that posts 75-100 post a day, I refused to post in this thread up to now.  Above is more or less the reason I did so.

Good mea culpa, although it seems Vitalik didn't agree quite as much as you thought, more that he was just very open (probably because they are actively seeking solutions and not tied into anything yet)
