General Discussion / What is the demographic of the dumpers?
« on: April 29, 2015, 01:08:58 pm »
Is it Chinese whales?
Is it some delegates who get new BTS so are not selling at a loss?
Is it Adam E? (j/k)
Or is it just that everyone's annoyed by the client? (not me)
Theories?

Me personally I work full time so Ive got no time to speculate & day trade. I dont need the money so I just HODL. Im starting to think Im the only one here.

For crypto to be valuable it needs to be profitable. No other crypto project gets that. For people to dump their BTS before we get to that profitability stage seems to me to be very short sighted.

I've bought 700k BTS this week.

I seriously hope you are kidding. Why would you even brag about that? Especially after this huge drop today.

This dump is so fast that a bounce could come at any time. Who cares if he miss-times it by a few days?

Ripple just announced they are partnering with WU. Can we match that? How long will it be before you can announce partnerships for integrating with BitShares? (Summer?)

When the market works well again and the client isnt buggy, the valuation should start heading back where it was.

Are we sure about that? Given that this downtrend looks exactly like that of any other 2.0 coin, shouldnt we conclude that the vast majority of BTS trading is done on central exchanges, held by users who dont really care about BTS long term. Therefore a polished client isnt going to help that.

We need to bounce back a few times and make people regret dumping their BTS.

Im hodling. I hope everyone who dumped kicks themselves in a few months when BTS finally becomes a popular exchange.

Are they really saying that this lone guy was the only one doing layering? Its the most obvious HFT strategy and big institutions probably do it all the time. Sounds like another case of regulators only going after the little guy. His mistake was that he didnt do this as an employee of a bank.

Our web-based wallet is awesome, but apart from not having its own deposit page (I know, its coming), here is another thing thats not quite right:

bter.com
btc38.com
cryptsy.com

All those popular exchanges have their own easy to remember domain name and brand. Our web wallet needs one too. wallet.bitshares.org sucks as a domain name.

Blocktrades.us is a great domain name (.io is better), maybe they can host it from there. Maybe this is another thing thats already in the pipeline, if so then great.

We have pages of threads debating the finer points of BitUSD versions & shorting rules, but BitUSD basically works. A few tweaks will not stop this downtrend if we arent making the product accessible.

We need to focus attention on one domain name where people can deposit their Dogecoin and LTC for our UIAs, which they can trade for BitAssets.

To escape this downtrend we need to make it as easy to deposit into wallet.bitshares.org and trade as it is in btc38.com

Dilution or the finer points of shorting are not the cause of the downtrend, the product just isnt quite ready yet.

If we are going to drastically change something...maybe the reversal of the merger should be the number one change on the chopping block.  As far as I can tell we gained nothing and lost a lot from it.

Did we gain nothing from Vote and the secrete sauce? /sarcasm

I didnt realise such radical thinking was on the table. Sounds great if its possible, but arent the new funds already mixed together?

General Discussion / Current plans on delegate pay?
« on: April 25, 2015, 05:12:21 pm »
Managed to listen to some of the mumble on Friday. From what I gather, the new plans are:

-Remove inflation for delegate pay
-Create the referral scheme that takes all the BitUSD transaction fees, so no more yield on BitUSD

This is great for the people now known as marketing delegates, but how do we still pay developers, whose product cant be quantified but is no less valuable?

So is this the plan to make us deflationary again, instead of making fees generated > delegate pay, get rid of delegate pay altogether?

358
My question:

Can you give any more details about how we are going to generate more fees to become deflationary again? Is it by more of perfecting the product & making it accessible, or is it by strategic partnerships that cant be disclosed?

359
1) return to deflationary model

As we are obviously keeping the inflation for delegate pay model, Im going to speculate that Bytemaster means BitShares is integrating with some well-established exchange/gateway that will allow a tonne of BitAssets to be sold (without using the client), making the blockchain highly deflationary on balance.

Am I right? (I know, we can only speculate) :P

Buy the Rumor, Sell the Fact

Um,  Buy the Rumor, HODL the Fact.   :)

How about Stan tries to get you to buy another rumor, there is no fact. Sorry Stan but for me these comments dont help.

I am comfortable with having those who trust me get a little advantage.

 :)
we trusted you before, and we were trapped,so please stop release this kind of  troll again.

When has Stan or any of the rest of the team ever let you down? BitShares keeps getting better and better, and you can see its getting more accessible with onramps, instant web wallets etc.

The fact that Stan cant reveal everything to me makes perfect sense. If I was a big established player/exchange about to integrate my orderbook with BitShares, I wouldnt announce anything until I accumulated my position from all the weak hands. I wouldnt want forum regulars to frontrun me.
