General Discussion / Re: 0.4.10 USD:BTSX Are bids stuck?
« on: September 01, 2014, 12:26:40 am »
Im pretty sure it is to do with this:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8050.0

The average delegate price limits what the shorts can do.

Markets for USD and BTC are now live.... trade at will.

On the bitUSD market I have put in a bid that matches an ask (not short) and it is not going through - just sitting there as the highest bid. What's going on with that?

Shorts that are above the average are not matched and the GUI hasn't been updated to filter them out.

No wonder, but it's very confusing. When those orders will be filtered out?

I am working on that right now.  The market GUI is a mess right now, but I think DAC Sun can role out updates without a new release.

So is preventing shorts above average meant to stop shorters speculatively decreasing their asks in a clearly bullish BTSX market, just so that they can be first to match the bids? i.e. to fix the peg deviation.

The wallet is showing that the combined ASK + BID depth is still over 20 million. Is that not the minimum depth?

General Discussion / Re: Do the assets have their own blockchain?

Hi, I have trivial question.

Bitshares founders say that 1 USD will be always equal to 1 BitUSD, but what if the count of BitUSDs runs out? Then, some body must create new, and become owner of it, right?.
So, that means that there is (the) one man, who can create BitUSD from air and exchange them for real money.

If so - the difference between USD and BitUSD, is only the "money printer owner"...

Who does control the capitalization amount of BitUSD/BTC/XXX and any other assets?

BitUSD can be created when there is BTSX to back its value as collateral. The more BitUSD is used for trade, the more valuable BTSX is, therefore more BitUSD can come into existance.

John, thanks for the graph and link.

But shouldnt a fibonacci retracement have 100% at the start of the movement, and 0% at the predicted end of it? 100% retracement means that the drop in this case has recovered back to its starting point and will continue with a new movement.

Your 100% retracement is at end of the movement, meaning its not a retracement. Thats how I interpret fibonaccis anyway.

General Discussion / Re: BitUSD and BTSX questions
« on: August 29, 2014, 06:25:24 am »
-BitUSD is an asset on the BTSX blockchain, created using BTSX as collateral.
-The situation is that the wallet is going through some teething issues, and volumes are small therefore its hard to create BitUSD right now.
-You hold BitUSD when you want stability, you hold BTSX when are bullish on the shares.

Does bitcoinwisdom display BTSX yet? What is the url for that chart?

And where do you think this dump will bottom out? I feel annoyed that I got caught up in the hysteria again and didnt sell at the top.

Im personally holding off on using the BitUSD exchange until the bugs are worked out. That's probably holding back adoption for a lot of people. Then hopefully BTSX will recover.

Trading BitBTC would be great to trade on the price of BTSX itself, because you wouldnt be exposed to BTC's dollar price.

Lets do it!

General Discussion / Re: Thoughts on BitShares and BitUSD
« on: August 27, 2014, 10:08:34 pm »
BitShares can never become the primary exchange for Bitcoin, potentially even Gold due to it not being able to determine its own real price.  It can only be a small percentage of the real markets that actually demand swapping/depositing of the real asset.

99% of gold trading is just paper gold anyway. No one demands the real asset. Its all fictional and just based on what everyone else is doing. At least BTSX disregards that illusion :)

Interest is payed by the shorts to the holders of BitUSD somehow, at least when this feature is added.

5.  No.  Interest is earned by reducing the total supply.  Your coins will increase in value as the percentage of the total market cap that they make up increases.  You should still not keep much on the exchanges.  With on blockchain trading there is no reason too, and it is an unnecessary risk.

You are talking about the implicit dividends from share burning. Interest is a different thing and is earned on holding BitAssets. Just trying to be clear for the new guy.

Hopefully it will be on Crypsy soon.

In the file menu there is "Export Wallet".

Daily burn is about 1500 BTSX currently, last time I checked.

Yes trading BitUSD has begun, there are a few thousand in circulation.

The interest feature hasnt been enabled yet, and no you wont need your wallet on to earn interest.

Enjoy the ride!
