20M BTSX in depth is too much.

Perhaps:  I consider it a safety valve.  We have the ability to add / remove that depth at any time.

Well we are half way there aren't we? Bid depth is 1M and Ask depth is 9M.

Edit: We are almost there at 20M, this is so exciting :)

Now I do believe that the average woman is a better investor than the average man.

That's a very strong statement...

I would agree that they are better shoppers.

That clear bit of acceleration at the end looks very exciting  :D

Is there some url that regenerates a more up-to-date graph? I would like to keep tabs on this.

It would be really interesting to correlate the recent price rise to the forum membership.

General Discussion / Re: BTSX/Atlcoin what would you like to trade?

Btc38, Here is an idea: why doesnt your exchange buy a million or so BTSX, and then add markets between bitUSD and every other altcoin. bitUSD would then be established as the new gateway crypto currency, and you would make a huge amount of money (as well as all of us round here ;) )

I think we should keep bumping that bitcointalk thread every once in a while ;D

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares X underline value

I feel like everybody is missing the crucial reason why BTSX will be worth so much. The reason is simple: bitAssets are backed by at least 1.5 times their value in shares of BTSX, so the market cap of BTSX will always be at least 1.5 times greater than the total market cap of all bitAssets.

You could think of it like this: every time someone creates 1 bitUSD, they put up $2 worth of BTSX as collateral. This collateral is unspendable until the bitUSD loan is repaid, so those shares of BTSX have effectively been removed from the share supply. It's as though they've been temporarily burned, Whig reduces the overall supply of BTSX, driving up the per-share price.

Make sense? BTSX is valuable because its value is more or less proportional to bitAsset demand.

Great point!

You missed out that a big part of the expected price rise is due to more people observing how good the dividends are due to all the burned transaction fees from market trading.

I.e. this digital asset combines usefulness (bitUSD) with great economics (dividends).

I understand that about btsX but will bitUSD have the same feature? I mean, will parts of its fees be burned and that process work as paying dividends for bitUSD holders?

Well this thread was about the underlying value of BTSX. bitUSD dont get dividends, but they will get +5% interest when that feature gets enabled.

As I understand it, bitUSD fees are collected into an insurance fund, which is used in the event of the collateral losing value (black swan situation). If I am a holder of bitUSD, am I the one who gets payed in that situation?

I still find the terminology really confusing. Its not clear to me whether Bids means you are bidding for BTSX using bitUSD or vice versa.  ???

I wish the gui would remind me which is which in the column headers.

Best antidote for trolls it to let them see the bitUSD peg working. Then they will see how good BTSX is as a store of value.

For a myriad of reasons purchasing your own currency with investor money does not seem wise.

It shows that i3 actually believe in their own product's long term value. Its great news.  +5%

Each share months from now should be worth 50cents -> $1 range. The fact that they are going for a few cent a piece is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Really? That would make a hundred or so people on this forum millionaires. Who knows what will happen, but there will be major dumping before we reach that price level. I think there is lots of dreaming going on in these parts.

Oh, and IMHO we can only reach that price level if BitUSD actually gets used for real merchant activity and not just as a hedge against BTSX.

*Only* 3%  :o

Anyone care to speculate how many Bytemaster has ? And will he leave his shares untouched like the great Satoshi did ?

Im kidding of course, but I do think their should be some disclosure about what Invictus' intentions are.
