Muse/SoundDAC / FIXED: Multi-Bit wallet says NOTE address isn't valid?
« on: November 18, 2014, 03:41:02 am »
I've tried sending a donation to the Music Foundation address but I keep getting this message using Mult-Bit:
Quote
The address "37X8DHpfiimB7PU5y35rfBcg5Vxj2R6umL" is not a valid bitcoin address

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Updated Multi-Bit wallet fixed it

Follow My Vote / Smart voting and creating value
« on: October 29, 2014, 01:53:53 am »
With the client upgrade approaching in November, I think it might be a good time to discuss the various aspects of the voting system and how its mechanics will maximize value for the shares while providing the fairest, most accurate and user-approved consensus possible.  So I have many questions:
What voting systems will be available (preferential, single transfer, borda, etc.)?  Will there be established timeframes in which the voting expires or will voting continue until consensus is reached?  At what percentage does consensus have to reach for the vote to count?  Does removing as much bias possible add value?  If so, how can this be achieved and implemented in the DAC (such as not displaying the results as they're counted)?  Or will each of these features be voted on themselves?

Could someone more technical elaborate on what Sunny King is discussing and how that differs from the Bitshares' approach?

The derivative allows clients to protect the value of their bitcoin holdings by locking in a dollar value, offering an insurance against the astronomical price swings that have plagued the computer-generated currency.

Why have a centralized derivative with a decentralized currency?  Someone needs to tell these people about Bitshares!  8)

Technical Support / 0.4.10 Market frozen? [RESOLVED]
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:55:39 pm »
I'm having no issues connecting or receiving bitUSD and BTSX from Bter but the market isn't moving at all for me and appears frozen.  I'm receiving no error messages and there is overlap in the orders but when I place an order nothing goes through either.  It's also difficult to cancel orders somethings.  Any thoughts?

Someone needs to get in touch with this guy and tell him about BitShares!  8)

中文 (Chinese) / 祝我的朋友和商业伙伴
« on: August 25, 2014, 03:27:03 am »

BitShares AGS / AGS Explorer snapshot info
« on: August 23, 2014, 07:42:20 pm »
I was checking the explorer (http://www1.agsexplorer.com/) and noticed my balance now includes "LTS".  Is "LTS" the test shares for DNS?

KeyID / Anonymity Network (Tor) DAC?
« on: August 20, 2014, 10:31:01 pm »
Between KeyID, TITAN, and .P2P there seems to be enough features to construct an anonymity network like Tor.  The DAC could be pay-to-play (hourly) or subscription based and payment could be done through new share issuance, bitUSD, BTSX, etc.  Are there any plans to create a DAC like this?  Or will .P2P already cover this with future extensions or browser?

General Discussion / Stellar
« on: August 11, 2014, 04:05:51 pm »
https://www.stellar.org/blog/introducing-stellar/

Can we have a discussion about the pros and cons of Stellar?  It's recent release seems to be moderately successful and I believe it utilizes a Ripple-style consensus so it has the potential to scale like BTSX.  From what I've read, it seems like it uses 'credits' similar to colored coins rather than being truly fungible like bitUSD and other Bitshares digital assets.  Thoughts?

Technical Support / Issues importing Multibit wallet [RESOLVED]
« on: July 30, 2014, 03:03:02 am »
I'm having some difficulties importing my Multibit wallet. I receive a successful message but no additional BTSX display in my account.  Importing PTS worked just fine so I'm a bit confused about what I'm doing wrong.

I've been working as a developer (most front-end) and consultant building data-driven applications for the past 6 years or so.  I essentially create front end interfaces and logic to store data in mySQL databases for users to collaborate on in a team-based environment.

I've been trying to think of ideas and scenarios in which this type of development and user collaboration would be useful for a blockchain or for cryptos in general so I could contribute to the community; however, I've yet to come up with anything of true value.

I know consensus amongst work-groups/teams is very useful and valuable to companies but I'm afraid everytime I try to translate that value to a DAC it gets lost in translation somehow.

So do ya'll have any ideas for how this type of development could be used for BitShares projects?  Is there a flexibility or additional value that could be derived by integrating a traditional database structure with a BitShares blockchain?  Or do the two live in different worlds?

General Discussion / Shoutout to Brian Page!

I've been watching a few BitShares convention videos and I want to give you props for being energetic and clearly articulating the potential of BitShares.  Dan provides good information but Brian shines as a presenter.  Looking forward to more videos!

Technical Support / OSX wallet not loading
« on: January 03, 2014, 06:24:32 am »
Every time I try to launch the client, I get a prompt that says "ProtoShares-Qt quit unexpectedly". This occurs while it says its verifying blocks. I've reinstalled the app several times without success.
Can anyone help me with this? It's very frustrating since I couldn't move my PTS from Cryptsy for the MMC release and I'm scared I'm going to miss it for Bitshares and Keyhotee  :-[
