I'm a little late to this announcement.

Could someone explain how this is positive to BTS?  I get why it's a positive for BANX but it's unclear to me how BTS is effected.

To my knowledge...

will they eventually auto-cover?

Yes, if the BitUSD hits the feed price.

Will I have to buy BitUSD to pay off the debt?

Only if you want to cover your position.

If I pay off the debt will the system send back my BTS being held as collateral?

Yup.

We start with our own EU-based international exchange in Denmark, which went live more than a year ago. CCEDK.com offers buy and sell options for digital currencies in a secure environment on the base of two-factor authentication (2FA) with 24/7 worldwide customer support. We span five continents and 17 languages so far. We offer anonymous trading of some 85+ crypto pairs based on BitUSD, BitEUR, BitCNY, Bitcoin, Litecoin, BitShares, NuBits, NuShares, Dogecoin, DASH , Nextcoin, Blackcoin, Peercoin and Fimkrypto as well as a 50+ Fiat pairs with validation.

Does this mean they're launching bitDOGE, bitDASH, bitLTC, bitPPC, etc. when they roll out their Graphene-powered exchange?  :o

I disagree. Ethereum is great for long, one-off smart contracts while BitShares excels at speed and contracts build in at a protocol level.  The two might be complementary but IMO BitShares can get scripting an achieve what Ethereum is doing easier than Ethereum can mimic BitShares.

General Discussion / Re: Cryptonomex? WTF is this?
« on: June 13, 2015, 05:22:23 pm »
I don't understand why anyone would be butt hurt by Cryptononex. As stated, the devastating have substantial skin in the game for BTS so it'd be detrimental for them to do anything counter of their position.  Also, BM has stated in previous proposals that they'd code releases for BTS so they're bullish and acquiring more not less. Further, this approach empowers the BitShares community as they can choose the exact direction of the network on a project by project basis.

Technical Support / Re: Will DevShares be dead in 2.0?

On the Beyond Bitcoin podcast, BM said DevShares will still be used for testing in 2.0.

But the truth is that bitcoin will be the collateral for the most commonly used USD derivative as it is the biggest most liquid and most trusted crypto.
Bitshares need to make btc the default collateral for bit assets or another USD derivative will take its place.

Cringe to say it, but this is a good idea. We could theoretically use any crypto as collateral, and the fact is that BTC does have qualities that make it desirable to be used as such.
I could easily imagine such a feature existing in BTS 3 or 4. It's just a matter of priorities and dev resources.

What's the point?  Why not use bitBTC instead since it'd have the same value as BTC but it'd be more efficient and less expensive?

Combine that with the shopping carts developed, the 10 seconds confirmation, etc. We need bitGBP !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read a future BitShares upgrade will also reduce confirmation times to nearly 1 second.  :)  Regardless, I'll be moving my bankUSD to bitUSD so I can generate an interest.. either through marker making or bitBonds.

Why not display each delegate's top Wall post (by #burned) inside the client? It would add a new dynamic to the voting mechanism while also serving multiple purposes like voting on issues, expressing support (or lack of) for topics or performance, etc.
Thoughts?
I like the idea but you need to make sure that delegates sign their own posts by their account keys to verify their identifiy/post .. otherways everyone could post to your wall claiming to be you!

I actually like the idea of others posting on your wall and it displaying in the client too.  Hmmm..
