Hi I had an issue with a withdrawal of bts from poloniex for about 24hrs, then the market had a message banner stating that;

BTS under maintenance or experiencing wallet/network issues.  Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled until a solution is found, which may require an update from the bts team.  Any updates must be tested and audited before enabling.

Does anyone know what they are talking about?  It smells highly fishy to me given that no-one else seems to be affected.  Are they running a fractional reserve there?  Are they trying to manipulate the bts market?  I have no evidence for anything and I could be being unfair but the DEX seems fine etc. so......

Muse/SoundDAC / Does anyone know if Muse is completely dead?
« on: January 26, 2017, 10:12:27 am »
Is there nothing worth salvaging from the investment and development at all?  A music specific front end to a blockchain that incentivised viral music and removed middle men was such a great plan.  Getting bogged down in royalty distribution was a bad move I think.  Is anyone in contact with anyone from peertracks/muse in a channel that matters?  If there's something worth salvaging we should look into it or we should build a new front end to the muse blockchain if there's enough interest.  Music still has the power to supercharge blockchain adoption and no-one has done it yet....madness ;)

Technical Support / Dex unresponsive in 2.0 light with OPEN.BTC market
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:38:58 pm »
Hi,

I tried to open the OPEN.BTC BTS market in the DEX but it just hangs and causes everything else to be unresponsive. I tried shutting down but got the same result.....

I used the Markets button within explore to select a different market....OBITS which opened/loaded fine.

Is there a problem with the OPEN.BTC markets?

Thank you.

Muse/SoundDAC / Importing Keys
« on: March 07, 2016, 02:13:51 pm »
Hi, I've followed the import instructions but when I select the 0.9.3c backup file for import....the Muse client give the message to use a BTS 1.0 export file instead.

I'm running the 1.0.160208 version of the Muse windows client and the file I am trying to import a .json exported from BTS 1.0

Please could someone recommend anything else I might try?  Thank you.

General Discussion / Blockchain & Decentralised Journalism
« on: February 03, 2016, 08:30:58 am »
Could the BitShares or muse blockchain be used in conjunction with a mobile app to aid and incentivise decentralised journalism? Supporting any person in the world to make the most of their proximity to a story/piece of evidence and connecting that to a new social news network could be a powerful tool for truth and anti-propaganda.

Great exposure for our tech and a superb use case with incentivised growth for either network.

Muse/SoundDAC / Music is social media

Cob, have you considered talking to Dor Konforty at Synereo? They seem to be smashing it on the social media and blockchain innovation front. Perhaps you can help each other?

Meta / Censorship is a sign of weakness
« on: December 10, 2015, 08:29:13 am »
Coming from thread https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,20452.0.html

Let's discuss and review the fate of lzr1900 as toast and tuck fheman disagree with the forum ban I requested.

My reasons for requesting the ban...

If I was the regular subject of someone's vulgarity and slander, I wouldn't like it.....the way sand flies can interfere with ones enjoyment of a beautiful beach.
Potential for reputational damage both to the subject and community.
Everyone has standards for communication they expect to be adhered to.....for instance, if one were to threaten a community member, I'm sure that would result in a ban.
If there were a thousand lzr1900's, would ignoring them be an effective strategy? Or if the frequency of vulgar and slanderous comments was even higher?
Lzr1900's comments, at least in part, are an attempt to censor the subject.

I certainly do not advocate for the censorship of any kind of discussion, debate, journalism, revelation of truth, disagreement, conflicting ideas etc. I do however advocate for upholding lzr1900's ban. He has had plenty of opportunities to air his sentiments and enough is enough. Why should a valued member of the community have his engagement on the forum continually contaminated by lzr1900's vitriol?

A case of censorship should be reviewed as it is a serious restriction of freedom.....but any sane person should realise that we must all restrict our freedoms when there is the possibility of affecting others. It is what give us the potential to live in harmony.  Courtesy is an exceptional means of finding the right balance.  I hope this community continues to represent the higher ideal of freedom but is also able to foster a culture of respectful interactions.

Finally, he can always create another account and perhaps engage with the community more constructively.

General Discussion / Synereo - decentralized social media need an exchange
« on: November 06, 2015, 12:51:33 pm »
I have a small stake in Synereo and I follow their progress.  I very much like the sound of what they are trying to accomplish.  Anyway, they are looking for exchanges to be able to develop a market for their native token, the AMP.  What are the chances of launching AMP trading onto the Bitshares DEX or one of the other exchanges, Openledger, Bunkerchain Labs or CCEDK?

http://www.synereo.com/

Can we target other interesting projects that are struggling to get their token onto an exchange?  Obviously some due diligence is required to assess the overhead in maintenance.  Will reaching out to these other projects for that purpose afford some additional prospects for transitioning whole alts into UIA's?

General Discussion / CryptoPotential.com
« on: October 21, 2015, 02:07:01 pm »
Does anyone have the time or inclination to compete with coinmarketcap to build a transparent Crypto project rating system and website that can give people a better idea of a project or technology's potential?  Like gravitational or electric potential energy......each crypto project has a variety of forms of potential energy locked up within it's software, developers, infrastructure, capital, technology, philosophy etc.

Wouldn't it be possible to identify several measures of potential along with a fair means to evaluate the provable status of each and score each metric and project?

This could provide a source of revenue for marketing efforts, a funnel for interested people to each project and provides a legitimate means for getting the message out there regarding BitShares status and how it stacks up against other projects.  There must be many ways of validating the innovation and progress BitShares is making, simply by presenting facts in different ways.

General Discussion / BitGold puts in another appearance....

https://www.bitgold.com/

It's so reassuring to know that they are audited by one of the 'Big Four' horsemen of the apocalypse, i mean accounting firms.  Also, their customer's gold accounts will definitely be segregated.....

If a company has a website selling whatever and wants to accept Bitshares or Bitassets and also wants to direct their customers towards Bitshares for the purposes of referral, is that accomplished via a standard referral page on their website? Or would the customer simply click a link to the Bitshares website referral page?

Thanks!

Muse/SoundDAC / Muse music competition - community fund the winning band
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:25:39 am »
Before the launch of Muse, could we crowd-fund (community only) a music competition and fund the winner's first album or a tour....they would showcase the new Muse driven music platform?  Help create a stir!
