From reading many threads I saw there's a major change coming, but I can't keep up with everything. What should I be doing now?

Is there a thread for newbies to give some directions? When exactly will we have to do something? I saw 5.11 mentioned several times ...

this thread may help....

General Discussion / Re: Marketing Direction - Why not How or What...

Make no mistake, a predominantly silent war is being waged around us, which is terrifying when you consider the extent to which conflict and environmental destruction has visibly engulfed parts of the planet.  We are nearing the point in time when people are going to have to choose between the forces of dominion and the forces of freedom.

In order to choose, people need to wake up to a single truth.  The centralized control of money has enabled the worst, the most degenerate humans to enslave everything and everyone.  This enslavement is both physical and mental, with nothing untouched by the corruption.  The world in which we live is gradually being altered in ways that reflect the damaged psyches and grotesque appetites of parasitic monsters and their pet corporations.

The power of BitShares is absolutely ideological.  Just think about it.  Think about what it means.  Bitshares is the antithesis of dominion and enslavement, a light in the dark.  If BitShares succeeds, think about all the people who will be given hope in the future, think of all the people who will no longer be ground to pieces, used and abused.  It brings tears to my eyes.

I believe this is what Satoshi wanted.  BitShares has the potential to succeed where Bitcoin has in many ways failed.  People are ready to hear that message.  Tell them what is at stake and give them the choice.  People will come in droves once they comprehend this single truth.

I apologize if this comes across a bit strong.  I just can't imagine a more powerful message than the truth of what BitShares could do for us all.  I understand the reason many of you would advise caution, given the uncompromising nature of the message.  Decentralized Wisdom & Consensus Rules!

Yet another example of illegitimate, monopolistic, kleptomaniacal, protectionism from a tentacle of the one bank....

Justcoin guys should invest in BitShares and start building for a decentralized platform.

For DNS it would be nice with a summary of this fix as well,

That fix was potentially subject to change so i'll leave it off for now....

There was some talk of keeping the KeyID blockchain going...

I want to check my understanding of the BitShares allocations after the snapshot date (5th November 2014) and what actions need to be taken.  Please could I ask the community to check the veracity of the statements below and correct where appropriate.  I think this may help quite a few of us....

AGS 7% total allocation of BitShares – from 5th November 2014 snapshot – no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies

PTS 7% total allocation of BitShares - from 5th November 2014 snapshot – 2yr vesting period applies

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

In Exchange / Some exchanges may honour the snapshot to PTS (Bter & BTC38) in which case PTS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client 2 YEAR VESTING PERIOD APPLIES TO FUNDS HELD ON EXCHANGE

BTSX 80% total allocation of BitShares -

In Wallet / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken

On Exchange / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken

Unclaimed / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

DNS 3% total allocation of Bitshares - from 5th November 2014 – 2yr vesting period applies

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

On Exchange / some exchanges may honour the snapshot to DNS (Bter & BTC38) in which case DNS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client 2 YEAR VESTING PERIOD APPLIES TO FUNDS HELD ON EXCHANGE

Unclaimed / no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

Vote 3% total allocation of Bitshares - Up to 21st August 2014 snapshot – All Unclaimed - no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies

Music unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation

Play unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation

DNS may live on - TBC

PTS may live on - TBC

Thanks for the help....

Added vesting periods......

Added warning re vesting period to notes about exchange held funds.....

General Discussion / Re: Longtime Investor - I am out
« on: October 24, 2014, 11:43:02 pm »
On the off chance that this guy isn't a shill, I would suggest they listens to the mumble. 'Longtime Investor' isn't a long time investor, if they get shaken by good steps forward. Come back in 10 years and talk about long term.

Couldn't agree more.  Bitshares is 5 minutes old and things are only just getting interesting!

All what has been publishes was a proposal ...

This half-baked and incomplete "proposal"  is much more than that:
This is a semi-final proposal that will be adopted and implemented unless someone has a VERY compelling argument.

So make a clear, rational and compelling argument as others are attempting.  BM will listen.

PTS AGS with the biggest difference is that PTS can free trade business, while AGS can't; so exchange AGS ratio is relatively high, but now the PTS with the AGS as to deal with it, is not unfair to PTS? This is not to let AGS can become a deal? Is not with the original issuing AGS contrary to the original intention?

I still do not see how it is unfair as those who donated to AGS still did so with the knowledge that they were risking FAR more than PTS.  PTS holders who have no AGS will have a hard time understanding that the relative risk they had by holding PTS could be liquidated at any time during the most critical growth phases of the project (when risk was Highest)...AGS knew the risk and took it anyway fully expecting to never be made liquid.  So to me it comes down to loyalty (and if loyalty deserves higher rewards)...but that is just me and as you probably know by now I'm borderline crazy in my loyalties sometimes.

P.S.  even if AGS are made liquid, I have no intention of liquidating them.  I want to see what an older, wiser Bytemaster has in store for me 15 years from now...

When I see comments like this I really lose faith in this forum... Let me explain it very simply for you:

Your "high risk" investment in AGS was based on a social contract that required you to be "locked in" to your investment perpetually. In exchange for this "high risk" investment, you received 6X, let me repeat - 6 times, more equity than PTS investors for every dollar you spent. As a result, you now own 6X more BTSX for every dollar you invested. Now you are proposing that we "gift" AGS holders the liquidity of PTS, violate the social contract, AND allow you to maintain your 6X equity in not only future DACS, but also BTSX! So you get to double dip into BTSX, you get liquidity, you keep your 6X equity, ALL IN VIOLATION OF THE SOCIAL CONTRACT and sadly at the expense of PTS holders when half of your friends liquidate (please don't argue this if you value your reputation).

Still don't see it?

I think Alphabar is right.  The amusing thing is that AGS holders may be very happy with the risk they took due to the results....now we have to give back in order to progress.  Adhering as closely as possible to the social consensus is very important.  Let's not forget, it needs to be preserved for future DACs and third party allocations to all BTS holders.  In many ways it is the social consensus that binds us together and enables changes to be negotiated.

General Discussion / Re: The Significance of What We Are Doing...(Vote)
« on: October 21, 2014, 11:30:13 am »
While we are all worrying about how these things are going to effect our investments, we might be forgetting the larger purpose.

Sometimes it is healthy to remind ourselves... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L40N-zOV0mM

So we can ask ourselves..."what are we willing to give, for real freedom."

Notice how everyone simply sits and watches.  Would you?  Or would you do something?  I think...we are here...to do something.

From the day I read the first Invictus web pages....the ones with the knight and the windmill....I completely bought into the idea that some incredibly clever people cared about the principals I value and were going to use Satoshi's invention and their ingenuity to build technology and networks that would manifest Satoshi's dream.  I believe the dream was to forever alter the structure of humanity by providing a tool that resists corruption over time and enables our societies to completely reorganize our resources and priorities, unfettered by a corrupting influence.

What will this accomplish?  It's almost unimaginable.  Appropriate allocation of capital, preservation of finite resources, unlimited innovation, new levels of education, a breakdown of tribal societal structures, no more war......

I genuinely couldn't care less what allocation I get if Bitshares can move us even a small way towards that goal.  I trust BM to be as fair as possible.  I promise right now that I will not complain regardless of the final decision. I will not look back and analyse what might have been.  I feel honoured to be even the tiniest part this.  I want our children to grow up in peace and explore the universe.

What we build today in Bitshares could literally echo through eternity and for once, that echo might fill our progeny with pride and love.

Do it, merge all into BitsharesX.  +5% All funding should go into 1 DAC, and that funding can be distributed according to each DAC's need, so if someone doesn't know where to fund, they just fund the main DAC.

 +5%

The devs have my full support to implement the BTS merger, and the sooner the better.

The DAC fragmentation/naming etc was a major stumbling block for marketing and investment.

Now folks can just buy BTS to invest in BTC 2.0.

Simple, clean and easy.

+5% We need an allocation drawn up for everyone to review that is as fair as possible so we can get on and agree it.  Then we need to implement asap so the market can see the benefits and stand amazed that a crypto company can be so nimble whilst retaining it's integrity! DPOS rules!

I apologise, I cannot speak Chinese.  I am a Bitshares founder from the Uk and wanted to state how much I hope the Chinese community does not lose faith with Bitshares and Bytemaster over the issuance of additional stock.  This will only happen to provide additional value and Bytemaster's value proposition is very very good.  We are just beginning to understand the power of the delegate consensus mechanism in helping us to remain flexible, to continue to innovate, to resist corruption and remain democratic. I hope the mumble discussion will be translated for you very soon, the arguments were well reasoned.

The Bitshares network gains enormous value from your belief and support.  I just wanted to reach out as I value everyone in the Bitshares community.

I won't understand any replies, if any, no worries....see you on the moon!  ;)
