General Discussion / Re: Community Coin-Creation Crew?
« on: March 08, 2016, 09:19:51 pm »
You can count me in  +5%

As a millennial, I see more value in Tokenifing Communities of Gamers (ex: people following the same YouTuber/Server) than forum communities.
It's only my opinion but I think they would be a lower-hanging fruit for us.

@DestBest <---- You could head up the automation of twitter with the Sharebot?
Would be glad to help anyone here with this, just PM me  ;D

agreed.  gamers are a huge demographic. but we both know gamers often use gaming clan/guild forums...right? ;)

Sure, I can help out here ..

The question to resolve is .. how can make such a token have a value ..
If you figure that out and can have it implemented/integrated into BTS .. then this could be a real big thing!

I want to pay out of pocket to have an API written along with a wrapper/dll...or websocket layer that enables others to write their own code to interface with the bot in a way that enables them to easily create their own automated token distribution schemes.

It will take me some time to save but I am feeling it is very important and as a large stakeholder I am willing to pay to have this accomplished.

The communities themselves will make them valuable (or not).  One idea I currently have is to make it so the bots can be used on multiple forums...
Imagine if all forums on the net had bitshares-based tokens to pass around.  There are forum allstars in every community.  People without whom the community itself would have no value.  Naturally you would see these communities create what Dan Robles calls "sinks" or "grounds" that back and make the currency valuable.

It will not be on us to make those tokens valuable.  We would simply sell the service and let them sink or swim on their own.  We would only be there to offer various services (at a price) to help them out.  :)

General Discussion / Community Coin-Creation Crew?
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:01:28 pm »
I am proposing we put together a crew who consults with various netizen communities on creating their own customized Community Coin.  We could use the benefit of our Lifetime Memberships to cheaply make Cryptotokens for various, currently UN-Tokenified Communities and offer other services (like hangouts, articles on bitshares related news sites, adding a token to blocktrades, MetaExchange, Open Ledger -this one is automatic of course- etc...).
We could after assessing all potential assets put together a bundle of things we can offer for communities that join and offer it for a certain price.

Here is just a short list of assets I see we can leverage to accomplish this.  They are by no means all of them...likely just the tip of the iceberg, which is just another reason to be bullish ;)

Would you be interested in joining this initiative?  Have and if so what would you like to add to this list?
If not, why not?

Lifetime Memberships makes it easy for us to create tokens at a cheap price and charge others for the process (and the things listed above could be addons that people can "add to cart" essentially, or buy alll in a bundle for a significant discount).    Sooo why don't we join forces and start making tokens for other communities, cutting out the "we need it to be easy" stage and make money from OUR knowledge on how to use the bitshares ecosystem?

What exactly is Storj currently getting out of Counterparty? Just the ability to trade a token? If so we could certainly do so far better. Looks they're considering integrating with ETH though which I suppose will allow them to offer storage to smart contracts which could be useful.

This is precisely what im currently doing with the sharebot...to actually bring entire communities here.  we can distribute their tokens to them...using our blockchain.

I guess this is a good time to say a DASH hangout is in our future.

Would our community be behind donating a little bit of bitshares for an attendance sharedrop if they are willing to do the same?  This would help us solidify them as a "sharing" community. :)

To tip someone one forum (or anywhere), do I have to be login on Sharebits when I do this? And do I have to be login with a security code?

no. you do not. all you need to login for is account management :)

TRYBITSHARES would be the perfect token to spread the word ;p

i have many if anyone wants to pass them out.  you know...actually when i get the time i will probably try to set this bot up on my account. once i do that, maybe we can have a hangout to work with it and show others in the community.

make sure to get noticed, start sending bts to all microsoft decision makers telling them thats only the beginning

collaterized assets shared via twitter using www.sharebits.io

which better way to get noticed showing value and whats possible in 3 seconds

Honestly cant think of one...there is only one thing better than telling someone about something, and that is showing them.

General Discussion / Re: Community currencies on ethereum
« on: March 07, 2016, 09:51:25 pm »
Hi Ronny , this is not about ether or bitshares really and its not about a particular currency either. There is a growing trend around the world among communities to develop alternative means to accomplish exchange between members of society. In that respect right know the most prevailing idea is that exchange should start by giving, that is not the same as giving a token or digits. Doing something for a member of society and recording that so you will receive something back when you need. Scarcity is not a viable option in their system because scarcity takes individuals hostage. In this system the moment someone does something for someone his account status becames - minus until he recieves from another member of society. This model naturally creates islands of community currency systems . Like WIR, BrixtonPound  or timebanks.

It isn't?  The platform they openly say they represent is ethereum.  No problems there, but if we want to get to where ethereum is, we should probably consider the tools we have to do these amazing things here and start working together to help them out (especially if they sharedrop on you and the other project doesn't.)

Can someone summarize what's it? I got nothing from the first page of the wiki as well as the website.

Thanks.

This will my friends,  be the silver bullet of all time ! Have a look at it. Once it has patfinding,  atomic hops and then bye bye to fiat!

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/48ad3b/community_currency_now_live_on_the_blockchain/

Honestly confused how this is any different from what we (can) offer.

BeyondBitcoin tokens are a community currency.  If we get the sharebot plugged into forums easily using an api we can literally have give ANY forum community the ability to create and distribute their own "Community Currency".  I've read through it and this is no different...

So I guess what I'm saying is...lets make it possible here?

Imagine just for one second...if every forum out there could create their own tokens and pass them out to people in their community's while enabling community members to pay a little bit (or have above a certain reputation) to be able to pass theirs as well..

I'm still waiting to see if the referral system was ever set up but have not heard anything back from @Xypher or any of the freebie team about it to be honest.  However, I have not been on skype so it is possible (though I must admit unlikely) that I have received a response yet on this.

Perhaps when xypher gets on he will check for me and get back to me about it.

it is currently something I would have to talk about with the team (and I have to fix my skype to most easily do this).  I'll let you guys know when I find out.  @xeroc...how hard would it be to make an fba for the sharebot instead of having the buyback mechanism?

Also, I want to let people know I am forced to find new means of getting income in the short run if I do this because the fees were basically planning to be one of our best and most regular means of income...

Such is the risk of building on a changing platform I suppose...
