Beyond Bitcoin / Re: [TEST] ShareBits Testing Thread

Cool, can we tip any asset via the forum?

Not yet. And if forums change as proposed more and more on the forums, maybe not all.

General Discussion / Re: [vote] Upgrade Forum Software

voted for discourse, same as last time. majority could end up at "no change" again though

We will discuss it on the mumble again and make a decision by the end of January 2017.

mumble is by no means an indicator for consent (even less so than the forum).

Partially true. But remember that about 10x people listen to the mumble as those who attend so it is a good place to catch a very large % of the people who really are the true bts community.

Following the discussions in the last mumbles and the old threads by Bitsapphire I created a short summary of potential software we could use.

The idea is to streamline communication and improve the exchange between the different communities around the world. One of the goals was the to find a translation plugin, that will help us to talk better with the Chinese community. Further upgrading the forum software will send a strong signal that BitShares is active and improving.

What is wrong with the current forum?
Since Bitshapphire is not active anymore in the BitShares Community anymore, it would be better to have an active community member hosting the forum and be in charge of the maintenance. The goal is so to keep the forum 99% online.

Who could host it?
An active member of the BitShares community, let us discuss who could be suitable.

What are the current hosting costs?
50-60 Euro per month according to Bitsapphire

What happens with the current posts, ranks, and the old forum?
I found this guide for Discourse How to import Simple Machine to Discourse
We can probably import everything to the new forum and put the old posts in an archive.

Why now?
If not now, then never.

The two forums that would suit us the best:

1. Discourse http://www.discourse.org/
Demo: https://meta.discourse.org/

Plug-ins:

Very cool, Discourse also has a google translate plugin, which could help us to talk better with China.

2. NodeBB https://nodebb.org/
Demo: http://forum.expii.com/

Plug-ins:

3. Simple Machines Forum (currently used) www.simplemachines.org

Happy voting and a good discussion!

ps.: My favorite is discourse

Seem to have missed phpbb forums i added. Can we please add it? It is not the prettiest forum bit has the most tools for community growth and development out of all of them.

I also have been in contact with taulant. He said he has received many requests to be the new owner of the forums, but he and the team decided they would prefer to give to me (I never asked him to own the forums, instead approaching him for the community at large, which is probably why).  After rceiving the forum from taulant I stated out loud to you chris that I am not comfortable with any one entity (no matter how much I personally trust them) to have ownership. Please dont forget this as we move forward.

The reason is actually simple. I also believe this is why taulant and team decided this route. I am interested in opening community discussion about this further when im ready in the coming days. For now please co sider talking amongst yourselves about the best way to give OWNERSHIP to bitshares community as a whole.

(P.S. I trust you to run them personally)

General Discussion / Looking for BitShares and Crypto Journalists
« on: November 16, 2016, 03:37:45 am »
Beyondbitcoin.io is now up and its content tracks the trends following the beyondbitcoin tag on steemit.  I am starting to see many people blogging about the platforms they love using beyondbitcoin and indeed it is an amazing thing to behold to watch as people join the movement.  However, I still wish to approach the bitshares community because it is where beyondbitoin has grown up and where it intends to someday lay a large quantity of its own tokens.

So I am hoping I can get people from this community to consider contacting me about writing content for the site so we can make the content the best it can be---and make bitshares community members quite a bit of funds in the process.

Check out my latest post on steemit: https://steemit.com/beyondbitcoin/@officialfuzzy/news-flash-trending-now-on-beyondbitcoin-io-the-open-source-customizable-steem-front-end

It would be preferable to build a small team from this community to help with covering various crypto projects.

So [member=602]fuzzy[/member] , when do we start testing Sharebits ?  :D

Well it is[/it] coming along---but taking much longer than I had initially planned.  I guess id prefer it to take longer than necessary as opposed to not long enough. I'll keep you guys updated :)

Hey Fuzz! I can offer you my help if you'd like it. You know i've been busy lately with the project (golos) but since i read every single (!!!) post on there, i think it would suit me

I would love it man.  I'd also love others to consider the same.

Русский (Russian) / A BeyondBitcoin Representative for Golos?
« on: October 24, 2016, 07:19:23 am »
I am looking for people from the russian community to become part of beyondbitcoin and share our content and upvote content on golos for #beyondbitcoin.  All payouts from said content would go to those who post it for us.  I am hoping we can leverage BeyondBitcoin on these platforms to help get the word out about BitShares and how it will trade all the other DACs in the world.  So if people can monetize this from the Russian community AND help us strengthen our position to help in the mission of keeping bitshares strong, longterm...I want to help you help me to accomplish this charge.

Thanks for your time for reading this.

General Discussion / BBHangout Editor Recruiting
« on: October 16, 2016, 04:53:11 am »
hello everyone. I will make this short for reasons that will become obvious soon, so let me dive in.

I am looking for someone who is interested in editing the bbhangout from this friday and posting for me.  Friday after the hangout I went to the ER and have been really sick.  I can edit the last hangout but it will cut into the rest I need to get better so I am trying to find someone who will be willing to help me when these types of things (rarely) come up.  However, if there are enough bts-loyal people interested in helping with the editing and  posting our content I will gladly consider hiring them to help expand our coverage...

Regardless, I will gladly reward people who wish to help with some bts/sbd/btc....or other potential cryptos of one's  choosing.  Please consider and if interested email me at [email protected]

this will notify me as I will not be at my computer for a little bit over the coming days.  Hoping there is person willing to help.  I try to very rarely ask...but in times like this it is really needed....

At this point, Bitshares is a dead project. 0 to near 0 developement. I feel sorry for all the people that wasted time and money into this project, an orchestrated scam by your beloved Bytemaster.
