MemoryCoin / Guerilla marketing - Cross-Coin Tipping
« on: January 09, 2014, 06:44:17 am »
Not sure if we want to unleash this on the altcoin world, but wanted to make the community aware of the possiblity of cross-coin tipping.

Here's how it would work

1. Someone presents an address for tipping, let's say it is a FTC address.
2. You enter the FTC address in the MemoryCoin wallet send field - it converts it automatically to an MMC address.
3. Send
4. Alert the recipient - they import their FTC private key into MemoryCoin wallet.

The big potential problem is that the user may not have the private key to their address - they might be using an exchange address - then the funds are lost, or only accessible by the private key holder.

MemoryCoin / Using MemoryCoin wherever Bitcoin is accepted
« on: January 09, 2014, 04:51:07 am »
I think a major initiative we should undertake is technology that allows users to spend MemoryCoin whereever Bitcoin is accepted. This process should be as transparent to the user as possible.

It requires a Wallet/Exchange hybrid I think.

The process is thus -

1. User receives a Bitcoin payment request - say a QR code.

2. The bitcoin protocol is associated with the MemoryCoin wallet.

3. The wallet sends the appropriate amount to the exchange.

4. The exchange converts to Bitcoin and makes the BTC payment.

For a simple, quick version, the user might need to have funds deposited at the exchange, but later versions could allow the user to retain complete control over the funds, only giving the exchange access to the funds required for a transaction.

MemoryCoin / What About a MemoryCoin Lottery?
« on: January 09, 2014, 04:01:28 am »
I've seen some discussion about creating a MemoryCoin lottery.

I this might be best handled by a commercial service like Isaac's gambling (is there a website for that yet?)

I think a lottery winner might dump a large number of coins on the market at the same time, so probably a bit early for it.

MemoryCoin / Do We Need A New Logo?
« on: January 09, 2014, 03:59:10 am »
There's some discussion that we should have a new logo.

I think it is way too early to re-brand and we want to communicate stability rather than change.

MemoryCoin / Time to Drop the '2.0'?
« on: January 08, 2014, 09:40:36 am »
I think the coin will eventually be known as just MemoryCoin - just a question of when we drop the '2.0' - is it time yet?

MemoryCoin / Officers - Work In The Open
« on: January 08, 2014, 07:13:12 am »
We officers have been looking at different platforms to communicate with each other privately. I don't think we've found a good platform for this and I'm wondering how much we really need one. I'd prefer if officers did as much of their work in the open as possible. We can discuss ideas for projects and get feedback from the community. It should cut down on work duplication and also helps the community to see who is providing value when they make their voting decisions.

MemoryCoin / Churn Seed Nodes
« on: January 08, 2014, 06:36:30 am »
A few weeks ago I added a 'churn' option to the software. This is designed to be run on seed nodes that are written into the software. Nodes run with this option try to maintain a list of nodes that accept incoming connections to provide to new wallets coming online. It doesn't maintain the connection with the new wallets for long, just giving the list of good nodes and disconnecting making room for new wallet. This should allow us to see rapid growth in the number of users without the synching problems we had early on. This seems to be working well and ProtoShares has also adopted this feature.

Now I'm looking for any MemoryCoin nodes that are likely to be available at a fixed ip address for a good length of time and are running with the '-churn=1' option to include in the list of default seed nodes.

MemoryCoin / Charitable Award
« on: January 02, 2014, 07:28:39 am »
More details on the charitable award -

http://memorycoin.org/charity/

Does anybody have any contacts with technical people involved with charities that would be interested? It would be better to have the charity directly involved and receiving the grant direct rather than through an intermediary.

MemoryCoin / Official Candidates List
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:01:39 am »
I've updated the official candidates list with the new candidates for CTO -
http://memorycoin.org/candidates/

This page is still a bit of a mess, and needs some love, but it's our official page now for candidates, so please update your links.

Also I'm withdrawing my candidature for CTO, but will remain as a CEO with a technical focus. If you were voting for me, thank you, but please now change your vote to one of the current candidates.

« on: December 31, 2013, 10:26:17 am »
Here's the download links for the memorycoin.msi installer - Now your grandma can pool mine.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-5Ax5kejTpMMmVpRTdwQ29DODQ/edit?usp=sharing
http://www.memorycoin.org/downloads/memorycoin.msi

It would be very helpful if someone could undertake any or all of these steps

1. Upload to Mega or some high capacity download site

2. Create a Tutorial with following steps -

a) Install MemoryCoin MSI
b) Click Pool Miner Button
c) Wait
d) Sell MMC on Bter for BTC

3. Post links to newbie Bitcoin sites

Also we need a new .ico file - current one looks rubbish after install.

MemoryCoin / DDOS attack on pools
« on: December 30, 2013, 08:49:28 am »
Now would be a good time to switch to another pool. We're very vulnerable to this kind of attack if MMCPool has too dominant a share of the market.
Other pools are offering good reliability and a lower rate.

MemoryCoin / MemoryWallets
« on: December 29, 2013, 10:26:16 pm »
MMC has been added to the brainwallet site -

http://brainwallet.org/

I think these should be a big part of our marketing, although we should call them 'MemoryWallets' for obvious reasons.
