(By benevolent entity I mean someone who wouldn't cheat - but the market would punish that flaw because the potential to cheat would be there)

Maybe Dan has some ideas on provable distributed fairness - I thought long and hard on it over several weeks and couldn't solve it.

Since Robonix hasn't been paid yet, tomorrow and I have decided to pay robonix [50/50] his promised payment because of the delinquency on FreeTrade's account.
(FT agreed to pay Robonix 50% of his earnings from a certain block.)

Thanks for covering this debt while I was away. I've made a repayment to each of you of 2309.90983683 on robonix's instruction.

Benevolent entity with a secret key (e.g. classic satoshi-Dice) has the chance to cheating by submitting selective transactions.

Yes, this is why it is far from ideal - maybe multiple entities with secret keys to generate a random number.

I would like to introduce future events (e.g. future block's info) as the feed for generating random number, to prevent the miners from collision attack, pow might be added to the generation process.

Now miners, or more likely, pool admins, have a chance of cheating by selective discarding of unfavourable blocks.

Solving this problem of provable distributed randomness is key.

Your approach of funds/prizes management is simple and feasible, are the prizes awarded calculated in a deterministic way according to ticket sales? I prefer deterministic way to keep that the total supply can self-sustain.

I prefer fixed-odds, with a house edge and let probability gradually reduce coin supply. Think more like Keno that a proper lottery.

I think a properly implemented Lottery DAC is a killer idea. Maybe even better than a bank.

I was giving serious consideration to launching a Lotto DAC about a month ago and the chief problem I couldn't solve elegantly was how to do fair random draws - provable decentralized fairness. I came to the conclusion it would either need to rely on existing lottery draws, or have a benevolent entity with a secret key. Have you come up with a better solution?

The approach I would recommend is to destroy funds spent on tickets/bets, with maybe a 1% fee to ticket processors (miners) . . awarding all prizes from coinbase. Unlimited prize size. Profits are generated through deflation as money supply is gradually reduced.

Also there's a guy working on a cryptocoin casino - on bitcointalk, don't think he's aware of the DAC concept, but is working on something that is essentially the same.

Although I don't know if a story about FreeTrade mainly being voted out is particularly good or bad news; a rather different story about me being newly elected could bring some light.

Congrats!

n.b. I think a coin surviving the removal of its founder is a net positive.

Hmmm - someone looking to buy 500K MMC

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3564

. . . that's about 9.2% of the currently issued coin and would allow the holder to control the whole board and charity award. Could be interesting.

but the PTS-difficulty-retarget-block-time is implemented like a dinosaur-thing from the good old times...
why not having the fine Kimoto Gravity Well / every block a fresh difficulty?

+1

Yes, the metric is actually the accomplishments of the period allotted and the quality of work produced. this is measured by a small board of 9 investors  + chair. The 9 are chosen at random. I retain the chair but mostly just to advise, policy is always in the hands of investors.

Think you'll need to allow investors to nominate proxies. Very difficult to get shareholders involved in governance . . . nominating a proxy is the lowest bar and might be possible.

MemoryCoin / Robonix Hired As Chief Web Officer (CWO)
« on: March 04, 2014, 04:52:39 pm »
I've asked Robonix to come on board the CEO team as CWO at 50% of the CEO salary from block 18,960.

I think we need a central point of control and responsibility for our website - previously it had been spread out between CEO, CMO and CSO and no-one was taking overall responsibility for it. Now Robonix is officially in charge of it.

Welcome aboard!

MemoryCoin / Re: Creative uses for Voting with MemoryCoin

It could be used for any motion or resolution relevant to MemoryCoin. Lets say the block size needs to be changed or someone wants to change the manifesto or some other technical matter where there are a range of views . . A vote would be a good way to handle it.

Hi Brian,

There's no configuration option for this yet - you could edit your .hosts file to redirect requests for unwanted pools to 127.0.0.1, or block them at the router level.

Hey, is it possible if someone with a little technical background, after getting this to work, could use the py2exe application (http://py2exe.org/) to simplify all this into a single, standalone executabe? Like they have on the original electrum download page.

This is a great idea. Is there a similar packager for the Mac?

Also the install for Android looks very daunting. Is it achievable in theory to package everything required into a single .adt - or even distribute through the Play store?

I assume Cryptsy is making a commercial decision not to list MMC yet - they haven't disclosed what their reasons are to me. It's difficult to say what effect on price a listing on Cryptsy will have in the short-term - it might be a mixed blessing, although I'm sure we'll be listed there eventually. I don't think Cryptsy accepts bribes for listings relying instead on their user's demands - don't think we'd offer one if they did.
