There is no best region.
Decentralisation and feasibility should be primary factors to consider.
You are good to go anywhere. Just make sure you are not on a hosting provider with the majority of delegates.

PS: You can always opt for hosting the node on a private hardware.
This way even if a law or hosting provider policy disables the delegates using virtual hosting services yours will still be online.

Nice that you show the workflow!
Great synergy between BTS and an exchange!
Let there be more stories like this one.

Moving a thread is no censorship.
As for freedom of speech: this is a centralized forum with admins and mods - we ban spammers/bots on a daily basis here, which would cut someone's freedom of speach too.
we have to make decisions based on experience and knowledge here.

What I'm against is locking and editing posts!

allow me to add a personal note: all it takes is one or two users to light the forum on fire and get out the pitchforks. someone said that we talk more than the Golden Girls and this is perfectly true  ;)

Moving a thread to random discussions from Bitshares 2.0 when it criticizes Bitshares 2.0 IS censorship.

Technical Support / Re: social consensus deleted in bitshares 2.0?
« on: June 09, 2015, 02:21:58 pm »
Social consensus was altered even in bitshares 0.x .
There isn't any clear license for bitshares 2.0 (at least atm).
Social consensus status is currently unclear.

You've started a rewrite. Good.
However without test network for bitshares 2.0 it looks impractical, doesn't it ?

52
When will we have public testnet for Bitshares 2.0 ?

53
Who has figured out the magic in this already?

Looks like you've been busy lately.
The magnitude of changes is incredible.
Lets see how it will work out.

Most of the changes I've made in this script modification are now merged in xeroc's script.
There is no need to support this mod anymore.
Maybe you want to join python development?
I can definitely need your help!

I'll be happy to help whenever I can.

General Discussion / Re: Redundancy

Is it something that would take care of itself
This.

- As for the network, it's the same as for bitcoin, as long as there are enough than 51 active delegates in the world that are voted into the top101 everything is fine.
- Core development happens in Blackburg, but not all devs are in the U.S. there are some in Europe and some others in China. Source code is open source. so development will go on .. maybe not at the current pace .. but it will not die off ..

Some months ago, we tried to setup a "consensus" about the data published by delegates
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Delegate/PublicData
among which there is a "legal country" and a "location" .. maybe we should push this idea a little more and statistically evaluate the data given by the delegates ..

You need just one delegate out of the 101 voted in for "survival" of the network. Voters can always pick another set of 101 delegates if at least 1 (currently voted in) delegate is active.

Technical Support / Re: DDoSing the BitShares network
« on: May 21, 2015, 10:34:43 pm »
You might not be able to ddos a single delegate.
You dont know the IP of the delegate (it could use a relay node).
The cost of setting up a backup delegate is insignificant.

Are you still determined to try to ddos a delegate ?

If you want to destroy an asset just send it to an address that noone knows the private key for.
Instead of actual address you can write some meaningful words.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Paid Workers Proposal for Review

Looks like a good idea...
I've always fancied separation of block signers and Paid Workers.
Vesting period on the received funds is a nice touch.
